The 718 Spyder RS is mid-engined, while the 911 has its engine at the rear. Both use a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six, yet their characters are worlds apart. The mid-engined 718 Spyder RS feels especially light at the nose, with razor-sharp turn-in as one of its defining traits. The rear-engined 911, by contrast, has its own distinctive traction, with that unmistakable sensation of being \u201cpushed\u201d forward as you accelerate out of a corner. It\u2019s a reminder of just how much an engine\u2019s location can transform the way a car drives, even when the engine itself is the same.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-44145\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/DSC06208-1280x853.jpeg\" alt=\"718 Spyder RS\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The sound will likely feel very different, too. In the 718 Spyder RS, the intake sits just behind the driver, close to your ears, so the high-revving naturally aspirated soundtrack comes straight at you. That\u2019s a special part of the 718 Spyder RS experience, amplifying the thrill of driving with the roof down. How much can the open-air experience make up for the sound damped by the OPF? It\u2019s thought to stand for \u201cSport Cabriolet,\u201d but could Porsche also be tipping its hat to the historic SC?<\/p>\n<p>Porsche often gives limited-edition models historically significant production numbers. The 911 S\/T was limited to 1,963 examples to mark the 911\u2019s 60th anniversary. The 991 Speedster was built in 1,948 examples, referencing the year the Porsche 356 Roadster was born.
