Regarding the 991 GT3, until recently we had the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/category\/911\/gt3touring\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">991 late model GT3 Touring (MT)<\/a> at home, and I have also test driven the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/testdrive-911gt3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">991 early model (PDK)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/911-gt3-testdrive-pdk-202102\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">991 late model (PDK)<\/a>. Each time, I realize just how different the same model can feel depending on options, specifications, and mileage.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23027\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/IMG_1837.jpg\" alt=\"Porsche 911 GT3\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Among them, the 911 GT3 Club Sport Package MT I recently drove featured standard brakes and a roll cage. Aside from the transmission difference compared to the 991 late model (PDK) I drove before, I\u2019d like to share our impressions as a couple.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Impressions_from_Driving_the_911_GT3\"><\/span>Impressions from Driving the 911 GT3<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Ride_Comfort_of_the_GT3\"><\/span>Ride Comfort of the GT3<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>The GT3 I test drove this time felt milder at low speeds compared to our GT3 Touring. I initially sat in the passenger seat, and right after we started driving, my spouse and I both said, &#8220;<strong>This is so much smoother!<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23029\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/IMG_1723.jpg\" alt=\"Porsche 911 GT3\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Our GT3 transmits more of the road\u2019s bumps and knocks, but this one felt softened, somewhat closer to the raw ride quality of the 992. Regarding this, my husband said:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">I guess it\u2019s because it <strong>doesn\u2019t have PCCB<\/strong>. But at higher speeds, I think PCCB brakes give a stronger feeling of sticking to the road. So for highway comfort, PCCB is probably better. Recently, after comparing PCCB and regular cast-iron brakes more closely, I\u2019ve come to understand the differences better. To put it simply, <strong>PCCB feels like tires with higher air pressure<\/strong>, while regular brakes feel like tires with lower air pressure. That\u2019s the best way to describe it. PCCB is nimble but can feel a bit choppy at very low speeds, yet it\u2019s incredibly stable and comfortable at speed. Regular brakes feel smoother and softer at low speeds.<\/p>\n<p>He said.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23028\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/IMG_1702.jpg\" alt=\"Porsche 911 GT3 wheels\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_Comfortable_Are_the_GT3s_Sports_Bucket_Seats\"><\/span>How Comfortable Are the GT3\u2019s Sports Bucket Seats?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>When I sat in the sports bucket seat this time, I found it had <strong>great support and was very comfortable.<\/strong> The sports bucket seats use glass fiber reinforced plastic and carbon fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP\/CFRP) for the seat shells, providing excellent lateral support, which I definitely felt.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23030\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/IMG_1713.jpg\" alt=\"Porsche full bucket seat\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I previously wrote an article about how <a href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/sports-plus-sheet-202010\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">seats affect ride comfort<\/a>, so perhaps the good low-speed comfort is partly due to the seat.<\/p>\n<p>While the sports bucket seat is comfortable and stylish, <strong>unfortunately, it wasn\u2019t suitable for me as a woman.<\/strong> When I sat in the driver\u2019s seat and tried to adjust it, I couldn\u2019t raise or lower the seat, and even with the seat pushed all the way forward, I couldn\u2019t fully depress the clutch pedal.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe it\u2019s just that my legs are short\u2026 (I\u2019m just under 160 cm tall). So I couldn\u2019t drive it with the same feeling as our GT3.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23031\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/IMG_1728.jpg\" alt=\"Porsche 911 GT3\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p>My husband said:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">For sports bucket seats, <strong>women might want some cushioning<\/strong> to drive comfortably. It might not be as necessary with PDK, but if you need to fully depress the clutch with an MT, it\u2019s definitely essential. By the way, the similarly named and shaped <strong>\u2018Full Bucket Seat\u2019 (commonly called the 918 seat) allows height adjustment<\/strong>, so shorter drivers might prefer the full bucket seat.<\/p>\n<p>He added.<\/p>\n<p>Also, because this seat is deeply contoured, it can be quite difficult for women wearing skirts to get in and out, so it might not be ideal for dates (laughs).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23033\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/IMG_1711.jpg\" alt=\"Porsche 911 GT3 full bucket seat\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Body_Rigidity\"><\/span>Body Rigidity<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>This GT3 was equipped with a roll cage, and my husband said, &#8220;<strong>It definitely feels more solid!<\/strong>&#8221; I also felt it was more stable when cornering.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23032\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/IMG_1718.jpg\" alt=\"Porsche 911 GT3\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Engine_and_Engine_Sound\"><\/span>Engine and Engine Sound<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>With only <strong>2,000 km on the odometer, the exhaust hasn\u2019t fully broken in yet<\/strong>, so our GT3 seemed to have a more powerful engine sound. Normally, the 991 late model GT3\u2019s valves only open above 4,000 rpm, but this car was equipped with a remote switch that allowed the valves to stay open from the start.<\/p>\n<p>So hearing that iconic GT3 racing engine sound even at low speeds and low revs was really enjoyable.<\/p>\n<p>By the way, my husband said after riding in this GT3:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">Compared to the GT3 Touring, maybe due to individual differences, <strong>this car felt quieter overall, including mechanical noise<\/strong>. Also, the exhaust note, especially above 4,000 rpm, felt a bit more subdued. Perhaps the presence or absence of the roll cage in the Touring Package vs. Club Sport Package affects how sound enters the cabin. And of course, the GT3\u2019s engine is amazing \u2014 it\u2019s mesmerizing how it revs. Honestly, I doubt many people worldwide have driven so many different spec versions of the GT3 (laughs). After all this driving, if I were to buy another GT3, <strong>I\u2019d probably choose the Club Sport Package with PCCB and PDK<\/strong>. Though it depends on how you plan to use it.<\/p>\n<p>He said.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Differences_Between_the_GT3_PDK_and_MT\"><\/span>Differences Between the GT3 PDK and MT<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Driving the MT GT3 this time, I thought, &#8220;<strong>It\u2019s really fun to control the car myself with a manual transmission.<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23034\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/IMG_1838.jpg\" alt=\"Porsche 911 GT3\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When driving the PDK, I say, &#8220;<strong>The high-performance GT3 is better with PDK!<\/strong>&#8221; and when driving the MT, I say, &#8220;<strong>Manual is definitely more fun!<\/strong>&#8221; \u2014 my opinions flip 180 degrees every time.<\/p>\n<p>But that just shows how each has its own unique appeal, and both are wonderful and enjoyable, which I\u2019ve come to appreciate even more.<\/p>\n<p>The owner is soon parting with this GT3, so I\u2019m grateful to have had the chance to drive it one last time.
