My husband recently had the chance to test drive the new Cayenne E-Hybrid at the dealer, and he said something that really stuck with me.<\/p>\n

I think this applies to other brands too, but especially with Porsche, no matter how much you hear about it, you just don\u2019t get it until you actually test drive one. The new hybrid I drove recently was even better than I expected. It was truly impressive.<\/p>\n

Usually, my husband is pretty calm and composed even after test drives, so for him to be this impressed, the Cayenne Hybrid must have been really something special.<\/strong> At this rate, who knows, maybe he\u2019s about to become a full-on Porsche fan.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s test driven various models at Porsche dealers whenever something caught his eye, and here\u2019s what he said about Porsche test drives:<\/p>\n

Regarding Porsche test drives, I think it\u2019s important to know that even with the same model, your impression can vary quite a bit depending on the options and specs of the test car.<\/strong> Generally, dealer test cars tend to be loaded with ultra-luxury options, sometimes costing over 5 million yen. Those give you a high-quality feel and comfortable ride, but if you get a test car with sportier options, you might feel like the ride is rougher than you expected.<\/p>\n

That makes sense when you think about it.<\/p>\n

He continued,<\/p>\n

Recently, I got to drive a 911 (992) with a lot of sporty options. It was a 992 Carrera S loaded with PCCB, sport PASM suspension, RS Spyder wheels, and more. It felt completely different from other 992s I\u2019d driven before. The handling was sporty and solid, but the low-speed ride in town felt closer to a GT3, though not as supple as a GT3\u2019s suspension. For me, it was totally acceptable, but if someone expecting a comfortable ride in a 911 tried this spec for the first time, they might come away thinking the 911\u2019s ride quality isn\u2019t very good.<\/p>\n

You should know that the actual driving and ride feel can differ between the test car and the one you buy due to differences in options and specs.<\/strong> Especially if you\u2019re choosing from stock cars rather than ordering new, it\u2019s important to carefully check the options. Also, most manufacturer press cars used in magazine and YouTube reviews are loaded with options,<\/strong> so keep that in mind. Reviewers who mention options in their evaluations are more trustworthy in my opinion. From my personal experience, with Porsche, PCCB, large option wheels, PDCC, PASM, air suspension, rear axle steering, and PTV tend to have the biggest impact on ride comfort and feel,<\/strong> so it\u2019s good to check whether these options are included. Just to be clear, having all these options doesn\u2019t automatically mean it\u2019s better.<\/strong> It depends on the combination, and sometimes a normal wheel with standard springs can be perfectly fine. Also, whether you prioritize driving performance or comfort will greatly affect your evaluation.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s what he said. I can\u2019t absorb that much info from a single test drive, but wow, Porsche really is deep.<\/p>\n

Thinking about it that way, when you test drive at a dealer, it\u2019s best not just to take any test drive, but to try to drive a car as close as possible to the specs and options you want.<\/p>\n

That said, I don\u2019t think dealers have that many test cars available,<\/strong> so it might be good to try two cars with quite different specs of the same model to get as much info as possible.<\/p>\n

When I asked my husband about that,<\/p>\n

Yeah. Also, if time allows, it\u2019s better to drive on various roads at a relaxed pace.<\/strong> Just driving around local traffic jams near the dealer won\u2019t reveal Porsche\u2019s charm. In fact, in such situations, you might even think a regular luxury sedan is better. It\u2019s good to also try highways and then consider what specs and options you\u2019d want if you bought one. If you\u2019re seriously considering buying, the salesperson will probably let you experience a lot.<\/p>\n

When I said, “But if it\u2019s your first time test driving a Porsche, I might feel hesitant to ask for so many test drives…<\/strong>” he replied,<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t think you need to worry that much. Our sales rep H-san (our family\u2019s contact)<\/span> often says, “Porsche is all about test driving. You\u2019ll understand once you drive it. So if you\u2019re interested in a model, please come and test drive it.<\/strong>” But if you\u2019re going, it\u2019s better to check availability and make a reservation in advance.<\/strong> Not all models are always available, and it\u2019d be a waste to go and find your desired model isn\u2019t there.<\/p>\n

He said. That\u2019s true… Before I first drove a Porsche, I thought,<\/p>\n

Porsches are really expensive. Even though they\u2019re a prestigious luxury sports car brand, why do so many people admire and want them so much?<\/p>\n

But when I finally drove one,<\/p>\n

It was completely different from any car I\u2019d driven before. It responds exactly as I expect, with no lag.<\/strong> So this is the feeling of being one with the car! Porsche is amazing!<\/p>\n

I was thrilled.<\/p>\n

At that time, I knew nothing about cars and had driven very few, so maybe that made it even more impressive, but still, I felt I understood a little why so many people admire and want a Porsche.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lately, with the baby and all, I haven\u2019t been able to test drive at all, so I just hear about my husband\u2019s experiences.
