\n\u30fbMessage to readers: I purchased the 718 Boxster GTS as a second car, and it\u2019s a fun car to drive. It\u2019s a car that\u2019s easy to drive around town and perfect even for women.<\/strong><\/p>\n

1) How I Decided to Buy<\/h3>\n

I had set a goal to \u201cown a Porsche by age 50,\u201d and since this year I turned 50, I was able to achieve that goal successfully.<\/p>\n

Also, since I wanted a second car, I chose the Boxster\u2014a sports car<\/strong> with a mid-engine layout<\/strong> that\u2019s a bit cheeky. Plus, it\u2019s an open-top car, so there are many ways to enjoy it, and I\u2019m very satisfied.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I considered buying new, but the waiting period from order to delivery was long, and since I have a personality that can\u2019t stand waiting<\/strong>, I decided to look for a used car and buy if the right one came along.<\/p>\n

I also considered base and S grades, but when I came across this GTS and saw the car, I decided immediately. It was well over my planned budget, but I convinced myself it was worth it because it has high asset value<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

2) Options \/ Specifications<\/h3>\n

One reason I liked the GTS is because it comes with so many options.<\/p>\n

3) From Order to Delivery<\/h3>\n

The car was at a Porsche Center in Kansai. I took a day off to visit and check it out, and decided on the spot. I placed the order then, and the wait was filled with excitement\u2014I spent every day watching Porsche videos on YOUTUBE and online.<\/strong> The delivery took about just under a month.<\/strong><\/p>\n

4) Porsche Performance Impressions<\/h3>\n

\u2460 Engine<\/h4>\n

Many say \u201cIt has to be the 981\u2019s six-cylinder,\u201d but I love the deep, rough, somewhat uneven sound of this four-cylinder and its outstanding acceleration.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2461 PDK<\/h4>\n

The PDK shifts responsively, and switching to Sport or Sport Plus mode offers different driving pleasures. The blipping on downshifts with the paddle shifters feels great, so I highly recommend the Sports Chrono Package for anyone considering a Porsche purchase.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2462 Handling \/ Brakes<\/h4>\n

As expected from Porsche, the \u201ccornering\u201d and \u201cstopping\u201d<\/strong> are amazing. It makes you feel like your driving skills have improved. You can enjoy winding roads even without high speeds.<\/p>\n

\u2463 Fuel Economy<\/h4>\n

I tend to drive at relatively high revs, so my fuel economy is a bit poor\u2026 but for normal driving, I think it\u2019s a fuel-efficient car.<\/p>\n

\u2464 Ride Comfort and Feel<\/h4>\n

It\u2019s stress-free both in town and on winding roads. Being a sports car, the suspension is firm, but it\u2019s excellent for both \u201cquick trips\u201d and \u201cserious driving.\u201d<\/strong> On the highway, unless you select Sport or Sport Plus mode to stiffen the suspension, there\u2019s no harshness.<\/p>\n

Plus, it grips the road like it\u2019s glued on,<\/strong> delivering the true sports car driving experience.<\/p>\n

\u2465 Family Reaction<\/h4>\n

They say, \u201cSo cool!\u201d<\/strong> Although they ride in the passenger seat and don\u2019t drive, they still say it\u2019s fun.<\/strong> The open-top feeling makes familiar places look different, and they seem to enjoy it.<\/p>\n

\u2466 Favorite Points<\/h4>\n

The compact two-seater, silhouette, tire width, looks, and of course Porsche\u2019s superb driving performance make it the perfect second car.<\/p>\n

5) Must-Have Option When Buying a Porsche<\/h3>\n

The Sports Chrono Package.<\/strong> I recommend it because it lets you choose from four modes, making it feel like you\u2019re driving four different cars.<\/strong> The analog stopwatch is a nice touch, too.<\/p>\n

\u3010Normal Mode\u3011<\/strong>\u2026 Quiet sound, lower revs, and shift control optimized for fuel efficiency.
\n\u3010Sport Mode\u3011<\/strong>\u2026 Slightly higher revs, sport exhaust ON with louder sound, and shift control close to Normal mode for upshifts. You can enjoy sporty driving around town and on winding roads.
\n\u3010Sport Plus Mode\u3011<\/strong>\u2026 Truly Spartan. Higher revs, aggressive acceleration, and engine braking on downshifts. The suspension stiffens for circuit-like driving. This mode also enables launch control, though I haven\u2019t tried it yet!
\n\u3010Personal Mode\u3011<\/strong>\u2026 Customizable settings.<\/p>\n

Since the GTS comes standard with sport exhaust and PASM (suspension), you can tailor it to your preferences.<\/p>\n

6) Points of Concern<\/h3>\n

If I had to say, I\u2019d like the car\u2019s height to look a bit lower with a front lip spoiler or something.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Also, I want to try turning off PTV someday, but I\u2019m too scared! Thanks to this PTV traction control, the car turns sharply. The precision of PTV even makes me mistakenly think my driving has improved.<\/strong><\/p>\n

7) Overall Rating<\/h3>\n

5 out of 5 stars!<\/strong> The reason is probably the ease of use and drivability.<\/strong> You don\u2019t have to worry like with a supercar, you can go shopping, enjoy winding roads, and even circuit driving. This versatility is what the Porsche brand is all about, and I\u2019ve heard it\u2019s the \u201cPhilosophy of Dr. Porsche.\u201d<\/p>\n
