But recently, I realized something surprising:  <\/p>\n<p class=\"well2\">I myself have been \u201ctonaling\u201d others.<\/p>\n<p>I usually drive a <strong>BMW 320i and occasionally the Panamera.<\/strong> The 320i is common enough around my neighborhood, but the Panamera is rare, so whenever I spot one at a supermarket or elsewhere, I get really excited\u2014and <strong>end up \u201ctonaling\u201d it without thinking.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Just the other day, I parked at a supermarket, went shopping, and when I came back, there was a <strong>Panamera parked right next to mine!<\/strong> Normally, I might have thought, \u201cWhy would someone bother to tonaler me?\u201d but this time I was thrilled:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWow, they went out of their way to park side by side! So cool!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I got so excited I took tons of photos.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-13890\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/IMG_4457-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-13891\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/IMG_4919-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Later, when I went to park at another lot, I noticed a Panamera already there, so I instinctively parked right next to it. Well, it wasn\u2019t a wide-open lot; there weren\u2019t many spaces left.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-13892\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/IMG_4658-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-13894\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/IMG_4659-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Honestly, how many photos do I need to take lining them up? I\u2019m such a tonaler (lol)!<\/p>\n<p>Then on another day, I went shopping in the 320i and saw a Cayenne and a Panamera parked side by side. At that moment, I thought, <strong>\u201cIf only I\u2019d come in the Panamera, I could have parked next to it!\u201d<\/strong> but I just took a photo and left it at that.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-13896\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/\u30b9\u30af\u30ea\u30fc\u30f3\u30b7\u30e7\u30c3\u30c8-2019-09-12-13.18.06-800x566.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"566\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">The Sense of Camaraderie Among Panamera Owners<\/h3>\n<p>But when I think about it calmly, parking a Panamera next to another Panamera is actually <strong>riskier because both are large cars, increasing the chance of door dings or scratches<\/strong>. So logically, it shouldn\u2019t be welcomed\u2014but somehow, it feels <strong>completely fine, even joyful<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s going on here?<\/p>\n<p>People say we tend to feel affection for those who share something in common or have similar circumstances. For example, when you meet someone who supports the same baseball team, you might say, \u201cReally? You\u2019re a fan of ___? We\u2019re gonna get along great!\u201d even without knowing much else about them.<\/p>\n<p>I think that\u2019s the same feeling that lets strangers bond on a Sunday morning on the Royu Driveway.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-13446\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_4583-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In other words, <strong>the urge to tonaler a Panamera when you spot one in a parking lot is like a budding sense of camaraderie<\/strong>. Among Porsches, Panameras are less common in town than Cayennes or 911s, so just seeing another Panamera makes you genuinely happy.<\/p>\n<p>Thinking about it that way, it all comes down to:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cIt\u2019s not what you do, but who does it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The reaction to being \u201ctonaled\u201d depends greatly on <strong>what kind of car is doing the tonaling<\/strong>. Of course, parking so close that the door can\u2019t open or causing a nuisance is unacceptable.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, when car accident news breaks, if it\u2019s a common domestic car, the report just says \u201ca domestic car was involved in an accident.\u201d But if it\u2019s a luxury car like a <strong>Porsche, Ferrari, or Lamborghini<\/strong>, the headlines always call it out by name: <strong>\u201cPorsche involved in accident!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So it really is about who does it, not just what is done.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m drifting off-topic, but the tonaler issue <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(and tailgating, etc.)<\/span> is something that can never be fully solved by thinking or arguing about it.
