So, I\u2019ve decided to summarize what he\u2019s been saying about the GT3 recently.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Similar_to_the_73_Carrera\"><\/span>Similar to the \u201973 Carrera<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>I previously shared an article about my husband driving a friend\u2019s \u201973 Carrera:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"0xuzxj3FCL\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/73-carrera\/\">\u4f1d\u8aac\u306e911\u300173\u30ab\u30ec\u30e9\u306b\u3064\u3044\u306b\u4e57\u308b\uff01\u3082\u306f\u3084\u30dd\u30eb\u30b7\u30a7\u754c\u306e\u91cd\u8981\u6587\u5316\u8ca1\u3001\u3044\u3084\u3001\u4e16\u754c\u907a\u7523\u3060\uff01<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;\u4f1d\u8aac\u306e911\u300173\u30ab\u30ec\u30e9\u306b\u3064\u3044\u306b\u4e57\u308b\uff01\u3082\u306f\u3084\u30dd\u30eb\u30b7\u30a7\u754c\u306e\u91cd\u8981\u6587\u5316\u8ca1\u3001\u3044\u3084\u3001\u4e16\u754c\u907a\u7523\u3060\uff01&#8221; &#8212; \u30dd\u30eb\u30b7\u30a7\u304c\u308f\u304c\u5bb6\u306b\u3084\u3063\u3066\u304d\u305f - \u30aa\u30fc\u30ca\u30fc\u30ba\u30d6\u30ed\u30b0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/73-carrera\/embed\/#?secret=0xuzxj3FCL\" data-secret=\"0xuzxj3FCL\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Right after driving that \u201973 Carrera, he got into his own GT3 and realized just how similar they felt. When I asked what exactly felt so alike between a car made over 40 years ago and the latest model, he said:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">It\u2019s definitely the handling. Also, the engine sound\u2014especially when the GT3\u2019s exhaust valves open, it sounds really similar. If I\u2019d driven each car on different days, I might not have noticed as much, but <strong>because I drove the \u201973 Carrera and then immediately drove the GT3 on exactly the same road, it really stood out<\/strong>.<br \/>\nI even found myself shouting, \u2018<strong>Wow, amazing! They feel so much alike!<\/strong>\u2019 (laughs)<br \/>\nIt\u2019s hard to explain what I mean by \u2018the same,\u2019 but it feels like <strong>the lightness and quickness of the \u201973 Carrera brought to life with modern technology<\/strong>.<br \/>\nTo put it in my own terms, it\u2019s like enlarging a photo on a computer without changing its aspect ratio.<br \/>\nFor example, you enlarge a photo without distorting its proportions. So, strictly speaking, the sizes are different, so they\u2019re not the same, but the subject in the photo is the same. That\u2019s the feeling I get.<br \/>\nThe \u201973 Carrera is the ancestor of this GT3, and I now clearly understand that the roots of its driving spirit lie there. So, <strong>knowing the \u201973 Carrera makes driving the GT3 feel even more profound.<\/strong> Since then, I\u2019ve been loving winding roads in the GT3 more than ever.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Ride_Comfort_of_the_911_GT3\"><\/span>Ride Comfort of the 911 GT3<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>The GT3\u2019s ride comfort at low speeds is still not great. The suspension is stiff and picks up bumps easily, so rough roads feel quite jarring.<\/p>\n<p>However, on the highway, it\u2019s a completely different story\u2014the ride becomes incredibly smooth, and the overall feeling of grip, rigidity, and stability makes it surprisingly comfortable. It hardly feels like a race-spec car. So my husband says,<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\"><strong>When driving the GT3, it\u2019s important to choose roads where you can maintain a decent speed.<\/strong> The suspension is definitely firm, but since it\u2019s rear-engine, I don\u2019t think the front spring rates\u2014which affect ride comfort\u2014are that stiff. What I think really affects the poor ride at low speeds is the short suspension travel.<br \/>\nRough roads at low speeds are the worst. The car shakes and rattles. But I don\u2019t feel any harsh jolts from stiff springs or bushings. It\u2019s really the <strong>low-speed bumps and undulations that cause the shaking and discomfort.<\/strong> But when you pick up speed, the suspension smooths out those bumps and it\u2019s no longer bothersome. I\u2019d say above about 80 km\/h. So even on regular roads, I prefer ones with lighter traffic and a more flowing rhythm rather than stop-and-go.