It\u2019s more than earned its place as our family\u2019s everyday car. My wife\u2019s Taycan 4S Cross Turismo has also passed 35,000 km, so living with two EVs has become part of our daily routine.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-34559\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_1332-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"Car interior, driver and passenger seats, steering wheel, dashboard, display, parking lot, TESLA, MODEL 3\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A test drive is what convinced me to buy one. <strong>All you have to do is get in, buckle up, and press the brake\u2014the car is ready to go.<\/strong> There\u2019s no gear selector. Tesla\u2019s approach is simple: choosing a gear is one more task drivers shouldn\u2019t have to do themselves. Even the sun visor feels different. Instead of tugging it loose from a stiff hinge like in a conventional car, you can move it smoothly thanks to its magnetic mount. Every detail reflects <strong>a philosophy of rethinking the car from the ground up<\/strong>. Never before had a conventional car felt so outdated to me.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_Drive_That_Impresses_Even_a_Porsche_Owner\"><\/span>A Drive That Impresses Even a Porsche Owner<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>As someone who drives Porsches, I can say this with confidence:<\/p>\n<p>The Tesla is genuinely fun to drive. Its power and acceleration are more than ample, but <strong>the Model 3\u2019s real strength is the precision of its handling<\/strong>. It feels neutral, with little tendency to understeer or oversteer. The steering angle and the car\u2019s path through a corner line up with remarkable precision. There\u2019s none of the disconnect between steering input and the car\u2019s actual trajectory that I\u2019ve often felt in Japanese cars. I suspect that\u2019s because the car was designed with AI-driven autonomy in mind. Any mismatch between steering angle and trajectory would be a problem for an AI driver, too. That design philosophy also makes the car a pleasure for humans to drive.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-32956\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/DSC05458-1280x853.jpeg\" alt=\"Driving a Tesla Model 3, on a tree-lined road through the countryside, TESLA, Model 3\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Take it on a winding road, and its abilities become even clearer. <strong>On a climb with a series of tight mountain corners, I think the Model 3 could leave many sports cars struggling to keep up.<\/strong> And that\u2019s the Long Range\u2014the mid-range version I own. The Performance model would be even more formidable. The body feels solid, and although its turning circle is a drawback, the Model 3 delivers a level of driving enjoyment beyond what you\u2019d expect from a sports sedan.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_Mobile_Office%E2%80%94and_a_Movie_Theater\"><\/span>A Mobile Office\u2014and a Movie Theater<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The cabin\u2019s quietness deserves special mention.<\/p>\n<p>The Model 3 has double-glazed windows, and almost no sound escapes when you\u2019re talking on the phone inside. In many Japanese cars, it\u2019s not unusual for conversations to be clearly audible outside, but that\u2019s not something I worry about in the Tesla. <strong>The sound from its 17 speakers is outstanding<\/strong>, putting the audio system among the best out there. Whether I\u2019m playing music a little louder or watching Netflix, I don\u2019t have to worry about disturbing anyone outside.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_36111-2\" style=\"width: 1034px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-36111-2\" class=\"wp-image-36111 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Ggm2maxbsAAcPmC.jpg\" alt=\"Karaoke inside a Tesla, microphone, hand, display, steering wheel, night, TESLA, MODEL 3, MODEL Y\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-36111-2\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Buy a microphone for your Tesla, and the cabin can even become a full-on karaoke booth with proper echo effects.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Camp Mode is another big plus. Given the way I work, my Tesla can be an office anywhere. I park in a paid lot, set up a table, turn on the climate control, and put on some background music. <strong>That\u2019s all it takes to create a caf\u00e9-like space where I can focus, wherever I am.<\/strong> For an EV that serves as an everyday car, it\u2019s hard to imagine a more practical perk.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-34562\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_1388-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"Inside a Tesla Model 3, car interior, laptop, coffee, parking lot, TESLA, Model 3\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Over-the-Air_Updates_Teslas_Biggest_Advantage\"><\/span>Over-the-Air Updates: Tesla\u2019s Biggest Advantage<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Without a doubt, software updates are one of Tesla\u2019s greatest strengths.<\/p>\n<p>Updates arrive almost every month, and rarely do I wait longer than six to eight weeks. I\u2019ve received dozens since buying the car, and it\u2019s a world apart from the Model 3 I first drove home. The display now recognizes far more of the cars and pedestrians around me. Updates have added Amazon Music, automatically reduced climate-control fan noise during phone calls, upgraded the existing lights to adaptive headlights, enabled passenger-seat controls on the display, and increased the number of cameras recording in Sentry Mode. And that\u2019s just a sampling of the many new features.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What other car keeps gaining features for free, long after you buy it?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As Tesla Japan President Tomohiko Hashimoto has said, Tesla is aiming to make <strong>FSD (Full Self-Driving) available in Japan in 2026<\/strong>. That, too, is expected to arrive via a software update. What about other EVs? They may occasionally receive bug fixes, but it\u2019s rare to see routine feature updates\u2014or groundbreaking capabilities like FSD\u2014added after purchase. I can\u2019t see why I\u2019d choose an EV with so little potential to improve.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-34552\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/DSC03289-1280x853.jpeg\" alt=\"Tesla Model 3 Highland driving on a public road, trees, TESLA, Model 3, Highland\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Of course, I often hear people say, <strong>\u201cI don\u2019t like Tesla\u2019s design.\u201d<\/strong> I understand where they\u2019re coming from.<br \/>\nBut the Tesla isn\u2019t a car you buy for its looks. It\u2019s like the Apple Watch: how many people choose one purely for its beauty as a fashion accessory? <strong>People use it because it\u2019s incredibly convenient\u2014and the same goes for Tesla.<\/strong> If you want a car that turns heads, you can always buy one as a passion project.<\/p>\n<p>After 30,000 km, here\u2019s my honest verdict: I\u2019d give the Tesla Model 3 a 12 out of 10, even on a 10-point scale. It\u2019s unquestionably one of the best cars I\u2019ve ever owned. Whether or not you plan on buying one, I\u2019d encourage you to take it for a test drive. You\u2019ll quickly realize it\u2019s a different kind of car from Japanese and German models.
