Replacing My Parents\u2019 Car<\/h3>\n

A little while ago, my parents said, “Maybe we should get a new car\u2026 but what would be good?<\/strong>” By the way, the car they\u2019re currently driving is a Toyota Prius they bought about 10 years ago, and neither of them has any interest in cars at all.<\/p>\n

I asked my dad, “Do you want another Prius? Are you looking only at Toyota?<\/strong>” <\/p>\n

No, it doesn\u2019t have to be a Prius, and I\u2019m not stuck on Toyota. But since we\u2019re getting older, I think it\u2019s important to have proper safety features<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

I see\u2026 Then I asked my mom, “What kind of car do you want?<\/strong>” <\/p>\n

Well\u2026 considering our age, this will probably be the last car we drive, and since we won\u2019t be driving it for that long, I\u2019d like to try a car that looks a bit cool<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

When I suggested, “How about a Volkswagen Golf? The Polo is cool too, and they\u2019re really easy to drive,<\/strong>” my mom said, <\/p>\n

No way\u2026 starting with a foreign car at this age is impossible<\/strong>. The turn signals are on the wrong side, and that scares me.<\/p>\n

Well, that\u2019s true\u2026 Then I asked my dad, “How about Mazda? They have cool designs and drive well. If it\u2019s a clean diesel, fuel costs are low too, so wouldn\u2019t that be good?<\/strong>” <\/p>\n

Mazda\u2026 hmm. If that\u2019s the case, I\u2019d rather stick with Toyota. And diesel means diesel fuel, right? It\u2019s not a big deal, but somehow the image isn\u2019t great\u2026<\/p>\n

I said, “Well\u2026 compared to the current Prius, the driving performance will definitely be better,” <\/p>\n

No, Dad doesn\u2019t care if the driving isn\u2019t that great. Unlike you two, who love cars and want to drive hard, that\u2019s not us at all, haha.<\/p>\n

I see, haha.<\/p>\n

Then I said, “How about the Nissan Note e-POWER<\/strong><\/a> your mother-in-law recently switched to? It feels well made, is easy to drive, stable on the highway, fuel-efficient, and has safety features.” <\/p>\n

But my mom said, <\/p>\n

When I saw her recently, my mother-in-law said it\u2019s \u201creally good,\u201d and it looks cool too. But we\u2019ve always had our car inspections and maintenance done at the Toyota dealer, and they know us well, so switching to a Nissan dealer now feels a bit\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026Then just stick with the Prius\u2026 ( -_- )<\/span><\/p>\n

In the end, since they\u2019re not buying right away, they said they\u2019ll think about it for a while.<\/p>\n

Not Interested in Cars<\/h3>\n

After this conversation, I laughed and told my husband, “My parents are thinking about replacing their car, but this is how the conversation ended,” <\/p>\n

Yeah, if someone isn\u2019t into cars, talking about how it drives<\/strong> won\u2019t resonate. What matters more is ease of driving and fuel economy. Anyway, your father-in-law likes Toyota, so it\u2019ll probably end up being a Toyota, haha.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s true\u2026 Well, since it\u2019s a car for my parents, it\u2019s fine whatever they choose, but given their age, I really want them to have a car with proper safety features and solid driving performance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