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Plan_Thoroughly_for_Touring\"><\/span>Plan Thoroughly for Touring<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Last weekend, my husband took the GT3 to drive the Koya Ryujin Skyline, but there were many family cars with tourists around, and he ended up stuck behind a family car going just 35 km\/h the whole time\u2014like a slow-moving train (laughs).<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">Driving the GT3 slowly for a long time is really exhausting. With the Boxster, even at low speeds, you can open the roof and refresh yourself, so it\u2019s more enjoyable. But the GT3\u2019s low-speed ride isn\u2019t comfortable, and the roof doesn\u2019t open, so it was tough to keep going in that situation.<br \/>\nFrom now on, <strong>if I\u2019m driving the GT3, I\u2019ll either go on weekdays<\/strong> or, if it\u2019s a weekend, plan very carefully to only drive on roads where I can really enjoy it. Nearby, I think Okayama\u2019s <strong>Mimasaka Yamanami Kaido<\/strong> would be a great choice.<\/p>\n<p><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-15282\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_0884-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/em><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Neck_Fatigue_Fuel_Economy_at_Low_Speeds\"><\/span>Neck Fatigue &#038; Fuel Economy at Low Speeds<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>When my husband drove to the Koya Ryujin Skyline recently, he covered about 450 km that day but said, \u201c<strong>Driving the GT3 at low speeds for long periods tires my neck.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">Because the car shakes every time it hits bumps and undulations, I guess I\u2019m unconsciously trying to keep my neck straight. My neck got really stiff. I never had that with the Boxster or 964. Well, not many people drive this much in a GT3 in one day anyway.<\/p>\n<p>He joked that if you drive a GT3, you might want to train your neck like a racer (laughs).<\/p>\n<p>By the way, he says the fuel economy has improved recently, possibly because the engine has broken in. For example, on this recent day trip, the consumption was 10.6 L\/100 km, which translates to about <strong>9.4 km<\/strong>\/L\u2014roughly 1 km\/L better than when the car was brand new.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-15305\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/D7C96001-168F-4A14-8F51-F7F960D72D1E-800x533.jpeg\" alt=\"911GT3 Fuel Economy\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Getting_Quite_a_Bit_of_Attention\"><\/span>Getting Quite a Bit of Attention<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>This might be less about the GT3 itself and more about the rare \u201cCrayon\u201d color, but when parking the car, people often approach and say things like, \u201cIs that the Crayon color?\u201d or \u201cIs that a GT3 even without a wing?\u201d Recently,<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">When I parked and got out, someone said, \u2018That\u2019s a Crayon GT3, right? I really want one!\u2019 and we ended up chatting for a while. People really know their stuff and have done a lot of research.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, the 911\u2019s usual vibe is different, and although it looks GT3-like, it doesn\u2019t have the usual wing, so maybe the rarity makes people more likely to approach.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Surprisingly_Rarely_Scrapes_the_Underside\"><\/span>Surprisingly Rarely Scrapes the Underside<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>My husband equipped the GT3 with the <strong>Front Axle Lift System<\/strong>, which raises the front by 30 mm at the push of a button. Thanks to this, <strong>he rarely has to worry about scraping on convenience store curbs or slopes.<\/strong> He said,<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">Before buying, I thought I\u2019d have to drive nervously over every bump and slope, but this option has completely eliminated that worry. It\u2019s totally usable as an everyday car.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-15283\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_0863-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"GT3_When_the_Time_is_Right\"><\/span>GT3, When the Time is Right<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>I\u2019ve probably driven the GT3 less than 50 km myself, but recently when we went to Fuji Speedway, I drove it a little and found that my previous fear had mostly disappeared\u2014I was able to drive it normally.
