Curious, I opened it to find this black box inside.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-17915\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/IMG_7710-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The box was quite heavy, and when I opened it, there was a card labeled &#8220;<strong>Taycan<\/strong>&#8221; along with a Taycan model car.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-17917\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/IMG_7711-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This box is said to have been sent to owners who reserved the Taycan during the <strong>&#8220;Taycan reservation program,&#8221; Porsche\u2019s first EV sports car<\/strong>. Oh right, our family had reserved a Taycan at the end of last year. Since then, with my third pregnancy confirmed and the Porsche factory closure due to the coronavirus affecting the production schedule of the 992 Cabriolet I ordered, I had almost forgotten about the Taycan amidst all the chaos&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Thinking about that, I looked at the Taycan model car and felt its shape somewhat resembled the Panamera. I wondered, &#8220;<strong>Could it be built on the same platform as the Panamera?<\/strong>&#8221; But after comparing them, it was clear they were definitely different. <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(Of course!)<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_17953\" style=\"width: 1290px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17953\" class=\"wp-image-17953 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/IMG_1569-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-17953\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">Left: Taycan, Right: Panamera<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<p>These kinds of model cars are probably made with quite accurate scale, so comparing them with the Panamera helps to better imagine the Taycan\u2019s design and size. First, <strong>the body size of the Taycan is smaller and lower than the Panamera.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_17948\" style=\"width: 1290px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17948\" class=\"wp-image-17948 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/IMG_1565-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-17948\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">Top: Taycan, Bottom: Panamera<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<p>I see&#8230; looking at it this way, the Taycan is much sleeker than the Panamera. Looking at the rear, the design is quite different from the Panamera\u2019s. The center of gravity is also lower than the Panamera\u2019s.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_17949\" style=\"width: 1290px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17949\" class=\"wp-image-17949 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/IMG_1567-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-17949\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">Left: Panamera, Right: Taycan<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Taycan\u2019s rear <strong>does not have an engine, so it doesn\u2019t need an exhaust system or tailpipes, and instead features a large diffuser designed to use air resistance<\/strong>. Seeing the actual Taycan without mufflers can feel strange at first.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-16204\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/IMG_0020-1280x854.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"854\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From the side, the rear window looks much smaller than the Panamera\u2019s. At the Taycan preview event, I sat in the back and felt a bit more enclosed compared to the Panamera, but the roof was actually higher than it looked from outside. My husband, who is 178 cm tall, said it was &#8220;<strong>completely fine<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_17950\" style=\"width: 1290px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17950\" class=\"wp-image-17950 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/IMG_1566-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-17950\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">Top: Taycan, Bottom: Panamera<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<p>Most electric vehicles have motors mounted under the vehicle floor, which can make the rear seats shallow, but <strong>the Taycan cleverly lowers the floor position to allow passengers to stretch their legs, making the rear seats comfortable<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_17955\" style=\"width: 1290px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17955\" class=\"wp-image-17955 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/IMG_1570-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-17955\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">Left: Taycan, Right: Panamera<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<p>Comparing it with the Panamera like this, <strong>the Taycan has a lower center of gravity, a sleeker look, and a more sports car-like design<\/strong>. It really looked cooler than I had imagined when I saw it in person. So, I\u2019ve proudly added it to our family\u2019s lineup of miniatures and model cars.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-17936\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/IMG_7726D-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Surrounded by Porsches. If I get any more, I won\u2019t have space to put them&#8230; (laughs)<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">Is the Taycan\u2019s Domestic Price About to Be Announced?<\/h3>\n<p>On the other hand, when I opened what looked like a message card, it contained the domestic sales price for the Taycan. Since the official announcement hasn\u2019t been made yet, I won\u2019t disclose the amount, but it seems the price for Japan has finally been decided.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-17930\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/IMG_7717-2-1280x960.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>By the way, the Taycan\u2019s price is somewhere between the Panamera and the Cayenne. My impression was, &#8220;Wow, it\u2019s quite expensive~.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The message card says, &#8220;<strong>We will inform you of the official purchase start date as soon as preparations are complete<\/strong>,&#8221; but I wonder when production will actually begin&#8230; Even if Porsche\u2019s factory restarts production, dealers\u2014likely hit hard by COVID-19\u2014will need to invest in charging infrastructure and other preparations to sell the Taycan, so it\u2019s going to be challenging&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, I look forward to Porsche\u2019s official announcement.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"About the Taycan The other day, a package arrived from Porsche Japan.
