On the other hand, my husband isn\u2019t fond of networking events or groups, so he never goes to those kinds of gatherings. Apparently, last year he didn\u2019t attend a single business-related dinner meeting at night (though he does barely make it to company welcome parties and events)<\/span>.<\/p>\n Thanks to that, he has trustworthy advisors and colleagues around him, so I feel reassured. But since he comes straight home every day, I once asked him, \u201cHey, don\u2019t you think you should go to some networking events or business owner meetings?<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n His simple reply was,<\/p>\n Nope (-_-)<\/p>\n When I asked, \u201cBut you do have a position and various relationships, right?\u201d he said,<\/p>\n I\u2019m not good at or fond of \u201cbusiness dinners just for the sake of networking,\u201d so I don\u2019t do them at all. If others like that, that\u2019s fine, but it\u2019s just not for me. When I first started my business, I did join some business owner groups and went to social gatherings, but that was really just for a short while. I see\u2026 I tend to get swept up by common wisdom, but my husband really isn\u2019t like that.<\/p>\n I asked, \u201cBut even though you don\u2019t socialize much, you have reliable professionals around you<\/strong>. Did you intentionally create that environment?\u201d<\/p>\n He replied,<\/p>\n No, not intentionally\u2026 My husband loves stories about the Three Kingdoms and the Warring States period, so he often uses the term \u201cgenerals\u201d (laughs).<\/p>\n When I said, \u201cTrue, so-and-so is like Zhao Yun, and so-and-so is like Guan Yu lol,\u201d<\/p>\n Yeah lol. I said, \u201cThat makes sense\u2026 Watching you, I see that if something happens, the generals introduce information and people accurately, creating an environment where you can shortcut toward your goals<\/strong>. That\u2019s really important.\u201d<\/p>\n He said,<\/p>\n Since I was little, I hated being told, \u201cStudy three times as much as others, work three times as hard<\/strong>.\u201d Sure, getting three times the results by doing three times the work is impressive, but I think that\u2019s just \u201caverage\u201d on a scale of low to high. I see\u2026 I tend to think \u201cwork three times as hard,\u201d and since I have some physical and mental stamina, I can do it, but I end up overdoing it and hurting my health (laughs).<\/p>\n That said, my husband does go out for dinner or tours with his car friends.<\/p>\n
\nI\u2019m naturally skeptical of common wisdom. People say, \u201cWhen you start a business, you have to expand your network and get your name out there,\u201d but I first question if that\u2019s really true.
\nThen I realized, \u201cYou can get business without doing all that<\/strong>,\u201d so I stopped going to those events. And in fact, I was able to get business.<\/p>\n
\nBut I have avoided meeting people who casually say, \u201cLet\u2019s exchange information!<\/strong>\u201d Usually, those people don\u2019t have good information.
\nTheir info is often scarce or outdated, and sometimes I actually have newer or better info, so I end up just giving them info and feeling disappointed.
\nSo I\u2019ve avoided people who say \u201cLet\u2019s exchange information.\u201d Also, I avoid people who brag about \u201cI know so-and-so (famous person)\u201d or \u201cI used to work at such-and-such company\u201d lol.
\nTo meet talented people, you have to honestly follow the rule of \u201cbirds of a feather flock together<\/strong>.\u201d I try to imitate or adopt the mindset of people who are more successful or active than me, to get closer to them.
\nBefore I knew it, I was only meeting truly talented people active at the forefront, and I ended up with several trustworthy \u201cgenerals\u201d by my side, and that\u2019s how things run smoothly.<\/p>\n
\nWell, since I only have 24 hours a day, I can\u2019t just socialize with anyone. It\u2019s a bit tricky to explain, but I think it\u2019s important to have the mindset of \u201cassociating with people who have the qualities of heroes<\/strong>.\u201d
\nSomehow\u2026 I think having one general worthy of 100,000 troops is better than having 100,000 troops. Of course, for that, I have to keep improving and studying myself.<\/p>\n
\nIf you do three times the amount, it\u2019s natural to get three times the results. Also, just doing more doesn\u2019t encourage innovation or improvement.
\nI want to aim for \u201cgetting three times the results with one-third the effort<\/strong>.\u201d To do that, you have to think, be creative, and explore new methods, which is tough but more enjoyable and valuable.
