A Long-Awaited Visit to Mercedes me<\/h3>\n

I recently had an errand to run in Umeda, Osaka, on my own, so I decided to stop by Mercedes me<\/a> at Grand Front Osaka for the first time in a while.<\/strong> I\u2019m usually not very tuned in to seasonal events, so it wasn\u2019t until I came into the city that it hit me: Christmas is just around the corner.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A large, stylish Christmas tree had been set up on the first floor of Grand Front Osaka\u2019s North Building.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

It looked incredibly chic\u2026 Christmas trees these days are so much more than fir trees covered in ornaments\u2014they\u2019re beautifully designed in their own right.<\/p>\n

With the tree right beside Mercedes me, I decided to pop in. The showroom was fully decked out for Christmas, too.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Since I was there, I thought I\u2019d look for presents for the kids\u2014and maybe a new everyday bag for myself (the handle on my old bag had finally snapped after years of use, haha).<\/span><\/p>\n

But the thing that really caught my eye before I even went inside was this SL.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

It was wrapped with a huge gold bow, with a fir tree loaded onto the passenger seat. Do people really get surprised with an SL tied up in a ribbon for Christmas? I\u2019m sure they do\u2026 it\u2019s a big world out there, haha.<\/p>\n

In my case, though, if someone surprised me with one, my first reaction probably wouldn\u2019t be excitement. I\u2019d ask:<\/p>\n

\u201cWait\u2026does this mean you\u2019re covering the car insurance, vehicle tax, parking, and inspection costs<\/strong> too? Because otherwise, there\u2019s no way I could afford to keep an SL\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

(I\u2019m no fun to surprise, am I? Haha.)<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Looking around the store, I was struck by just how extensive the Mercedes-Benz merchandise selection<\/strong> was (including Mercedes me branded items).<\/span> Golf bags, hats, key cases, kids\u2019 cars\u2014the range looked much like what you\u2019d find at a Porsche shop, but there were so many different designs.<\/p>\n

Even the hat selection alone was this extensive.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

If I were buying one for a woman, this cute pink one would be lovely\u2026 They also had adorable backpacks for kids. But my younger daughter, who\u2019s nearly three, is currently obsessed with Minnie Mouse and Hello Kitty, so it was obvious she\u2019d never use this bag if I brought it home. I decided not to buy it.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

There were sale items, too, and tote bags priced in the \u00a52,000 range. Quite a few things were surprisingly affordable.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

I must have been taking so many photos that I started to attract the staff\u2019s attention. They kept coming over to talk to me, so I eventually put my camera away and focused on enjoying the shopping.<\/p>\n

I looked for a bag for myself and found a cute tote, but then I saw the price: \u00a514,000.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s just for everyday use, and the kids will get snack crumbs and sand in it, so it\u2019ll get dirty in no time. Is it really worth spending \u00a514,000?<\/p>\n

While I was debating, a staff member said, \u201cWe have it in other colors, too, so please feel free to ask.<\/strong>\u201d But I couldn\u2019t exactly say, \u201cIt\u2019s not the color I\u2019m worried about\u2014it\u2019s the price (-_-).<\/strong>\u201d So I just smiled, browsed a little longer, and eventually left without buying anything.<\/p>\n

Merchandise from Car Brands<\/h3>\n

I once saw a post on Twitter\u2014or somewhere similar\u2014saying, \u201cJust because you love cars doesn\u2019t mean you should wear merchandise from car brands. It\u2019s tacky.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n

But I think there\u2019s nothing wrong with wearing gear from a car brand because you love cars. What other people think doesn\u2019t matter, as long as you\u2019re not bothering anyone and you like it yourself. I, for one, use my Porsche backpack all the time.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

My husband and I don\u2019t usually exchange Christmas presents\u2014in fact, we\u2019ve never done it.
