For the 20th installment, we have a purchase, options, and driving review of the rare Japan-only model, the 911 Turbo S Exclusive<\/strong>, kindly provided by \u201caccent.\u201d <\/p>\n

1) How the Purchase Came About<\/h3>\n

One morning, while browsing the American Porsche website, I discovered the 911 Turbo S Exclusive<\/strong>. I hadn\u2019t driven a Porsche for a while, but I thought, \u201cIf this model comes to Japan, I want to drive a Porsche again!\u201d<\/strong> <\/p>\n

Soon after it appeared on the Japanese site, I headed straight to the dealer and placed a reservation. Since this model was limited to just six units in Japan<\/strong>, I had almost forgotten about it when the dealer contacted me to say, \u201cYour car is ready for purchase.\u201d<\/strong> <\/p>\n

I thought, \u201cNo way!\u201d but figured this kind of chance might only come once in a lifetime, so I pushed myself to make the purchase.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

2) Options \/ Specifications<\/h3>\n

It\u2019s fair to say the car is fully optioned. However, the choices were limited to features like \u201cAdaptive Cruise Control,\u201d \u201cFront Lift,\u201d \u201cRear Wiper,\u201d and \u201cBurmester Audio.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

3) Delivery Process<\/h3>\n

It took about half a year from the \u201cYour car is ready for purchase<\/strong>\u201d notice. Limited edition cars apparently undergo different import inspections,<\/strong> so it took several months after arriving in Toyohashi.<\/p>\n

4) Performance Impressions of the 911 Turbo S Exclusive<\/h3>\n

Personally, it feels no different from the 911 Turbo S (991.2). Numerically there may be differences, but sensibly, I don\u2019t think most people, including myself, would notice a big difference.<\/p>\n

\u2460 Engine \/ Engine Sound<\/h4>\n

The engine sound is the distinctive flat-six tone<\/strong>. At idle, it\u2019s very subdued with a dry, lean impression. But once you step on the accelerator, it roars with a thunderous sound and over 600 horsepower that pins your whole body down with gravity, making your head spin.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

Even in city driving, you can precisely control the revs and extract just the right amount of power you want.<\/p>\n

If desired, you can easily induce a power slide with centimeter-level precision, and because torque is linearly distributed to the front wheels during this, it\u2019s also easy to bring the car back as if pulled by invisible ropes from the front.<\/p>\n

With the right conditions, you can enjoy sporty driving with complete peace of mind.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2461 About the PDK<\/h4>\n

The PDK feels much more refined compared to the previous (997.2) model.<\/strong> Also, selecting Sport Plus via the steering wheel switch transforms the shift program into something akin to a racing car.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s so impressive that you might feel like your driving skills have improved.<\/p>\n

\u2462 Ride Comfort and Feel<\/h4>\n

I think it\u2019s excellent. The soft and flat ride quality is maintained across all speeds, and the car firmly holds its ground where it needs to. The body\u2019s rigidity feels like a safe,<\/strong> giving a strong sense of protection and unity with the car every time you corner.<\/p>\n

Also, the seat shape, softness, and support are all outstanding and greatly contribute to the ride comfort.<\/p>\n

\u2463 Handling \/ Brakes<\/h4>\n

I think it\u2019s excellent. Because there\u2019s no engine weight at the front, the spring rates can be softer,<\/strong> which I believe greatly contributes to the feel. Like animals that push off the ground with their hind legs and steer with their front legs, this design philosophy feels rooted in fundamental principles.<\/p>\n

With older 911s, it was common to enter corners with some brake trail to control weight, but with modern 911s, this is almost unnecessary.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As with any Porsche, the brakes inspire absolute confidence.<\/strong> The image is of all four wheels sinking evenly and biting into the road to scrub off speed.<\/p>\n

\u2464 Fuel Economy \/ Maintenance \/ Repairs<\/h4>\n

Fuel economy depends on driving style, but on highways it\u2019s about 12\u201313 km\/L, and even in city driving around my area\u2019s intercity roads, it manages around 10 km\/L. Maintenance is all done at the dealer since the engine is no longer visible and seems to reject amateur attempts to touch it.<\/p>\n

There have been no repairs, but the cost of replacing PCCB brakes is naturally a concern.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2465 Family and Others\u2019 Reactions<\/h4>\n

There was a time when my wife drove the 911 regularly, and she said, \u201cThat car goes exactly where you want, is easy to drive as you wish, and people often yield the road\u2014it\u2019s fun to drive.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Since we live in rural Northern Kanto, 911s are rare, and kids and high schoolers often get excited when they see it at convenience stores or service areas, where people stop to stare. I\u2019ve even been approached by people who share a passion for Porsche, which is always a learning experience.<\/p>\n

\u2466 Favorite Points<\/h4>\n

Everything, but if I had to pick, it would be the unique interior of the Turbo S Exclusive.<\/strong> The ceiling and seats feature dot-patterned lines that flow from the exterior design, and the gold stitching is vivid, giving the whole interior a sharp, refined look.<\/p>\n

I also love reclining the seats fully, relaxing while listening to my favorite music, and gazing up at that ceiling.<\/p>\n

5) Options I Would Definitely Choose When Buying a Porsche in the Future<\/h3>\n

I think it depends on your budget. I struggled with the carbon wheels but gave up because I need studless tires.<\/p>\n

6) Points of Concern<\/h3>\n

If I had to say\u2026 maybe it\u2019s just a bit too normal\u2026?<\/p>\n

7) Overall Impression<\/h3>\n

It\u2019s the \u201cbest kind of normal.\u201d<\/strong> You can drive it anytime, anywhere. Reclining the seat to relax is like riding a \u201cmagic carpet.\u201d<\/p>\n

8) What Does Porsche Mean to You?<\/h3>\n

I\u2019ve thought a lot about this question. Of course, there\u2019s performance\u2014acceleration, deceleration, jerk, behavior, mechanics, silhouette, concept, history\u2026 the list is endless.<\/p>\n

Including the Porsche brand I\u2019ve known since childhood, \u201cWhat exactly do I love about this car and why do I drive it? What is a car, what is a sports car\u2026 and what does it mean to love something?\u201d<\/strong> I\u2019ve pondered this so much that I still don\u2019t have a clear answer.<\/p>\n

But for now, I\u2019ve come to the conclusion that a Porsche is a car you don\u2019t need to think about.<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you go to a Porsche store, they definitely sell great cars, so as an amateur, there\u2019s no need for me to fuss or compare endlessly. The noble spirit behind making this car, the unwavering will it embodies, and the experience of seeing and driving the real thing<\/strong> leave me speechless.<\/p>\n

My wife drives it too and seems to like it.<\/strong> Although when I start talking passionately, she starts yawning. (laughs)<\/p>\n

Usually, I park it in the tower parking of our apartment and only drive it occasionally on days off, but I always carry the key with me.<\/strong> Just that alone keeps my heart healthy.<\/p>\n
