Compared to the GT4, there were quite a few more options, which made choosing a bit tricky.<\/p>\n<p>For now, we created two patterns to introduce.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Pattern A: Spyder Classic Interior Package<\/h4>\n<h5 class=\"style5a\">Interior<\/h5>\n<p>Most likely, <strong>the \u2018Interior package Spyder Classic\u2019 will be the choice for the majority of Spyder buyers this time<\/strong>. This features a combination of Bordeaux Red and black interior, with laser-stitched details and Alcantara on the door panels and center console.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-12381\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/iris-10-800x450.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The two-tone seats look absolutely stunning. Of course, <strong>choosing the lightweight carbon full bucket seats makes it even cooler<\/strong>, but since the Spyder\u2019s character leans toward street use, I personally went with the standard sports seats.<\/p>\n<p>By the way, if you select this <strong>\u2018Interior package Spyder Classic\u2019, you lose most interior customization options, and if you want to change stitching or colors, you have to remove this package<\/strong>. In other words, it\u2019s Porsche\u2019s recommended package.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-12367 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/71ispyder-in.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<h5 class=\"style5a\">Exterior<\/h5>\n<p>For the exterior color, I chose <strong>GT Silver Metallic<\/strong>. This is my favorite silver tone among Porsche\u2019s silvers. When I bought the GT3 Touring, I agonized over this color until the very end. <strong>In sunlight or bright places, it can look like a regular silver, but indoors or in dimmer light, it shows a metallic depth that\u2019s very striking<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Also, with the \u2018Interior package Spyder Classic\u2019, the trim on the center console and cup holder cover is GT Silver, so it matches the exterior color nicely.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-12385\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/iris-6-800x450.jpeg\" alt=\"718 Spyder Spyder Classic Package\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The black soft top also suits well, but <strong>I remembered seeing a silver Boxster with a red soft top that looked incredibly sharp and fitting<\/strong>, so I chose the red soft top. By the way, currently, selecting the red soft top automatically selects the \u2018Interior package Spyder Classic\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-12387\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/iris-11-800x450.jpeg\" alt=\"718 Spyder Spyder Classic Package\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And for the roll bar, I went with <strong>body-color paint<\/strong>. This is one of the options I was glad to have chosen when I bought the Boxster GTS. Just by matching the color, <strong>the roll bar and body feel integrated, giving the whole body a stronger, more solid presence<\/strong>. <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(If left unpainted, the whole car tends to look lower, which has its own appeal.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-12384\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/iris-7-800x450.jpeg\" alt=\"718 Spyder Spyder Classic Package\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For brakes, I chose PCCB. Since <strong>the Spyder will mainly be used on the street rather than the track like the GT4<\/strong>, brake economy isn\u2019t a big concern, and reducing unsprung weight improves ride comfort on rough roads.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-12383\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/iris-8-800x450.jpeg\" alt=\"718 Spyder Spyder Classic Package\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For the lights, you can pick based on your design preference. When I bought the Panamera Turbo, I went with LED PDLS Plus, but it didn\u2019t feel much different from HID in practice, so this time I chose <strong>standard HID with PDLS<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>And just like with the GT4, <strong>I went with the trendy high-gloss black door handles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"q_button bt_blue\" href=\"https:\/\/www.porsche-code.com\/PLB4ZKL8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">718 Spyder (A)<\/a><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Pattern B: A More Mature Spyder<\/h4>\n<h5 class=\"style5a\">Interior<\/h5>\n<p>Unlike Pattern A, I didn\u2019t select the \u2018Interior package Spyder Classic\u2019 and instead tried customizing stitching colors and other details myself. However, <strong>when using browsers like Chrome, Firefox, or Edge, some options don\u2019t reflect correctly in the images or change other parts unexpectedly<\/strong>. This was also an issue with the GT3 configurator before.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_12388\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12388\" class=\"size-large wp-image-12388\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/spyder1-800x425.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"425\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-12388\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Using Internet Explorer lets you view the 3D model and improves accuracy of option reflections<\/p><\/div>\n<p>So, I launched Internet Explorer (IE) and ran the configurator there. <strong>IE supports the Unity 3D plugin, allowing you to check the completed image in 3D and greatly improving the accuracy of option reflections<\/strong>. However, on PCs with weak graphics performance, it can be slow, so I recommend using a PC with decent graphics capabilities.<\/p>\n<p>After much trial and error, I ended up choosing <strong>yellow stitching, door handle straps, and seat belts to match the PCCB yellow calipers<\/strong>. The seats and interior remain standard black for a timeless look.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-12389\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/iris-17-800x450.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<h5 class=\"style5a\">Exterior<\/h5>\n<p>For the exterior color, I picked Crayon (Chalk), which pairs beautifully with yellow and is one of my personal favorites. Other options are the same as Pattern A, but <strong>the soft top is black for a more understated look<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-12390\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/iris-12-800x450.jpeg\" alt=\"718 Spyder\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-12392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/iris-14-800x450.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-12393\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/iris-15-800x450.jpeg\" alt=\"718 Spyder\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"q_button bt_blue\" href=\"https:\/\/www.porsche-code.com\/PLN35SN6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">718 Spyder (B)<\/a><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Common to Both Patterns: Other \/ Comfort Features<\/h4>\n<p><strong>I chose leather for the steering wheel. This is purely personal preference<\/strong>, but I\u2019m not a fan of Alcantara. When I bought the McLaren 650S, it was almost fully Alcantara inside. It\u2019s certainly sporty and cool, but compared to leather, I never felt it had the same sense of luxury, and I regretted it.<\/p>\n<p>Also, <strong>since it\u2019s a convertible, seat heaters are a must<\/strong>. I also added <strong>steering wheel heating<\/strong>. I had this on the AMG S63 Coupe and found it invaluable on very cold days. For a convertible, it\u2019s even more useful in winter. <strong>I regret not having added it to the Boxster GTS as well<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-12394\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/iris-16-800x450.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Other options are mostly the same as with the GT4.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>How did you find it?<br \/>\nBasically, I think you should choose colors you personally like, but the key points are balancing convenience and design, and deciding how much comfort equipment to include.
