The other day, my husband finally decided after much deliberation to have a decal applied to our GT3, so I asked him to write an article about it. Please take a look. <\/p>\n

Should We Put a Decal on the GT3?<\/h3>\n

Originally, when we bought the GT3, there was one thing we seriously debated until the very end. <\/p>\n

That was whether or not to apply a decal<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

Even though it\u2019s a GT3, it\u2019s the Touring Package, so making it too racey felt a bit off. On the other hand, putting on decals similar to those on the 911R, which shares a similar concept, was also an option. <\/p>\n

\"911R\" <\/p>\n

At the time, if we were to put on decals, we considered two patterns: <\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Just the PORSCHE logo side decal<\/li>\n
  2. The side decal plus racing stripes on the body<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    After researching, we found a GT3 Touring owner on Instagram who had applied the exact ideal decal<\/strong>, and we used that as a reference, simulating and editing with Photoshop ourselves. <\/p>\n

    After much thought, we decided to “drive it stock at delivery for now<\/strong>” and reconsider later. <\/p>\n

    After that, we put the decal on hold and had the dealer paint the door handles in high-gloss black\u2014a detail we forgot to order initially\u2014gradually bringing our ideal GT3 Touring closer to reality. <\/p>\n

    We Put on the Decal<\/h3>\n

    One day, when we saw a friend\u2019s GT3 Touring on the Royu Driveway, we noticed they had a ‘PORSCHE’ decal on the side.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

    Seeing it in person, it looked extremely cool and gave the side a tighter, more defined look.<\/strong> It was as if the car had shed some belly fat, looking slimmer and even lower to the ground. <\/p>\n

    When we asked the owner, it turned out this was not a factory decal but one custom-made by a shop.<\/strong> They had previously tried factory decals on another car but found them thin and prone to air bubbles, so this time they went with an original design. <\/p>\n

    We were introduced to that shop, and a few days later brought our GT3 in. Seeing the decal quality and color options firsthand, we were impressed by the solid build and variety of colors, so we decided to have them apply it. <\/p>\n

    For the decal, we wanted: <\/p>\n

      \n
    • a color slightly lighter than black, like a dark silver tone<\/li>\n
    • to match the Satin Platinum color of the wheels as closely as possible<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Looking at the color samples, there was a shade called something like “Charcoal” (I forgot the exact name), which was a dark gray-silver with just a hint of brown.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

      When matched against the body\u2019s Crayon yellow tint, the slight brown in the decal color complemented it perfectly, and it was also the closest match to the wheel color. Plus, depending on the light, it could look black, silver, or gray\u2014which we really liked.<\/strong> So we went with that. <\/p>\n

      We left the car for about two days, and when we picked it up, our GT3 looked incredibly sharp. The belly area looked much slimmer, and the rear fender bulges were even more pronounced. <\/p>\n

      Originally, I wasn\u2019t really a fan of putting decals on cars, but now that it\u2019s on, it gives me a fresh feeling when driving and I really like the look. This has sparked a new interest in customizing the car a little here and there. <\/p>\n
