Panamera, with Love.<\/h3>\n

If you\u2019ve been reading this blog for a while, you probably know how much I love the Panamera.<\/p>\n

That said, after I learned to drive a manual, there was honestly a time when I found the Panamera a bit underwhelming.<\/strong> It\u2019s just that the Panamera is so perfectly engineered that there\u2019s hardly any room for the driver to intervene<\/strong>\u2026 no matter how you drive it, it just runs smoothly, and I found that a little less exciting.<\/p>\n

But now, after some reflection, I\u2019ve come back around to thinking, I really do love the Panamera.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The manual Boxster is incredibly fun, driving with the top down moves me to tears, the manual GT3 is thrilling with its wolf in sheep\u2019s clothing vibe, and air-cooled Porsches are deep and fascinating.<\/p>\n

Still, these days I find myself quietly appreciating the Panamera the most. (Grateful for the chance to drive so many cars, thank you!)<\/span><\/p>\n

The Charm of the Panamera<\/h3>\n

When I think about why I love the Panamera so much, there are many reasons, but the biggest might be the sense of security<\/strong> it gives me.<\/p>\n

Opening the Panamera\u2019s door, sitting in the seat, gripping the steering wheel\u2014it just feels reassuring. Once you start driving, you think, \u201cAh\u2026 this is it, this feeling\u2026\u201d and you feel happy, thinking “If I leave it to this car, everything will be absolutely fine.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the manual Boxster or GT3 demand your full focus when you\u2019re behind the wheel, and their lack of escape routes for the driver is part of their appeal. But the Panamera is the opposite\u2014it\u2019s comforting and reassuring.<\/p>\n

Why do I feel so safe in the Panamera? It\u2019s a mix of its solid presence, its size, its precise handling\u2014but more than anything, it\u2019s because I\u2019ve had so many experiences with the Panamera over time.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Driving nearly 1,000 km round-trip from home to Mt. Fuji on the highway, driving solo for the first time, attending Porsche\u2019s driving school and experiencing full acceleration and braking, driving on mountain roads in sleet, and even my first time on a race circuit\u2026<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve experienced all these things with the Panamera, and it has opened many first doors for me.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Even after 1,000 km, it doesn\u2019t tire you out; the stability on the highway is impressive. The acceleration that gets you where you want to go before you even realize it. The feeling when you apply full acceleration then full braking in heavy rain, and that giant body stops perfectly.<\/p>\n

When unexpected spring snow turned mountain roads into sleet, my husband driving the Boxster ahead said, “It\u2019s slippery and scary.”<\/strong> But the four-wheel-drive Panamera Turbo didn\u2019t budge, showing outstanding stability without any fear.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Even accelerating on the home straight at Fuji Speedway, I felt that bottomless power that says, \u201cI can still go further.\u201d<\/p>\n

With every experience like this, my trust in the Panamera\u2019s performance and driving grew immensely.<\/strong><\/p>\n

And I realized that this \u201csense of security\u201d is crucial to truly enjoying driving.<\/strong> When you know how your car behaves in every situation, and you have that \u201cthis far, it\u2019s absolutely safe\u201d feeling, you can fully enjoy driving without worry.<\/p>\n

If you can\u2019t trust your car 100%, you can never enjoy driving 100%. Because I trust the Panamera completely, driving it is fun.<\/strong> That\u2019s something I\u2019ve come to realize again and again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Panamera and My Wife<\/h3>\n

The title of this article says, \u201cIf you want your wife to love cars, buy a Porsche Panamera.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Some might say, \u201cWhy not a 911, Cayman, or Boxster? Those models better capture the true essence of Porsche as a sports car.\u201d<\/p>\n

That might be true, but if your wife isn\u2019t interested in cars, and you want her to think, “Cars are great,”<\/strong> I highly recommend the Panamera.<\/p>\n

Because the Panamera offers an incredibly comfortable ride.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The 911, Boxster, and Cayman don\u2019t have bad ride quality, but their suspension is firm, and they tend to pick up road imperfections. Of course, their performance, handling, braking, acceleration, and stability as sports cars are superb, but none of that really registers with someone who isn\u2019t into cars.<\/strong><\/p>\n

What\u2019s easiest to understand is the ride comfort. The Panamera\u2019s ride, while firmer than a Mercedes-Benz or Lexus, is still very smooth.<\/p>\n

When I first rode in a Panamera, I was impressed by its comfort, and when I talk to readers and Panamera owners, they often say things like:<\/p>\n

\u201cMy wife is amazed by how comfortable the Panamera is.\u201d \u201cShe says it\u2019s the most comfortable car she\u2019s ever ridden in.\u201d<\/p>\n

Making a good first impression with a Porsche by saying, “Porsche is great,”<\/strong> can lead to family drives and hot spring trips together, plus it\u2019s practical for shopping with plenty of cargo space and looks great\u2026<\/p>\n

When your wife\u2019s impression of Porsche is positive, she\u2019ll likely listen more to car talk and gradually become a car enthusiast herself.<\/p>\n

I Want to Keep Driving the Panamera Forever<\/h3>\n

Looking back, it was the Panamera that sparked my interest in Porsche, even though I wasn\u2019t a car person. I went to the dealer and reluctantly took a test drive in a Panamera, and I was blown away, thinking, “What on earth is this car?!”<\/strong><\/p>\n

From there, I wanted to be able to buy a Panamera myself, started this blog, learned to drive a manual, and here I am today.<\/p>\n

It all started with the Panamera.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Panamera is the first Porsche I ever drove, the one I\u2019ve owned the longest, my comrade through many first experiences, and my closest partner.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s probably why just sitting in the seat feels so reassuring.<\/p>\n

Today, I took what\u2019s likely my last mid-distance drive of the year in the Panamera (about 150 km round-trip on the highway)<\/span>, and while driving, I thought:<\/p>\n

Ah, there\u2019s talk about switching to a Taycan or Continental GT, but next year and the year after, I want to keep driving this Panamera…<\/p>\n

That said, I\u2019m easily influenced, so the moment I test drive a Taycan or Continental GT, I\u2019ll probably be begging my husband, “Wow, this is amazing!
