Focusing on Just One 911?<\/h3>\n

The other day, I wrote an article about \u201cHow Owners of Higher-End 911 Models Ultimately Decide a Base 911 Is Enough<\/strong><\/a>,\u201d and it got quite a response. It seems many people feel the same way. Among the comments, one really stood out to me:<\/p>\n

Everyone says, \u201cThe base 911 is the best<\/strong>\u201d (and I say that too, by the way\u2026). I don\u2019t deny that at all. But do car enthusiasts who say that really settle for just one base 911? As you know from those close to you, they don\u2019t (and I don\u2019t either\u2026). Even though they know how good plain white rice tastes and are satisfied with it, car lovers still crave the flavors of a fancy restaurant.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s so true! I told my husband about this comment, and he laughed, saying, \u201cYeah, that\u2019s exactly right~ lol<\/strong>.\u201d In fact, even though he says he prefers the base 911, he also says, \u201cBut the GT3 is great, the Boxster is great, and the air-cooled ones are great too\u2026<\/strong>\u201d \u2014 and in the end, he ends up adding more cars to the collection.<\/p>\n

Among the people we meet on the Royu Driveway, I have never met anyone who said, \u201cI\u2019ve come full circle and decided one base 911 is enough, so I stuck with just that one<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

That said, when I asked owners who have multiple Porsches, \u201cIf you had to narrow it down to just one car, which would you choose?<\/strong>\u201d \u2014 it\u2019s pointless to ask people who don\u2019t need to limit themselves to one car in the first place.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the same with meals:<\/p>\n

Just because plain white rice is the most delicious doesn\u2019t mean your meal should be only white rice.<\/p>\n

Most people want meat, vegetables, fish, and dessert too.<\/p>\n

Porsche: Waste or Investment?<\/h3>\n

If someone said, \u201cI thought the base 911 was enough, so I sold all the other models and stuck with just one 911,\u201d that would be incredibly cool. But as for \u201cThe Porsche 911 base model is enough, but that doesn\u2019t mean I\u2019ll limit myself to just one<\/strong>,\u201d I currently feel like, \u201cI can understand that<\/strong>.\u201d Because,<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve come to realize that each Porsche model has its own unique appeal.<\/span><\/p>\n

Even though the core performance as a car is the same, the ride feel, the type of driving enjoyment, the engine sound, the fun speed range \u2014 everything is completely different. Each has its own charm, and that charm can never be experienced in another model.<\/strong><\/p>\n

So in the end, the conclusion is \u201cI just have to add more cars\u201d (laughs).<\/p>\n

Also, Porsche has many legendary models, so it\u2019s hard to part with those cars (some even increase in value)<\/span>. In fact, with our 981 Boxster GTS (MT), I\u2019ve begged my husband, \u201cDon\u2019t ever sell it!<\/strong> (It took me four years to finally get comfortable driving it\u2026 lol)<\/span>.\u201d<\/p>\n

So I really understand why my husband and others can\u2019t narrow it down to just one car.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Also, if owning multiple cars means it\u2019s not wasteful but rather an investment \u2014 in other words, if \u201cthe positive effects on the family outweigh the purchase price<\/strong>\u201d \u2014 then I think it\u2019s totally fine.<\/p>\n

Owning multiple cars means working even harder to earn more. Gas, tolls, inspections, insurance, maintenance, checkups, parking fees\u2026 doubling or tripling those costs is daunting just to think about.<\/p>\n

To do that, you might have to change how you earn money, maybe even switch jobs or start a business<\/strong>. Either way, you have to put in more effort than before.<\/p>\n

From what I see, my husband buying a new Porsche brings good results for both him and our family<\/strong>. His motivation for work rises, the people he meets change, and I get to live in a world I never imagined when we first met.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve written before about \u201cnot restricting my husband\u2019s freedom\u201d and \u201cnot saying no to Porsche purchases,\u201d but what I realized again while writing this article is that \u201cI don\u2019t say anything because Porsche buying has become an investment, not waste<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the other hand, if he added more Porsches but showed no intention of working harder, just spending more money and making life harder for the family \u2014 that would definitely make me furious. (Even though I have my own freedom, I\u2019d still be upset \u2014 I know it\u2019s selfish\u2026)<\/span><\/p>\n

Chasing Two Hares<\/h3>\n

Choosing just one thing you want is very difficult. Choosing one means giving up the other<\/strong>, which takes a lot of courage. At the same time, trying to have both without compromise isn\u2019t easy either.<\/p>\n

This might be a bit off-topic, but when I gave birth to my eldest daughter six years ago, I couldn\u2019t choose between \u201cchildcare\u201d or \u201cwork.\u201d<\/strong> Both were precious and irreplaceable to me, so I didn\u2019t want to lose either and chose to balance both.<\/p>\n

However, choosing to balance both meant changing how I use my time, how I work, and how I think \u2014 and I struggled for a long time during that process.<\/p>\n

When my child was hospitalized and hooked up to IVs, I blamed myself, thinking, \u201cIs this punishment because I work too much\u2026?<\/strong>\u201d I felt guilty and thought, \u201cThose who chase two hares catch neither<\/strong>,\u201d feeling frustrated that my work was half-done because I couldn\u2019t move freely with a child.<\/p>\n

But looking back, because I chose both, I was able to start this Porsche blog, and now I see my own way to balance both<\/strong>. So now I\u2019m glad I made that choice back then.<\/p>\n
