The car following the Panamera was decided to be the base new 911 (992 model)<\/a>, and then the Cabriolet<\/a>. Since my husband wrote an article about it, this time I\u2019d like to introduce the options we chose.(Today is April Fools\u2019 Day, but there\u2019s no joke here, lol)<\/span><\/p>\n

New 911 (992) Cabriolet<\/h3>\n

The concept this time was a \u201cmature and comfortable 911 Cabriolet\u201d<\/strong>.(Since the 911 logo black doesn\u2019t show properly on the Japanese config, we used the European configurator)<\/span><\/p>\n

Standard Interior Black\/Mojave Beige, Partial Leather Seats<\/h4>\n

While I fully understand that full leather with leather dashboard is nicer, this time we went with the standard interior<\/strong> and chose beige so it looks beautiful even with the top down, fitting the open-top style.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Sports Seats<\/h4>\n

We chose the regular sports seats.<\/strong> Sports Seats Plus wrap around the shoulders more, which is great for sporty driving but can cause shoulder stiffness over long periods. Since we want to ride relaxed this time, we didn\u2019t select those.<\/p>\n

Also, with Sports Seats Plus, the seat backs are silver by default instead of matching the seat color.<\/strong> You can add wood trim there and other customizations, but considering the overall balance, we preferred the seat backs to match the seat color, so we went with the standard seats.<\/p>\n

Seat Ventilation (Front)<\/h4>\n

A must-have for a convertible.<\/strong> It\u2019s invaluable during hot summers. I regretted not having it on the Boxster.<\/p>\n

Sports Design Package<\/h4>\n

This was definitely one of the options we wanted.<\/strong> The Cabriolet\u2019s rear looks quite wide, which is attractive, but we also wanted a bit more sleekness.<\/p>\n

So, we chose the Sports Design Package that raises the rear license plate position.<\/strong> This visually reduces the rear\u2019s thickness a bit, making it look sportier.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The front also features a hawk-wing shaped aero design, giving it a slightly aggressive face.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Also, looking at the recently released 992 Turbo S design and spy shots of upcoming GT3 and GTS models, the rear license plate is positioned higher, following the trend of this Sports Design Package<\/strong>, so we predict this design will become mainstream for future 992 sports models.<\/p>\n

Wanting to get a little ahead with this new design was also part of our choice.<\/p>\n

Sports Design Side Skirts<\/h4>\n

This was one of the options I regretted not adding when buying the Boxster and GT3. Third time\u2019s the charm, so we included it this time. Since the side skirts are body-colored, the car looks visually lower from the side, which is great.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Sport Chrono Package<\/h4>\n

This was obviously a must-have. Honestly, I wish it were standard equipment, lol.<\/p>\n

19-inch \/ 20-inch Carrera Wheels<\/h4>\n

We really struggled with this choice.<\/p>\n

On the base Carrera, the brake disc size is 330mm, a bit smaller than the 350mm on the S. With 20-inch or 21-inch optional wheels, the brake discs look relatively small, and wheels with fewer spokes look sparse.<\/strong><\/p>\n

So, if you want 20-inch or 21-inch wheels on the base model, ideally you\u2019d want the larger PCCB discs for balance, but that gets very expensive.<\/p>\n

Also, since we prioritized ride comfort this time, we deliberately chose the standard 19-inch \/ 20-inch wheels.<\/strong> These standard wheels aren\u2019t bad looking, and a while ago they would have been considered large option wheels, so they don\u2019t look cheap visually, which helped us decide.<\/p>\n

\"Porsche<\/p>\n

LED Headlights Including PDLS Plus<\/h4>\n

We previously chose the higher LED matrix headlights on the Panamera Turbo, but since we rarely used them for our needs, we selected the one with PDLS Plus, one step down.<\/strong><\/p>\n

PDLS Plus adjusts the light angle with the steering, which is one of my favorite features.<\/p>\n

Auto-Dimming Mirrors<\/h4>\n

I\u2019m indifferent about auto-dimming, but it comes with automatic wipers, so we chose it.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Adaptive Cruise Control<\/h4>\n

At first, I thought it wasn\u2019t necessary for the 911, but since our concept is comfort-focused, we chose it.<\/strong> It\u2019s very convenient for long highway drives.<\/p>\n

Lane Change Assist<\/h4>\n

The dealer recommended it, saying \u201cIt\u2019s better to have it for a convertible.\u201d<\/strong> Indeed, with the Boxster, the blind spot diagonally behind is hopelessly invisible, so for safety we decided to include it.<\/p>\n

Porsche Entry & Drive System<\/h4>\n

Chosen at my wife\u2019s strong request.<\/strong> I\u2019m not too bothered, but with kids and lots of luggage, it\u2019s helpful not to have to take the key out every time.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Multifunction GT Sports Steering Wheel<\/h4>\n

The name doesn\u2019t clearly say what it is, but basically it\u2019s a GT sports steering wheel (smaller diameter sports wheel) with steering wheel heating.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I remember how useful it was on the AMG S63 Coupe, and thought it would be even more appreciated in a convertible during winter, so we chose it.<\/p>\n

Storage Package<\/h4>\n

This option adds a small net storage on the passenger side. It\u2019s free.<\/p>\n

Porsche Crest Embossed Headrests<\/h4>\n

The Porsche crest is embossed on the seat headrests. Since it\u2019s a convertible, I thought it would look nice from the outside, so we chose it.<\/p>\n

Dark Paldao Interior Package<\/h4>\n

This is a fairly expensive option, but I really like this wood trim because it looks very stylish and doesn\u2019t feel old-fashioned like you might expect from \u201cwood.\u201d<\/strong> Choosing this changes the wood panels and trims from black to silver, brightening the interior dramatically.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

911 Logo in High Gloss Black Finish<\/h4>\n

Normally, the rear grade emblem is silver \u201c911 Carrera,\u201d but we changed it to just \u201c911\u201d and made it a high gloss black emblem.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Aventurine Green, silver \u201c911\u201d felt a bit too conspicuous, so we chose black.<\/p>\n

I also considered adding a white circle accent on the tachometer, but since there\u2019s no white elsewhere on the exterior or interior, I decided against it for balance.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Other Details on the 911 Cabriolet<\/h3>\n

And this time we didn\u2019t choose the sports exhaust, which we usually always add.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The reasons are: first, our concept is comfort-oriented<\/strong>; second, we have the 981 Boxster GTS and GT3 Touring for enjoying sound, so we don\u2019t need to seek that in this car<\/strong>; and third, the normal exhaust\u2019s square muffler tips look cool and turbo-like, and suit the Sports Design Package rear bumper well.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Also, if we want it later, it can be added aftermarket(currently no aftermarket option is available, but I expect it will come eventually)<\/span>, so we decided to hold off for now.<\/p>\n
