Even when you genuinely believe a car is exceptional, that doesn\u2019t mean the market will assign it the value you think it deserves. Factors beyond the car itself\u2014such as how rare it is and how popular it is with buyers\u2014can have a huge effect on its price.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, that\u2019s only to be expected.<\/p>\n<div id=\"ez-toc-container\" class=\"ez-toc-v2_0_74 counter-hierarchy ez-toc-counter ez-toc-grey ez-toc-container-direction\">\n<div class=\"ez-toc-title-container\">\n<p class=\"ez-toc-title\" style=\"cursor:inherit\">\u30b3\u30f3\u30c6\u30f3\u30c4<\/p>\n<span class=\"ez-toc-title-toggle\"><\/span><\/div>\n<nav><ul class='ez-toc-list ez-toc-list-level-1 ' ><li class='ez-toc-page-1 ez-toc-heading-level-3'><a class=\"ez-toc-link ez-toc-heading-1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/en\/entry\/taycan_shidadori\/#Tempted_by_the_Taycans_E-Shift\" >Tempted by the Taycan\u2019s E-Shift<\/a><\/li><li class='ez-toc-page-1 ez-toc-heading-level-3'><a class=\"ez-toc-link ez-toc-heading-2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/en\/entry\/taycan_shidadori\/#Why_Im_Keeping_My_Current_Taycan\" >Why I\u2019m Keeping My Current Taycan<\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/nav><\/div>\n\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Tempted_by_the_Taycans_E-Shift\"><\/span>Tempted by the Taycan\u2019s E-Shift<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>I\u2019d recently been thinking about trading in my Taycan, and had been playing around with different configurations in the online configurator.<\/p>\n<p>If I\u2019m being honest, there\u2019s absolutely no need to replace my current Taycan. Actually, even without being honest with myself, I don\u2019t need to trade it in. But the next Taycan model makes the <strong>E-Shift<\/strong> available as an option, and that got me a little carried away (laughs).<\/p>\n<p>E-Shift is a clever feature that uses software to simulate the shifting action of Porsche\u2019s eight-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. You can change gears using the steering-wheel paddles, giving you a shifting sensation more like that of a gasoline-powered car.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_45398-2\" style=\"width: 1290px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-45398-2\" class=\"size-large wp-image-45398\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/\u30b9\u30af\u30ea\u30fc\u30f3\u30b7\u30e7\u30c3\u30c8-2026-09-08-10.17.15-1280x700.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"700\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-45398-2\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Image source: New Taycan | Porsche Japan<\/p><\/div>\n<p>My current car is a 2023 Taycan 4S Cross Turismo, which I retrofitted with the <strong>Sport Electric Sound<\/strong> option. It makes a fantastic, futuristic sound\u2014like a spaceship\u2014so I couldn\u2019t help wondering what it would be like paired with E-Shift. I was genuinely excited to find out.<\/p>\n<p>That was until a few days ago.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_Im_Keeping_My_Current_Taycan\"><\/span>Why I\u2019m Keeping My Current Taycan<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>\u201cGold wheels could look pretty cool this time.\u201d<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u201cI love this Purple Sky Metallic paint.\u201d<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u201cAnd I\u2019d like to add Active Ride, like the one on my husband\u2019s Turbo GT.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The more I let my imagination run wild, the more the price climbed. Well, no surprise there.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-45395\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/HQTmEOibQAAkfpy-1280x720.jpeg\" alt=\"Taycan wheels\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I still have a loan balance on my current Taycan, so trading it in would definitely mean paying extra out of pocket. I asked the dealer for a trade-in appraisal, wondering just how much that would be. I wasn\u2019t expecting a particularly generous offer, but the figure brought home the reality more than I\u2019d anticipated. All I could think was, \u201cOh\u2026 right\u2026 I see\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On a whim, I posted about it on X (formerly Twitter). The post got quite a response (I wonder if a lot of people feel the same way), and I heard from plenty of followers.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"ja\">I\u2019d been thinking about trading in my Taycan, and after checking used-car prices on Carsensor, I asked the dealer for a trade-in appraisal. The number was so\u2026 underwhelming that it brought me back down to earth. I\u2019ve decided to take good care of this Taycan and keep driving it after all. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/f5noN0rnBx\">pic.twitter.com\/f5noN0rnBx<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Mina-\u30dd\u30eb\u30b7\u30a7\u304c\u308f\u304c\u5bb6\u306b\u3084\u3063\u3066\u304d\u305f (@Mina_Panamera) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Mina_Panamera\/status\/2096756371987612108?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 7, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>A lot of people chimed in with comments like, <strong>\u201cThe Taycan is such a great car!\u201d<\/strong> and <strong>\u201cIt\u2019d be a shame to sell it\u2014keep driving it!\u201d<\/strong> They made me stop and think: \u201cYou know what? They\u2019re right. I\u2019ll keep it.\u201d (laughs)<\/p>\n<p>The Taycan really is an incredible car. Around us, there are so many owners who say, <strong>\u201cI definitely want another Taycan next time!\u201d<\/strong> after living with one. (I imagine the same may be true of the Macan Electric.) Owner satisfaction is sky-high.<\/p>\n<p>But that doesn\u2019t necessarily mean strong resale value.<\/p>\n<p>Since I love this car so much\u2014and it\u2019s already my trusted companion with more than 43,000 km (about 26,700 miles) on the clock\u2014keeping it for the foreseeable future is probably the right choice for me.<\/p>\n<p>Many people around me, including my husband, seem to buy cars at a dizzying pace. I\u2019d started thinking, \u201cMaybe I should, too!\u201d But when I stopped and thought it through, I realized I\u2019d rather take good care of the car I already have.<\/p>\n<p>By the way, my husband had reassuringly told me, <strong>\u201cI\u2019ll ask them to do a little better on the trade-in offer.\u201d<\/strong> But it turns out he\u2019d also posted on X that he wanted a Taycan GTS.
