Please have a look if you\u2019re interested.<br \/>\n<div id=\"ez-toc-container\" class=\"ez-toc-v2_0_74 counter-hierarchy ez-toc-counter ez-toc-grey ez-toc-container-direction\">\n<div class=\"ez-toc-title-container\">\n<p class=\"ez-toc-title\" style=\"cursor:inherit\">\u30b3\u30f3\u30c6\u30f3\u30c4<\/p>\n<span class=\"ez-toc-title-toggle\"><\/span><\/div>\n<nav><ul class='ez-toc-list ez-toc-list-level-1 ' ><li class='ez-toc-page-1 ez-toc-heading-level-3'><a class=\"ez-toc-link ez-toc-heading-1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/en\/entry\/981-boxster-sport-chassis\/#Porsche_Boxster_with_Sports_Chassis\" >Porsche Boxster with Sports Chassis<\/a><\/li><li class='ez-toc-page-1 ez-toc-heading-level-3'><a class=\"ez-toc-link ez-toc-heading-2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/en\/entry\/981-boxster-sport-chassis\/#Test_Driving_the_Boxster\" >Test Driving the Boxster<\/a><\/li><li class='ez-toc-page-1 ez-toc-heading-level-3'><a class=\"ez-toc-link ez-toc-heading-3\" href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/en\/entry\/981-boxster-sport-chassis\/#Differences_Between_Boxster_MT_and_PDK\" >Differences Between Boxster MT and PDK?<\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/nav><\/div>\n  <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Porsche_Boxster_with_Sports_Chassis\"><\/span>Porsche Boxster with Sports Chassis<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>One afternoon, when we went to Royu Driveway in the 981 Boxster GTS (MT), we happened to meet a blog reader who was driving a Boxster GTS (981, PDK).  <\/p>\n<p>While chatting, we learned that this reader\u2019s Boxster GTS had the rare Sports Chassis option. <strong>The Sports Chassis means it doesn\u2019t have PASM (adaptive dampers), the suspension is stiffer, and the ride height is lowered by about 1 cm<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-18080\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/92887B0A-B3DD-4805-9A00-9B2B48D61C1A-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/>  <\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a tough, no-nonsense setup for the Boxster, and I remember hesitating a bit about it when I bought mine.  <\/p>\n<p>Moreover, this Boxster GTS had the <strong>Sports Design Package, with the exterior plastic parts painted in piano black, making it look very sharp.<\/strong>  <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-18083\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/1116C9AD-D1E0-46F1-9FB4-8BEDEB41EF40-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/>  <\/p>\n<p>The reader mentioned, \u201c<strong>The Sports Chassis is stiff and the ride isn\u2019t very comfortable<\/strong>,\u201d and since I usually drive the PASM version, he asked me to compare them. I gratefully accepted and took it for a short test on my usual route.  <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Test_Driving_the_Boxster\"><\/span>Test Driving the Boxster<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Right from the start, I didn\u2019t notice any difference from my PASM-equipped Boxster.<\/strong> For reference, my tires are Michelin, while this car had Pirelli. On smooth, well-paved roads, the ride quality is almost identical.  <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-18091\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/B851072A-FDF8-4186-BD62-64C13CE2C9D8-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/>  <\/p>\n<p>As I gradually increased speed and took a curve or two, the difference became clear. <strong>The front end is incredibly sharp and responsive.<\/strong> It felt about 10% more precise, similar to the 718 Boxster GTS I drove a while ago.  <\/p>\n<p>The 718 feels even more stable at the rear, but the front-end feel is quite similar\u2014that was my first impression.  <\/p>\n<p><strong>Body roll is noticeably less than with PASM.<\/strong> It feels even stiffer than PASM\u2019s Sport Plus mode. Compared to a GT3, it still rolls a bit more, but among regular Porsche models, it\u2019s quite minimal.  <\/p>\n<p>For example, when driving the S-curves at Suzuka Circuit in PASM Sport Plus mode, I sometimes wish for less roll. With the Sports Chassis, I think it would handle those corners quite confidently. Naturally, it\u2019s also very enjoyable on winding public roads. <strong>There\u2019s no nervousness in corners, just precise, on-the-rails handling.<\/strong>  <\/p>\n<p>Regarding ride comfort, my impression was that <strong>on rougher surfaces, the vertical jolts feel a bit stronger than PASM Sport Plus mode.<\/strong> However, the aftershocks are minimal, so it wasn\u2019t unpleasant.  <\/p>\n<p>On city roads and at lower speeds, it might feel a bit more unsettled, but compared to a GT3, the low-speed vibrations are much less.  <\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re buying a 981 Boxster, <strong>choose PASM if you prioritize comfort,<\/strong> but <strong>if you mostly drive solo and want sportiness, the Sports Chassis is highly recommended.<\/strong> Personally, if I were to buy another 981 Boxster GTS, I\u2019d pick the Sports Chassis.  <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-18082\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/7B097D90-1F69-4805-A0F5-F193B4978A82-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/>  <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Differences_Between_Boxster_MT_and_PDK\"><\/span>Differences Between Boxster MT and PDK?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Another memorable part of this experience was <strong>getting to drive the Boxster GTS with PDK.<\/strong> My Boxster GTS is a manual (MT), and the last time I drove a PDK was at the dealer\u2019s test drive when I first bought mine.  <\/p>\n<p>The right-hand drive was also a fresh experience, but I was reminded how fun PDK is. <strong>The thrill of upshifting with the paddles is something you can\u2019t get with a manual.<\/strong> Shifting up without lifting off the throttle, with a crisp \u201cpshuhn! pshuhn!\u201d sound, feels fantastic.  <\/p>\n<p>The 3.8L engine in the 911 GTS or the PDK upshifts in the GT3 sound more like a \u201cbaffoon!\u201d but the 3.4L in the 981 GTS produces an exhaust note that\u2019s not too deep, with a higher pitch due to the smaller displacement. It was very pleasant to listen to. <strong>The 981 GTS engine truly is a beautifully voiced masterpiece.<\/strong>  <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-18085\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/28C8EA13-3061-43FA-914D-8FA8A148EF33-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/>  <\/p>\n<p>Overall acceleration felt nearly identical to the manual, though mid-range acceleration in 2nd and 3rd gears seemed a bit quicker in the manual. I suspect this is due to gear ratio differences. That said, <strong>there\u2019s no doubt PDK is faster in outright speed.<\/strong> It\u2019s overwhelmingly so.  <\/p>\n<p>Actually, after returning home, I told my wife, \u201c<strong>Maybe I should get another 981 Boxster GTS PDK before they become impossible to find\u2026<\/strong>\u201d She responded:  <\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">\u201cTwo of the same car, one MT and one PDK? You\u2019re crazy lol\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t think I\u2019ll actually buy another one given space constraints, but that\u2019s how much I loved this engine and PDK combo.  <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-18088\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/E06D9003-1893-4180-91D0-344818E94768-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/>  <\/p>\n<p>Finally, <strong>thank you so much to the owner who kindly let me drive this ultra-rare Sports Chassis Boxster GTS.<\/strong> As he said, the 981 GTS sound is simply the best. Being able to enjoy that with this fantastic Sports Chassis suspension is truly enviable. This engine sound will likely never be matched again due to environmental and noise regulations.
