Porsche 911 GT3, 1-Year Inspection<\/h3>\n

The other day, my husband took the 911 GT3 in for its dealer 1-year inspection.<\/strong> Although the GT3 was delivered last May, since he had driven it on the track at the end of the year and had an oil change done, he decided to bring it in a little earlier than scheduled.<\/p>\n

While the GT3 was in for inspection, we were kindly lent a 718 Cayman as a loaner,<\/strong> so I was able to go shopping, and my husband got to drive a bit on the Royu Driveway and other places. I plan to write an article about his impressions of that test drive soon.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Regarding the GT3\u2019s 1-year inspection, we dropped it off at the dealer in the morning and it was completed by evening. Apparently, there were no issues at all. That\u2019s a relief.<\/p>\n

By the way, the mileage since delivery is 7,630 km.<\/strong> At first, my husband used the GT3 for commuting, but since the Note e-POWER NISMO S<\/a> arrived recently, he\u2019s hardly used the GT3 for commuting anymore.<\/p>\n

As for touring in the GT3, he did the break-in drive all the way to Shikoku, then made round trips to Fuji Speedway, drove at Suzuka Circuit, and went on casual tours to Wakayama, Awaji, Sanda, and other places. That\u2019s how it ended up with this amount of mileage in about a year.<\/p>\n

GT3 1-Year Inspection Costs<\/h3>\n

So, here are the costs and details of this inspection:<\/p>\n

\n\u30fbOil filter replacement
\n\u30fbFront wiper blades in good condition, so not replaced
\n\u30fbBrake pad remaining thickness: Front 12.0mm, Rear 12.0mm
\n\u30fbTire tread remaining: Front 5.0mm, Rear 5.0mm
\n\u30fbTotal (labor + parts): \u00a587,683<\/p>\n

When I think of a GT3 inspection, I had imagined it might cost several hundred thousand yen at once, but if there are no problems, it seems to be around this amount. (By the way, GT2, GT3, GT4 models are apparently not included in the prepaid fixed-price Porsche Scheduled Maintenance program.)<\/span><\/p>\n

What surprised my husband most during this inspection was that the PCCB (Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes)<\/span> brake pads had barely worn at all. He said:<\/p>\n

PCCB doesn\u2019t wear down as much as people say,<\/strong> and this time we got actual data to prove it. After about 7,600 km, the dealer\u2019s technician said the pads were almost like new, the discs were clean, and everything was perfectly fine.<\/strong>
\nThis GT3 has been driven on circuits and he\u2019s been using the brakes firmly when spiritedly driving winding roads, so I think that\u2019s amazing.
\nI also added a note later to my article about PCCB<\/a>, where someone who mainly used a 991.1 GT3RS on circuits for 25,000 km had PCCB brakes that looked surprisingly clean and barely worn. It seems that the idea that PCCB lacks durability is mistaken, and it might depend on driving style and the characteristics of the circuit course.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Regarding PCCB maintenance, I had often seen negative information online, but in reality, it\u2019s not always that bad (sometimes).<\/span> You really don\u2019t know until you experience it yourself.<\/p>\n

Now that I\u2019ve somewhat opened my heart to the Boxster, maybe I can enjoy driving the GT3 more than before.
