Back then, I had absolutely no interest in cars, but of course, I had heard of the name Porsche.<\/p>\n
However, I had the image that “Porsche was a car from a world above the clouds, something only celebrities buy<\/strong>,” so even when my husband said he was going to buy one, it didn\u2019t really feel real. At that time, neither of us cared about fashion, gourmet food, or luxury brands, and our lifestyle was far from anything high-end, so that made it even harder to imagine.<\/p>\n That said, I had a somewhat biased notion that “people who drive luxury sports cars tend to live flashier lives<\/strong>,” so I vaguely wondered if owning a Porsche would change our lifestyle…<\/p>\n Five years have passed since then. My husband has bought several Porsches, and I\u2019ve started driving them regularly, so I thought I\u2019d write a little about what has changed and what hasn\u2019t.<\/p>\n First, about what has “not changed<\/strong>“: our family\u2019s lifestyle hasn\u2019t changed much at all in the past five years.<\/strong> Back then, we had one child; now we have three, so there has been change in that sense.<\/p>\n But my husband and I still mostly wear Uniqlo clothes, and the kids wear clothes from Nishimatsuya<\/strong>. When we eat out, it\u2019s usually conveyor belt sushi, Gusto, Jolly Pasta, or McDonald\u2019s. We frequently visit 100-yen shops (we\u2019ve been going almost every week lately, lol)<\/span>. Our home hasn\u2019t changed, and we shop at the same supermarkets.<\/p>\n Honestly, it\u2019s surprising how little has changed\u2026 maybe we should change a bit more (laughs).<\/p>\n Part of why our lifestyle hasn\u2019t changed is that we don\u2019t put much emphasis on clothes, food, or housing, but I also think a big reason is that “Porsche is a sports car that can be used comfortably in everyday life<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n As the saying goes, “Race on Sunday, drive on Monday<\/strong>,” Porsches can be used for everything from circuit driving to grocery shopping.<\/p>\n We had a Panamera for a long time, so it was definitely easier to use daily than a 2-door or 2-seater, but even so, we sometimes went grocery shopping in the 911 or Boxster. The ride height isn\u2019t too low, and there\u2019s plenty of cargo space, so there really wasn\u2019t anywhere we couldn\u2019t go.<\/p>\n With supercars, I imagine there are many places you can\u2019t go due to flashy looks or low ride height, but because Porsche can be used without issue in daily life, our lifestyle hasn\u2019t really changed much<\/strong>, I think.<\/p>\n On the other hand, what “has changed<\/strong>” is that my husband\u2019s motivation for work has increased even more. Back then, he said:<\/p>\n I decided to buy a Porsche and worked hard for it, but now that I have one, I\u2019m so busy with work that I hardly have time to drive it. I love driving, and I want to spend even one more minute behind the wheel of my beloved Porsche and explore many roads. So, I\u2019m focusing on building systems so the company can run smoothly even without me.<\/strong> On top of that, I\u2019ll work hard and earn enough so that owning multiple Porsches is no problem at all!<\/p>\n He worked toward that goal, and since around last year, he\u2019s been able to take a lot more free time.<\/strong> Without buying a Porsche, he might not have reached this point, or it might have taken much longer.<\/p>\n As for me, by chance I started this Porsche blog, and gradually “buying a Porsche with my own money<\/strong>” became my goal. I\u2019m now steadily moving toward that goal. These days, I often write blog posts on my laptop while standing and gently rocking my son in a baby carrier<\/strong> (I\u2019m doing exactly that right now, lol)<\/span>. Even after having our third child, what drives me from deep inside is thanks to Porsche.<\/p>\n There\u2019s one more big change before and after owning a Porsche. I think this is the biggest change: “the people we meet have changed<\/strong>.” For several years now, my husband has been going almost every week to the Royu Driveway observatory (he chose our current home partly because he wanted easy access to Royu)<\/span>, where he meets many Porsche owners and car enthusiasts, and he always has wonderful encounters.<\/p>\n My husband rarely goes out to eat with others (he eats dinner at home every day)<\/span>, but he\u2019s been invited to meals with car friends, tours, circuit drives, garage visits, and even rides in classic cars<\/strong>. He\u2019s had many great experiences.<\/p>\n He says about 90% of the conversations are about cars, but he also often says the glimpses of life philosophy and work ethics he catches in between are “super educational!<\/strong>”<\/p>\n Many of these people are ones he would never have met through work, so I\u2019m glad our connections have expanded so much through Porsche. Watching from the sidelines, I feel the same.<\/p>\n Listening to these people has also shifted my values a bit. Until now, I was all about work, running headlong with work occupying my mind 24\/7, but now I think it\u2019s wonderful to live richly while enjoying hobbies and family time. (Maybe I burned out because I pushed myself too hard for too long, lol)<\/span><\/p>\n Regarding the blog, I want to explore various possibilities in the future, freely and without constraints, always excited and curious like a child, growing older with the important people in my life.<\/p>\n They say meeting people changes your life, and I truly believe that.<\/p>\n When I finally buy a Porsche with my own money, I\u2019m sure I\u2019ll see a different world again, so I want to keep taking steady steps forward.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"5 Years of Owning a Porsche The first time my husband\u2019s very first Porsche, a Boxster GTS, came home to us was in November 2015.
