{"id":37562,"date":"2019-08-25T11:32:16","date_gmt":"2019-08-25T02:32:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/?p=37562"},"modified":"2020-08-23T08:46:22","modified_gmt":"2020-08-22T23:46:22","slug":"royudriveway-201908","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/en\/entry\/royudriveway-201908\/","title":{"rendered":"Family Drive with the Porsche 911 GT3 and Boxster Duo"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"style3a\">With the GT3 and Boxster<\/h3>\n<p>Now that I\u2019ve finally gotten the hang of driving the manual Boxster GTS, last Sunday I decided to take the kids along and head to the <strong>Royu Driveway with both the GT3 and the Boxster.<\/strong> When we climbed up to the Royu lookout in July, I hadn\u2019t applied sunscreen and ended up with a severe sunburn on my arms and d\u00e9colletage, like this\u2193<span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(see photo below)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-13245 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_4170-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This time, I slathered sunscreen \u201clike there\u2019s no tomorrow\u201d on my <strong>face, arms, neck, and d\u00e9colletage<\/strong>, and on top of that, I bought a serious straw hat for farming use at the home center, so we were fully prepared.<span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(At this point, fashion didn\u2019t matter)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-13433 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_4578-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Actually, this was my first time driving the Boxster all the way from home to the Royu Driveway completely on my own, but I figured I could manage if my husband followed behind in the GT3.<\/p>\n<p>However, the driveway out of our home parking lot is a tricky slope, and since the auto-hold didn\u2019t work, when I took my foot off the brake, the car rolled back more than I expected\u2026 My husband, watching from outside, said,<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">You almost hit the block behind you! (\uff9f\u0434\uff9f)!<\/p>\n<p>Not the best start\u2026 Although I didn\u2019t hit anything, I was pretty nervous as I got the car moving.<\/p>\n<p>That said, I\u2019m used to driving manuals, so I actually managed fine, and the drive went smoothly without stalling or breaking into a sweat. We arrived safely at the Royu lookout. Phew \u03b5-(\u00b4\u2200\uff40*)<\/p>\n<p>By the way, there was a tweet that morning saying, \u201c<strong>It was full by 7 a.m.!<\/strong>\u201d so we were worried there might be no parking when we arrived just after 8 a.m., but luckily a spot opened up just in time.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-13437 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_4482-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-13438 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_4483-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That day, we met owners who had previously taken me for a ride in their Roadster, Twitter followers, my husband\u2019s Instagram followers, and many new faces. Some even said,<\/p>\n<p class=\"well2\">I saw on Twitter yesterday that you\u2019d be coming up Royu with the Boxster and GT3, so I wanted to be there for this special day when you brought both cars! (laughs)<\/p>\n<p>Thank you so much!<\/p>\n<p>We also had the chance to meet a famous air-cooled Porsche owner who was featured in 911DAYS. Apparently, they had been reading my blog for some time, and I had heard about them from various sources, so it was truly a \u201c<strong>finally meeting you!<\/strong>\u201d moment.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-13444 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_4585-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-13445 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_4579-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">The Charm of Royu Driveway<\/h3>\n<p>Once again, I deeply felt, \u201c<strong>Everyone at Royu is so nice.<\/strong>\u201d I recall a reader once commented about the Royu Driveway:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well2\">The road is fairly fun to drive. Motorcycles are restricted on Sundays, so it\u2019s safe. Until around 11 a.m., there are fewer tourist cars heading to Arima, so it\u2019s not crowded. Also, since it\u2019s a relatively expensive toll road, traffic volume is low. For these reasons, <strong>it\u2019s an ideal environment for a drive on the driveway.<\/strong> Thanks to this, <strong>many true car enthusiasts who drive for the joy of driving gather here<\/strong> (this is important, haha).<br \/>\nIf you gather with people who treat their cars as fashion icons or just love showing off, you won\u2019t have much in common. In that sense, regulars at Royu are genuine car lovers who enjoy driving, regardless of car model or age, and everyone welcomes each other, making for great conversations.<br \/>\nThat\u2019s the vibe here, lol.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Exactly, exactly!!!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>What a spot-on analysis. It\u2019s not that owning a car as a fashion statement is wrong, but among the many types of car lovers, <strong>Royu attracts those with good manners and respect who purely love cars and driving,<\/strong> so conversations flow easily and it feels comfortable here.<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/royudriveway-201908\/2\/\">Next page \u2192 A two-shot of the Boxster and GT3, and even a Boxster Spyder\u2026!<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">Photo Session with the GT3 and Boxster\u2026<\/h3>\n<p>Before I knew it, <strong>after chatting with owners for 30 minutes, I was drenched in sweat.<\/strong> The kids were sweating too, so to avoid heatstroke, we took a break inside the Boxster.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-13443 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_4473-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-13442 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_4582-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The temperature that morning was 28\u00b0C, but because of the altitude, the sun was intense, and when there was no breeze, it felt like 35\u00b0C.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-13446 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_4583-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-13455 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_4471-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After the break, we continued admiring everyone\u2019s cars and chatting, but it was just too hot\u2026 (-_-) The kids wanted soft serve ice cream, so we took another break. As we started to get tired, we decided to leave the lookout just before 10 a.m.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-13453 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_4590-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Since we came with two cars, we stopped at a usual photo spot <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(not really a secret spot, though)<\/span> to take a <strong>two-shot of the Boxster and GT3 before heading home.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-13447 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_4594-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-13448 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_4593-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While excitedly snapping photos saying, \u201c<strong>Finally got this two-shot! It looks insanely cool!<\/strong>\u201d we heard the roar of a sports car engine approaching. It was a 981 Boxster Spyder and a 911 4S <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(a rare limited 993 model)!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>They were acquaintances of my husband, who stopped by, and we managed to capture a rare four-shot photo of the <strong>GT3 Touring, Boxster GTS, Boxster Spyder, and 993 4S.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-13450 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_4503-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-13449 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_4500-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-13451 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_4502-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-13454 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_4586-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Though it was only about two hours, the Royu Driveway trip was a lot of fun.
