The event had been held at Yokohama\u2019s Red Brick Warehouse in previous years, but this time it was coming to Osaka. Many Porsche owners my husband knew were also planning to bring their cars.<\/p>\n<p>Before the event, my husband told me it would run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. \u201c<strong>What are you supposed to do there for that long? Do people vote on which Porsche is the best or something?<\/strong>\u201d I asked. \u201cI don\u2019t know. There\u2019s no schedule or anything. I think we just display our cars,\u201d he replied.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>But isn\u2019t there nowhere nearby to kill time? Are you really going to stay there for seven hours?<\/strong>\u201d I asked. \u201cI\u2019m not sure, but I\u2019ll go and see,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Red Brick Warehouse in Yokohama is surrounded by sightseeing spots and attracts plenty of visitors, but I wondered what the atmosphere would be like in Osaka\u2019s Chikko district. I was feeling a little under the weather, so I had already decided not to go.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">My Husband Comes Home for a While<\/h3>\n<p>On the day of the event, my husband left around 6 a.m. to drop off the car. But just after 9, I got a message: \u201c<strong>I caught up with some of the Royu crew, but there\u2019s not much to do, so I\u2019m heading home for a bit.<\/strong>\u201d He left the GT3 at the venue and was back home by around 10:30.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">I never expected him to come home in the middle of it\u2026 lol<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">\u201cThere\u2019s not much nearby except the Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan. And people kept asking, \u2018Hey, isn\u2019t your wife coming today?\u2019 lol\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hearing that made me want to see the event after all, so once we\u2019d had lunch, we decided to head over.<\/p>\n<p>The weather stayed sunny all day <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(maybe it cleared up because I wasn\u2019t planning to go lol)<\/span>, and when we arrived, around 150 Porsches were lined up. There were lots of air-cooled cars, though I hear the Yokohama event usually has more water-cooled models, too.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-15267\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_5567-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-15257\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_5519-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-15258\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_5564-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>My husband brought his GT3 Touring. He told me there were only three GT3 Tourings on display that day, including his.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-15259\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_0812-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-15260\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_5565-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-15261\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_5566-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I was amazed by how many people had come from Kyushu, Nagoya, and the Tokyo area, judging by their license plates. They must have driven all the way there themselves\u2014that\u2019s impressive. As we looked at the Porsches one by one, my husband kept pointing out cars and explaining what made them special: \u201c<strong>This one is incredibly rare!<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-15262\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_5553-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-15263\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_5554-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Some of the models were ones I\u2019d never seen before. It struck me that you don\u2019t often get the chance to see so many Porsches together\u2014including such rare examples. As we walked around, we also ran into people we usually see at Royu. One person told us they\u2019d gone to the aquarium to see the whale sharks because there wasn\u2019t much else to do.<\/p>\n<p>Well, that makes sense\u2014you\u2019d probably do the same thing lol.<\/p>\n<p>And of all the roughly 150 Porsches on display, our kids\u2019 favorite was apparently a little green toy Porsche. (lol)<\/p>\n<p>I had a great time at the event. I finally got to meet in person someone I\u2019d exchanged comments with several times, and I also met Yamaken, who had made the trip all the way from Tokyo by bullet train.<\/p>\n<p>If the event is held in Osaka\u2014or perhaps Kobe\u2014again, I might go as a spectator next time.
