I\u2019d like to summarize a few reasons here.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">1 Your Evaluation Changes Based on the Car You Usually Drive<\/h4>\n<p>Your evaluation of a test-driven car varies completely depending on what car you usually drive. Often, you use your everyday car as a baseline and compare or analyze the test car against it.<\/p>\n<p>For example, we once had a Volkswagen Golf 7 at home. It had a wonderfully flat and comfortable ride, so I praised it highly, thinking, &#8220;<strong>If I drove this for a while, it might even start to feel like a Porsche.<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"GkwzGCwb27\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/good-bye-golf-thank-you-golf\/\">\u3055\u3088\u306a\u3089\u30b4\u30eb\u30d57\u3001\u305d\u3057\u3066\u3042\u308a\u304c\u3068\u3046 &#8211; \u7d043\u5e74\u9593\u6240\u6709\u3057\u3066\u306e\u7dcf\u8a55<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/good-bye-golf-thank-you-golf\/embed\/#?secret=GkwzGCwb27\" data-secret=\"GkwzGCwb27\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" title=\"&#8220;\u3055\u3088\u306a\u3089\u30b4\u30eb\u30d57\u3001\u305d\u3057\u3066\u3042\u308a\u304c\u3068\u3046 &#8211; \u7d043\u5e74\u9593\u6240\u6709\u3057\u3066\u306e\u7dcf\u8a55&#8221; &#8212; \u30dd\u30eb\u30b7\u30a7\u304c\u308f\u304c\u5bb6\u306b\u3084\u3063\u3066\u304d\u305f - \u30aa\u30fc\u30ca\u30fc\u30ba\u30d6\u30ed\u30b0\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>However, after test driving a Cayenne at the dealer and being impressed by its smoothness and superb driving performance, I got back into the Golf and suddenly felt that the ride, which I had always thought was &#8220;wonderful,&#8221; was actually rough and unpleasant.<\/p>\n<p>My husband even said, &#8220;<strong>Hey, is something loose on the Golf or something?<\/strong>&#8221; because he couldn\u2019t feel that smoothness in the ride. But after a while, as we started to forget the Cayenne\u2019s ride, the Golf once again felt truly excellent.<\/p>\n<p>At that moment, I thought, &#8220;<strong>Human perception is really like that \u2014 not very reliable at all (-_-)<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-2797\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/IMG_4513-1024x683-e1530661001752-800x534.jpg\" alt=\"Volkswagen Golf 7\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p>So, even if you say simply, &#8220;<strong>I\u2019m reviewing a Porsche test drive<\/strong>,&#8221; the evaluation will be completely different depending on whether the person usually drives a Mercedes-Benz or a BMW. Also, within Porsche owners themselves, <strong>a Boxster owner\u2019s evaluation of a Cayman will be very different from a 911 owner\u2019s evaluation of the same Cayman<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Thinking about this, I realize that this Porsche blog\u2019s key point is that it\u2019s &#8220;<strong>Porsche lovers who are Porsche owners evaluating other cars<\/strong>.&#8221; That perspective is very important.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">2 Evaluations Vary According to Personal Preferences<\/h4>\n<p>Everyone has likes and dislikes. Some people &#8220;<strong>love Porsche\u2019s design<\/strong>,&#8221; while others &#8220;<strong>dislike Porsche\u2019s design<\/strong>.&#8221; Some &#8220;<strong>love Ferrari\u2019s driving<\/strong>,&#8221; while others &#8220;<strong>dislike Ferrari\u2019s driving<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This is more about personal taste than right or wrong.<\/p>\n<p>By the way, <strong>my husband loves Porsche, but his younger brother prefers Ferrari or Lamborghini over Porsche<\/strong>, so while they often have lively car discussions, there are also parts where they just can\u2019t see eye to eye (laughs).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-14815\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/IMG_1226-800x600-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When my husband and I test drive cars, we don\u2019t focus much on interior luxury or extensive safety features; instead, we often look at whether the car drives well.<\/p>\n<p>Also, we like a flat and firm ride, so we enjoy the ride quality of Porsche and Golf, but conversely, <strong>we\u2019re not fond of the soft ride that\u2019s generally popular with most people.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>These kinds of preferences also make it difficult to express things clearly.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">3 There Are People Who Love This Car<\/h4>\n<p>Sometimes when we drive a domestic loaner car, we\u2019re surprised by its performance in a different way and think, &#8220;<strong>Honestly, this just won\u2019t do&#8230;<\/strong>&#8221; <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(Not that all domestic cars are bad)<\/span>. But when we look it up online, we find there are definitely people who love that car, so I think, &#8220;<strong>Maybe I should soften my words when writing a test drive review&#8230;<\/strong>&#8221; and sometimes end up not writing the article at all.<\/p>\n<p>On the flip side, if I do post a review on the blog, it means &#8220;<strong>the car was pretty good enough to write about<\/strong>&#8221; (laughs).<\/p>\n<p>These are some of the difficulties in writing test drive reviews. When I talked about this with my husband, he said:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">Our blog is basically written by people who love Porsche\u2014or rather, people who love driving itself more than the car\u2014so we pretty much ignore things like how much cargo space there is or how roomy the interior is, making our reviews quite biased, lol.<br \/>\nIn the end, I think it depends on &#8220;<strong>what the person is looking for?<\/strong>&#8221; For someone seeking a comfortable ride, even the most amazing sports car will seem terrible, and conversely, someone wanting a sharp sports car won\u2019t like any luxurious, spacious minivan.<br \/>\nAlso, the car you drove just before is pretty important and can completely change your evaluation. For example, in our case, &#8220;<strong>after driving the GT3, the Panamera feels amazing<\/strong>,&#8221; but &#8220;<strong>after driving the Boxster, the 964 feels&#8230; hmm&#8230;<\/strong>&#8221; However, if you drive the Panamera before the 964, you think &#8220;<strong>Oh, that\u2019s nice!<\/strong>&#8221; I don\u2019t know why, but it seems the combination changes your evaluation.<br \/>\nRight now, I\u2019m secretly experimenting with using smartphone vibration and noise sensor apps to quantify various values and add them to reviews. That way, it\u2019ll be more objective. Well, I\u2019m not sure how it\u2019ll turn out, but I\u2019m trying different apps now.<\/p>\n<p>Vibration and noise sensor apps\u2026!?
