Happy New Year! How did everyone spend their holiday season? Thanks to you all, we were able to relax and recharge. This year, too, please enjoy our blog “Welcome Home, PORSCHE<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

Now, the first article of the new year is a test drive report of the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid.<\/p>\n

At Royu Driveway<\/h3>\n

At the end of last year, I had the opportunity to test drive a reader\u2019s Panamera 4 E-Hybrid.<\/p>\n

Actually, over a year ago, when we were still considering replacing our Panamera, I was kindly offered, “Would you like to test drive it?<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

However, after that, I found out I was pregnant, then came the COVID-19 pandemic and childbirth, so it was hectic and I couldn\u2019t make the time. Finally, just recently, I was able to take it for a spin.<\/p>\n

The Panamera was the first Porsche I ever drove and the first car that truly captivated me. I started this blog because of the Panamera<\/strong> (which is why the blog URL is panamera-life)<\/span>. I really love this car, so I was very excited to see how the hybrid model would drive.<\/p>\n

\"Porsche<\/p>\n

The test drive location was, as usual, the Royu Driveway<\/strong>. I checked the weather forecast in advance and chose the warmest, clearest day. I also arranged for someone to watch the kids.<\/p>\n

It was going to be just the two of us on Royu Driveway for the first time in a while, and my husband even prepared the GT3,<\/strong> but… as usual, the forecast changed to rain the day before.<\/p>\n

…I knew it, I just knew this would happen (crying).<\/p>\n

On the day, the sky was gloomy from morning. We left home a bit early to drive Royu, but as soon as we hurriedly got into the GT3, the rain started to fall.<\/p>\n

\"Porsche<\/p>\n

My husband said,<\/p>\n

Why is this happening? You really are a rain magnet. It always rains when you go out. I go to Royu all the time, but it hardly ever rains. I think Royu really hates you, haha.<\/p>\n

I really wonder about my rain luck\u2014maybe I should go get a blessing or something… (-_- )<\/p>\n

\"Royu<\/p>\n

Trying to cheer up, I enjoyed a drive in the GT3 with my husband driving, but with the rain and cold temperatures, the GT3\u2019s cup tires had almost no grip,<\/strong> and even going straight at 50 km\/h, the car slid noticeably. My husband said,<\/p>\n

This is scary. We\u2019ll have to take it slow today.<\/p>\n

So we drove slowly on Royu. I thought, “It\u2019s a shame to be driving without the kids after months,<\/strong>” but given the road conditions, we decided to get to the meeting spot early and wait.<\/p>\n

The Panamera 4 E-Hybrid Arrives<\/h3>\n

After a while, a sapphire blue metallic Panamera 4 E-Hybrid appeared from the distance. So cool! The bright blue body really stood out beautifully on a rainy day.<\/p>\n

When we bought our 971 Panamera, we agonized until the last moment over whether to choose sapphire blue metallic or night blue metallic for the body color.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the end, we decided, “Sapphire blue is cool but too flashy, so let\u2019s go with navy blue<\/strong>,” and chose night blue metallic. But my husband, seeing this sapphire blue Panamera at a glance, said,<\/p>\n

I really should have gone with sapphire blue for our Panamera… It looks amazing! And soon this color won\u2019t even be available anymore…<\/p>\n

(laughs)<\/p>\n

Since this Panamera is a hybrid model, I expected acid green brake calipers, but they were black. The door handles were black too, and the interior seat belts were Bordeaux\u2014a super stylish combination.<\/p>\n

Panamera 4 E-Hybrid Test Drive<\/h3>\n

The Smoothest Ride Among Panameras<\/h4>\n

As soon as I got into the Panamera and looked around the meters and center console, I felt nostalgic\u2014it was unmistakably the same Panamera we had until last summer.<\/p>\n

Also, since the meter display is the same as on our current Cayenne E-Hybrid, it felt very familiar.<\/p>\n

\"Porsche<\/p>\n

Once I started driving, I was surprised by how incredibly smooth the initial throttle response was.<\/strong> Among all the Panameras I\u2019ve driven, including test drives, this one felt the smoothest and most luxurious.<\/p>\n

The Panamera 4 I tested before felt lighter, the GTS was firmer and drier, and our Turbo was heavier and stiffer.<\/p>\n

Also, even though it has an electric motor, it didn\u2019t feel \u201cheavy\u201d at all.<\/strong> My husband said,<\/p>\n

The Panamera Turbo had a V8, so the front was heavy. The hybrid model has a V6, so that might be part of it.<\/p>\n

I was amazed at how luxurious yet light and effortless it felt, gliding forward smoothly.<\/p>\n

Effortless Control at Your Fingertips<\/h4>\n

The Panamera Turbo had a staggering 550 horsepower, so just a little throttle input unleashed a fierce power that could be intimidating.<\/p>\n

In contrast, the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid accelerates gently when you press the pedal and decelerates smoothly when you ease off. It\u2019s a car that lets the driver drive smoothly exactly as they intend.<\/strong><\/p>\n

With all-wheel drive, it felt stable and safe even in the rain. On winding mountain roads, it felt smaller and easier to handle than the Turbo, with surprisingly nimble cornering.<\/p>\n

\"Porsche<\/p>\n

When you hear \u201chybrid,\u201d you might think \u201ceco car, not a sports car,\u201d but this is clearly a sports car through and through.<\/p>\n

Enjoying the Thrill of a Sports Car<\/h4>\n

Lately, I\u2019ve been driving the Cayenne a lot. The Cayenne is very easy to drive, comfortable, and relaxing.<\/strong> It also has a sporty side, with satisfying acceleration when you press the gas on the highway.<\/p>\n

But compared to the Cayenne, the Panamera is overwhelmingly a sports car.<\/strong> The seating position is lower, it\u2019s more agile, and the driving experience is thrilling\u2014making you want to drive more and more.<\/p>\n

\"Porsche<\/p>\n

At one point, I switched from the default E-Power mode to Sport mode and drove. The engine sound was great and the volume just right. Our previous Turbo\u2019s engine was louder and beast-like, but the hybrid\u2019s sound was refined yet well balanced and satisfying.<\/p>\n

I found myself muttering,<\/p>\n

I love the Panamera so much. When the kids grow up and things settle down, I hope I can buy a Panamera again. And this time, I want to buy it myself. Oh, how I want a Panamera!<\/p>\n

Reflections on Driving the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid<\/h3>\n

The Panamera 4 E-Hybrid I drove this time was personally my favorite ride and driving experience among all the Panameras I\u2019ve tried.<\/strong> The balance of comfort and sportiness was outstanding, and the sapphire blue body looked incredibly cool.<\/p>\n

I also think Porsche\u2019s driving feel and comfort vary greatly depending on the grade,<\/strong> and this test drive reaffirmed that.<\/p>\n

Having driven the 970 Panamera Edition and the 971 Panamera Turbo for about five years combined, I thought I knew a lot about the Panamera, but there\u2019s clearly still so much to discover.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a deep car…<\/p>\n

I realize this is a bit of a subjective take, but my husband will write a follow-up report soon, so please look forward to that as well.<\/p>\n
