When I say, &#8220;<strong>Why don\u2019t you drive one today?<\/strong>&#8221; you just say, &#8220;<strong>No, I\u2019m good<\/strong>&#8221; and don\u2019t get behind the wheel. Why is that?<\/p>\n<p>I wrote about this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/with-kids-fuji-202103\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in an article recently<\/a>, but ever since having our third child, I haven\u2019t really felt like \u201c<strong>driving a sports car and enjoying winding roads<\/strong>\u201d like I used to.<\/p>\n<p>With COVID and the kids still being small, my mindset naturally shifted from \u201cattack mode\u201d to \u201cdefense mode.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, after hearing what my husband said, I thought, &#8220;<strong>Now that I\u2019m a bit more relaxed with parenting, maybe I should take the chance to drive a sports car when I can.<\/strong>&#8221; So I drove the manual 911 GT3 before we said goodbye to it, and on sunny days I took the manual Boxster GTS out for a spin. Although each drive lasted only about 15 minutes, it was incredibly fun.<\/p>\n<p>Plus, driving a manual adds the joy of controlling the car yourself, which made it even better.<span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">(Regardless of how good or bad my driving is, haha)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-22890\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/IMG_1728.jpg\" alt=\"Boxster GTS (Manual)\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Gradually, I started thinking this:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Maybe I should buy my own manual car again\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Thinking_About_Buying_Another_Manual_Car%E2%80%A6\"><\/span>Thinking About Buying Another Manual Car\u2026<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>About two years ago, I <a href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/category\/aboutbmw\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bought my very first car, a BMW 320i (manual)<\/a>. Although I had lifted my automatic-only license restriction about six years ago, even after three years I still couldn\u2019t drive the manual Boxster GTS at home.<\/p>\n<p>I realized, &#8220;<strong>If I don\u2019t buy a car myself and practice driving every day, I\u2019ll never get the hang of it!<\/strong>&#8221; So I made up my mind and bought the car.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-22891\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/IMG_0109-700x480-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Since my budget was limited, I consulted my husband and found a used, standard 320i for about 2.4 million yen. Right after delivery, I stalled the engine repeatedly, but after driving every day, I gradually became able to handle pretty much any road.<\/p>\n<p>Last summer, with a baby on the way and knowing I wouldn\u2019t be driving for a while, plus expecting to drive other cars after birth, I <a href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/sell-bmw320i\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">decided to sell my first car, the 320i.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Since then, I often felt, &#8220;<strong>Manual cars are fun, but automatics are just easier and more comfortable.<\/strong>&#8221; My desire to drive a manual had almost disappeared. But recently, after driving manual cars one after another, that feeling reignited\u2026<\/p>\n<p>So I told my husband,  <\/p>\n<p class=\"well2\">I\u2019ve been driving manuals lately and it\u2019s really fun, so <strong>I\u2019m thinking of buying a manual car again<\/strong>. Considering the budget, I can\u2019t quite afford a Porsche yet, but is there a reasonably priced, somewhat sporty model out there?<\/p>\n<p>He replied,  <\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">Hmm, maybe a Volkswagen Golf or a BMW M Sport\u2026 Or this might be a good chance to look at Japanese cars too. Let\u2019s search around.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, we\u2019ve been checking Car Sensor almost daily and going to dealers for test drives on weekends.
