So my husband and I took that opportunity to go for a drive together.<\/p>\n<p>I wonder how many years it\u2019s been since just the two of us went for a test drive&#8230; Usually, with the kids around, it\u2019s a challenge to handle all their requests like <strong>&#8220;I want to play,&#8221; &#8220;I want juice,&#8221; &#8220;I need to go to the bathroom,&#8221;<\/strong> but with just the two of us adults, everything went so smoothly\u2014it was quite a revelation (laughs).<\/p>\n<p>This time, we test drove the <strong>Cayenne S Coupe that landed in Japan this year.<\/strong> The body color was Quartzite Gray Metallic. When I first saw the Cayenne Coupe at the dealer earlier this year, I thought, &#8220;<strong>Even though it\u2019s an SUV, it looks low and the silhouette is really cool.<\/strong>&#8221; Seeing it again on this day, it was still a sporty and beautiful design.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-18589\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/91A0F066-A305-4F50-B4CA-65A840AA9B21-1280x854.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"854\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Cayenne S Coupe we test drove was loaded with options:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">Two-tone leather interior, air suspension, PASM, rear-axle steering, sports exhaust, 21-inch Cayenne Exclusive Design wheels, matrix LED headlights, auto-dimming mirrors, privacy glass, head-up display, comfort access, soft-close doors, ambient lighting, 18-way electric adaptive sports seats, seat heaters (front and rear), seat ventilation (front), heated steering wheel, smoker\u2019s package, Alcantara roof lining, aluminum interior package, BOSE surround sound system\u2026 etc.<\/p>\n<p>The total cost of these options was a staggering <strong>about 5.3 million yen\u2026!!!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-18590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/502A320B-68BE-443D-9958-0756AFEA1194-1280x854.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"854\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Since the Cayenne S Coupe is priced at 14.85 million yen, adding options pushes it over 20 million yen\u2026 Honestly, I thought, &#8220;<strong>If you\u2019re going to spend that much on options, wouldn\u2019t it be better to just buy a GTS or Turbo instead\u2026?<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, since I\u2019m currently pregnant <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(8 months along)<\/span>, I naturally focus more on ride comfort than usual, so I\u2019d like to start by sharing my impressions from that perspective.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">Cayenne Coupe<\/h3>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">\u2460 Luxurious Ride Comfort<\/h4>\n<p>I\u2019ve had the chance to ride in the current Cayenne several times before, and <strong>I believe it offers the most luxurious ride comfort in Porsche\u2019s lineup.<\/strong> It\u2019s incredibly smooth and refined.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s so smooth that I found myself wondering, &#8220;<strong>Has this road been freshly paved or repaired?<\/strong>&#8221; as we glided along without any bumps. I\u2019ve ridden in several other brands\u2019 SUVs before, but none matched this level of comfort. <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(Well, the Bentley Bentayga was even more luxurious, but that\u2019s a completely different price class\u2026)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>According to my husband, <strong>the ride comfort has improved dramatically compared to the previous generation Cayenne.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-18593\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/IMG_8126-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I think Porsche cars generally offer different ride comfort and comfort levels between the driver\u2019s and passenger\u2019s seats <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(the driver\u2019s side is usually better)<\/span>, but in the Cayenne, the passenger seat was also very comfortable. Especially since I\u2019m a pregnant woman with a large belly, every bump can be painful as my abdomen tenses up, so I\u2019m more sensitive to ride comfort than usual\u2014but even I found it very comfortable and smooth.<\/p>\n<p>My husband also said,<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">As expected, the Cayenne\u2019s ride comfort is amazing. It\u2019s the most comfortable Porsche to ride in.<\/p>\n<p>while driving.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-18594\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/D64493D1-710D-4943-819A-64CB133DB66B-1280x854.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"854\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After driving around town for a while, we headed to the Royu Driveway. Since the Royu Driveway has many tight curves, <strong>the Cayenne felt more prone to body roll in corners compared to other Porsches.<\/strong> However, my husband said,<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">When I drove a Cayenne equipped with PDCC before, it didn\u2019t roll much, so if you\u2019re buying a Cayenne, I\u2019d definitely recommend one with PDCC.<\/p>\n<p>That said, the Cayenne comes with triangular grip handles for off-road driving, which are handy to hold onto and stabilize yourself.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-18595\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/IMG_8131-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Next, I sat in the rear seat. The ride comfort was naturally good, but it felt a bit firmer than the front seats. According to my husband,<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">SUVs often have firmer rear seats because they\u2019re designed to carry a lot of cargo in the back.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding rear seat comfort, the Panamera might feel smoother.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-18597\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/D4EBF190-44C5-4ACE-8A85-01B3189CBC7A-1280x854.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"854\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That said, compared to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/about-benz-gls450\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mercedes-Benz GLS450<\/a> I rode for a few days previously, the rear seat experienced far less shaking, and I didn\u2019t get motion sickness at all on mountain roads.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-18601\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/IMG_8139-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Even in the coupe, <strong>the rear seat space is generous, and the ceiling is high.<\/strong> Sitting deeply in the seat with my head resting on the headrest, there was still about two fists\u2019 worth of space above my head. While it might feel lower compared to the regular Cayenne, I don\u2019t think you\u2019d ever get the impression of it being cramped or low when first getting in the coupe.