So recently, we took it in for its annual inspection. My husband said,  <\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">\u201cI just had the Panamera inspected, then the air-cooled Porsche, and now the Boxster\u2026 feels like it\u2019s inspection after inspection lately.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Still, he brought the Boxster to the Porsche Center. I thought the inspection would take a long time, but apparently, they completed it by the evening after dropping it off in the morning. <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(During that time, he borrowed a Crown Athlete as a loaner and drove it, so maybe he\u2019ll write a test drive review.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-15400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_0704-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>By the way, here\u2019s what the Boxster inspection covered. There were no issues or malfunctions; it was reportedly in excellent health.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"well2\">\u30fbBrake squeal<br \/>\n\u2192 Checked for brake squeal from the front brakes. The front pads still have some life left, but this time they treated it with anti-squeal grease.<br \/>\n\u30fbEngine oil change (7.5L)<br \/>\n\u30fbSealing ring<br \/>\n\u30fbOil filter replacement<br \/>\n\u30fbAir conditioning filter replacement<br \/>\n\u30fbBrake pad remaining thickness F:4.0mm R:7.0mm<br \/>\n\u2192 When the brake pad warning lights up, both pads and rotors need to be replaced simultaneously<br \/>\n\u30fbTire tread remaining F:4.9mm R:5.6mm<\/p>\n<p>At the top of the invoice, it said \u201cChecked for brake squeal,\u201d so I asked my husband, \u201c<strong>Were you worried about the brakes squeaking?<\/strong>\u201d  <\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">\u201cNo, I actually think Porsche brakes sound just right when they squeak a bit. But they asked, \u2018<strong>Is there anything you\u2019re concerned about? Please don\u2019t hesitate to tell us anything!\u2019<\/strong> So I said, \u2018Well, if I had to say something, the brakes have been squeaking a little lately\u2026\u2019 and they took care of it for me, haha.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also mentioned that the <strong>front brake pads have only 4mm left<\/strong>, which definitely won\u2019t last until next year\u2019s inspection, so they\u2019ll need to be replaced soon. He said,  <\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">\u201cI\u2019m participating in the Porsche Track Experience this month with the Boxster, but they said it\u2019s totally fine for that. However, <strong>when it comes to replacement, it\u2019s not just the brake pads this time\u2014they recommend replacing the discs too<\/strong>. The discs have some lip and minor cracks, so they suggested changing them if possible. It\u2019s going to cost quite a bit. Cars really are expensive\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-15402\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_0147-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">Porsche Warranty<\/h3>\n<p>My husband bought the Boxster in November 2015 and last year enrolled in the one-year <a href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/porsche-nsurance\/\">Porsche Approved Warranty<\/a>. This time, he extended the warranty for 2 more years. When I asked why, he said,  <\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">\u201cLast year, I thought I might sell the Boxster if the GT3 arrived, but <strong>now I\u2019ve decided not to part with the Boxster<\/strong>. We have a GT3 too, but it\u2019s a completely different car from the Boxster GTS, so it can\u2019t replace it. The 981 is truly a classic\u2014I\u2019m realizing that again now. Its value will definitely go up in the future <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(whisper)<\/span>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-14729\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/IMG_5157-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve only recently started driving the Boxster properly myself, and personally, I hope he <strong>never sells it\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>By the way, <strong>the 2-year Porsche warranty costs 187,000 yen.<\/strong> This covers repair costs for breakdowns during the warranty period, but <strong>consumables are excluded, so oil changes and filter replacements must be paid for separately<\/strong> each time.<\/p>\n<p>Including the 187,000 yen warranty fee, the total cost for this inspection was about 280,000 yen.<\/p>\n<p>Wow\u2014cars really are expensive. Buying one is costly, but maintaining it costs even more.
