It\u2019s just that there\u2019s a <strong>gap between the visual image and the actual ride comfort.<\/strong> Like the 911, it\u2019s perfectly comfortable for everyday city driving.<\/p>\n<p>Still, I imagine most wives out there would prefer a smoother, more supple ride <span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">(like the Panamera or Cayenne)<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23446\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/IMG_0994.jpg\" alt=\"Porsche Taycan Turbo\" width=\"1200\" height=\"674\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As for the rear seats, adults can sit comfortably, but it\u2019s not exactly &#8220;<strong>roomy and relaxing.<\/strong>&#8221; When my husband, who is 178 cm tall, sits back there, there\u2019s about a fist-sized space left.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/IMG_0997.jpg\" alt=\"Rear seats of Porsche Taycan\" width=\"1200\" height=\"674\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23451\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/IMG_1014.jpg\" alt=\"Rear seats of Porsche Taycan\" width=\"1200\" height=\"674\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Regarding ease of driving, I felt the Taycan was easier to handle than the Panamera. The Panamera\u2019s body is slightly larger than the Taycan\u2019s, giving it a bulky feel, but the Taycan\u2019s width and size didn\u2019t require as much caution while driving.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_23424\" style=\"width: 1290px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23424\" class=\"wp-image-23424 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/IMG_1566-1280x960-1.jpeg\" alt=\"Porsche Taycan and Panamera\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-23424\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">A model car sent to those who reserved the Taycan. The top is the Taycan, the bottom is the Panamera.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<p>This might be partly because I\u2019m used to driving larger cars, having previously driven the Panamera and currently the Cayenne&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Still, as expected from Porsche, <strong>the handling is superb and you can drive exactly as you want, so the size doesn\u2019t feel intimidating.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Even though it\u2019s an EV, the driving essence is unmistakably Porsche.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Taycans_Performance_on_the_Highway\"><\/span>Taycan\u2019s Performance on the Highway<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>What surprised me most during the Taycan test drive was its performance on the highway. Compared to all the cars I\u2019ve driven so far, it was by far <strong>incredibly flat and incredibly comfortable.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23448\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/IMG_1025.jpg\" alt=\"Porsche Taycan Turbo\" width=\"1200\" height=\"674\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From the moment I passed through the ETC gate and began accelerating, it felt like <strong>the N and S poles of magnets attracting each other, sticking firmly to the road.<\/strong> I was impressed by the flatness when driving the GT3 on the highway, but the Taycan was even flatter.<\/p>\n<p>The joints on the highway only made a rattling sound, but the vibrations were quickly absorbed. When changing lanes, no matter the angle, it glided smoothly like a linear motor car <span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">(though I\u2019ve never ridden one)<\/span>, moving forward without friction.<\/p>\n<p>I couldn\u2019t help but say out loud several times, &#8220;<strong>This is amazing! This feels incredible!<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>My husband said, &#8220;The reason it\u2019s this flat is probably because it has the <strong>PDCC (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control) system as an option.<\/strong>&#8221; He\u2019ll probably explain more about this in his test drive article.<\/p>\n<p>Also, I tried using the ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) on the highway, and it seemed smarter than the cruise control in the 971 Panamera.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23452\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/IMG_2037.jpg\" alt=\"Porsche Taycan ACC\" width=\"1200\" height=\"674\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The previous cruise control would suddenly accelerate when the car ahead disappeared or brake a bit late, which felt a little scary, but the Taycan\u2019s acceleration and deceleration were very smooth and gentle.<\/p>\n<p>I think <strong>even women who aren\u2019t used to highway driving can feel safe and comfortable on long trips.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This Taycan was equipped with the Porsche Electric Sport Sound option, and the sound was very pleasant.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s hard to describe, but it was like a &#8220;quorn&#8221; or &#8220;pooon&#8221; sound&#8230; like a spaceship from Star Wars&#8230; a futuristic sound that matched perfectly with the feeling of pressing the accelerator. It was truly enjoyable.<\/p>\n<p>I think I might get addicted to it (laughs).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23453\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/IMG_1012.jpg\" alt=\"Porsche Taycan Turbo\" width=\"1200\" height=\"824\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The driving was flawless, but if I had to mention a downside, it would be that <strong>the center console and navigation controls were a bit difficult to operate, and the navigation itself was somewhat confusing.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The iPad-like touchscreen on the center console requires pressing until you hear a click, not just a touch, so I thought, &#8220;I\u2019d prefer buttons with tactile bumps that are easier to press.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23455\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/IMG_1977.jpg\" alt=\"Porsche Taycan center console\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23456\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/IMG_1029.jpg\" alt=\"Porsche Taycan navigation\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Well, I guess you get used to it eventually.<\/p>\n<p>Also, regarding displays, if you choose the optional &#8220;Passenger Display,&#8221; a 10.9-inch touchscreen is installed on the passenger side, allowing changes to vehicle settings and route operations.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23462\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/IMG_1041.jpg\" alt=\"Porsche Taycan passenger display\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p>However, my husband said,<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">If the wife is riding shotgun, I don\u2019t think she\u2019d use this feature much. She\u2019d probably be happier if it showed TV instead (laughs).<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Ladies_You_Should_Definitely_Drive_the_Taycan_Too\"><\/span>Ladies, You Should Definitely Drive the Taycan Too<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>After this test drive, I thought, &#8220;<strong>If you go for a test drive with your family or spouse, I really want the wife to drive it too.<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23469\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/IMG_1971.jpg\" alt=\"Porsche Taycan\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Just sitting in the passenger seat won\u2019t let you fully appreciate the Taycan\u2019s charm. There are so many things you only realize once you sit in the driver\u2019s seat and drive it yourself, and I\u2019m sure you\u2019ll be impressed once you do.<\/p>\n<p>Porsche often says that even people who aren\u2019t interested in cars can tell the difference once they drive one (and I was exactly like that), and the Taycan was exactly that.<\/p>\n<p>When asked, &#8220;<strong>So, are you going to buy a Taycan!?<\/strong>&#8221; it seems unlikely for us to buy one immediately, but if the charging infrastructure in Japan improves in the future, I\u2019d definitely like to drive one.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you very much for the test drive!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Taycan Turbo, Test Drive The other day, albeit a bit late, I finally got to take a test drive in the Porsche Taycan, the brand\u2019s EV sports car.