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-18598\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/40431428-AF9F-4416-A8F9-41AAE7EAE618-1280x854.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"854\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-18599\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/3569CCAC-AE2F-4C1A-A0E7-713874566FC9-1280x854.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"854\" \/><\/p>\n<p>By the way, looking at this, my hair color has faded way too much. I really need to go to the salon&#8230;<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">\u2461 Easy to Drive<\/h4>\n<p>We switched drivers partway through, and <strong>it was just so easy to drive.<\/strong> The start-off was incredibly smooth and pleasant, and the car glided forward effortlessly.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-18600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/IMG_8132-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The accelerator pedal wasn\u2019t too light, offering just the right amount of resistance, and the brake pedal had a solid weight to it, responding with that characteristic Porsche bite when pressed. Every time I stepped on the brake, I found myself saying, &#8220;<strong>This feels so good\u2026!<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Also, the Cayenne S Coupe\u2019s width is <strong>1,983mm, longer than the previous generation Cayenne, but it never felt bulky at all.<\/strong> The high seating position made it easy to drive, and honestly, it even felt smaller than the Panamera.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, the Cayenne boasts Porsche\u2019s high-level performance in &#8220;<strong>accelerating, cornering, and braking<\/strong>,&#8221; so driving it gives you absolute peace of mind. <strong>If you just trust the car, you can drive effortlessly and enjoyably without overthinking.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Compared to this Cayenne, I was reminded once again that the Panamera is truly a sporty car.<\/p>\n<p class=\"well2\">Wow, driving this is so easy and fun\u2014no wonder the Cayenne sells so well! For everyday use by a wife, a Cayenne is absolutely perfect!<\/p>\n<p>My husband said this as we drove for a while, but I think once you get used to how easy and pleasant the Cayenne is to drive, <strong>you\u2019d definitely get worse at driving a GT3 or an air-cooled Porsche<\/strong>\u2026 (laughs)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-18602\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/32E62BC9-6C7C-49EA-BC79-EC52FC24FA72-1280x854.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"854\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">\u2462 Fulfills the Whole Family<\/h4>\n<p>With Porsche sports car models, I feel there are many where &#8220;<strong>the driver has a blast, but the passengers aren\u2019t very comfortable.<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>You often see husbands getting excited enjoying Porsche\u2019s driving, while the wife in the passenger seat gets less thrilled due to uncomfortable ride quality\u2026 Also, with a standard 911, the front seats are comfortable, but the rear seats can be a bit cramped for kids. <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(Though, honestly, not many people use the 911\u2019s rear seats anyway\u2026)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Even if the interior is comfortable, many moms with growing kids find Porsche\u2019s limited trunk space frustrating, thinking &#8220;<strong>Porsches don\u2019t hold much luggage and are hard to use.<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, dads who own minivans or SUVs focused on family comfort often say, &#8220;<strong>The interior is spacious and the family is very comfortable, but the driver doesn\u2019t enjoy driving and gets tired on long trips.<\/strong>&#8221; and &#8220;<strong>The dad is basically just a chauffeur getting the family to their destination.<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In other words, finding and buying a car that &#8220;<strong>meets the needs of everyone riding in it<\/strong>&#8221; is actually quite difficult.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18603\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/IMG_8150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In that context, I think the Cayenne is a &#8220;<strong>car that can satisfy the needs of almost everyone riding in it.<\/strong>&#8221; It offers a refined, smooth ride and spacious interior that keeps the family comfortable. Then, when you press the accelerator to accelerate, the engine sound, acceleration, straight-line stability, and high-speed lane changes make you think, &#8220;<strong>That\u2019s Porsche for you!<\/strong>&#8221; The handling and braking let the driver fully enjoy Porsche\u2019s driving experience.<\/p>\n<p>Plus, with a family of five, you can go on trips, skiing, beach outings\u2014anywhere\u2014and still pack plenty of luggage. I learned for the first time that the off-road settings are finely tuned for different surfaces <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(gravel, mud, sand, rocks)<\/span>, and pressing a button adjusts the front\/rear drive distribution and ride height accordingly.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-18605\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/IMG_8129-2-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From the passenger seat, I didn\u2019t notice much difference, but my husband driving said he could clearly feel the changes. <strong>With features like this, you almost want to try driving on rough roads on purpose\u2026 lol<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Also, although the Cayenne is an SUV suitable for outdoor use, it has the luxury to confidently visit ryokans or upscale hotels.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-18607\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/32D99183-B92B-4CE4-A2B7-6ED9E6492058-1280x854.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"854\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>If I had to point out a downside, it would be the vehicle width (body size).<\/strong> The current model\u2019s width exceeds 1,980mm, which means it barely fits in some home apartment parking spaces, and many people choose not to upgrade from the previous generation for that reason.<\/p>\n<p>While driving, the body size isn\u2019t much of an issue, but in Japan, parking space constraints are definitely a challenge&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Also, unlike the Panamera, where you can adjust many settings via the touchscreen while driving, some functions on the Cayenne we test drove couldn\u2019t be operated while driving.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-18604\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/IMG_8127-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Other than that, it\u2019s truly an all-rounder, and I found the Cayenne to be a very attractive vehicle.
