My guess is that the car will be closer to Theory 2, sharing the 992.2 GT3\u2019s specifications. Rather than specially tuning the S\/T engine for this model, it would make more sense for Porsche to use the current GT3\u2019s powertrain. Either way, the chance to enjoy a high-revving 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six in an open-top car is reason enough for this model to exist.<\/p>\n<p>Most sources say the transmission will be a <strong>six-speed manual only<\/strong>. However, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesupercarblog.com\/exclusive-porsche-911-gt3-sport-cabriolet-to-debut-in-march\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Supercar Blog\u2019s initial report<\/a> also mentioned a choice of a six-speed manual or seven-speed PDK. We\u2019ll have to wait for the official reveal to find out. My 718 Spyder RS weighs about 1,410 kg, so the new car would be a little heavier. As I\u2019ve written in an earlier blog post, I think the car will be called the <strong>Sport Cabriolet (S\/C)<\/strong>\u2014not the \u201cGT3 Cabriolet,\u201d but the \u201cGT3 Sport Cabriolet.\u201d Perhaps Porsche is keeping the name under wraps to make this new naming a surprise. I also expect its specifications to match the 992.2 GT3, and given emissions regulations, I\u2019m more inclined to believe it will use the standard GT3 engine than the S\/T engine.<\/p>\n<p>I enjoy the combination of open-top motoring and a high-revving naturally aspirated engine every day in my 718 Spyder RS. There\u2019s nothing quite like opening up a 4.0-liter flat-six that revs to 9,000 rpm and taking in the sound with the wind in your hair.
