But the new Taycan model now offers an option for the <strong>E-Shift<\/strong>, which got my heart racing a bit (lol).<\/p>\n<p>This E-Shift is a clever software-controlled feature that mimics the shifting mechanism of Porsche\u2019s 8-speed PDK (dual-clutch transmission). You can switch gears using the steering wheel paddles, experiencing shift changes much like those in a gasoline-powered sports car.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_45398\" style=\"width: 1290px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-45398\" class=\"size-large wp-image-45398\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/\u30b9\u30af\u30ea\u30fc\u30f3\u30b7\u30e7\u30c3\u30c8-2026-09-08-10.17.15-1280x700.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"700\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-45398\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Image Source: New Taycan | Porsche Japan<\/p><\/div>\n<p>My current car, a 2023 Taycan 4S Cross Turismo, is equipped with the <strong>Sports Electric Sound<\/strong> option aftermarketed \u2014 it sounds futuristic, almost like a spaceship, which I love. So I was super excited imagining how it would feel combined with the E-Shift.<\/p>\n<p>That was until a few days ago.  <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Sticking_with_My_Current_Taycan\"><\/span>Sticking with My Current Taycan<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>\u201cMaybe gold wheels would look really cool this time.\u201d<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u201cI like that Purple Sky Metallic body color.\u201d<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u201cAnd I want to add the Active Ride option like my husband\u2019s Turbo GT has.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As these dreams grew, of course, the price climbed quite a bit&#8230; well, as expected.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-45395\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/HQTmEOibQAAkfpy-1280x720.jpeg\" alt=\"Taycan Wheels\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I still have a loan balance on my current Taycan, so I knew I\u2019d have to put some money down for a trade-up. Curious about exactly how much, I asked my dealer for a trade-in appraisal. While I didn\u2019t have high hopes for the valuation, what I was told hit me with a solid dose of reality: <strong>\u201cOh, I see&#8230; that\u2019s how it is.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I casually tweeted about it on X (formerly Twitter), and the response was surprisingly abundant \u2014 maybe many feel the same way (lol). Followers chimed in with lots of comments.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"ja\">Thinking about trading in my Taycan. I checked market prices on Car Sensor and asked the dealer for a trade-in. But the offer was so&#8230; disappointing that it calmed my mind. Don\u2019t sell it \u2014 keep driving!\u201d<\/strong> Those words brought me back to my senses: yes, that\u2019s right. I\u2019ll keep it.<\/p>\n<p>The Taycan truly is an incredible car. Many in my circle who experience it for the first time say, <strong>\u201cI definitely want the next one to be a Taycan too!\u201d<\/strong> (It\u2019s probably the same with the Macan EV and others.) Owner satisfaction is extremely high.<\/p>\n<p>But that doesn\u2019t mean its resale value is great.<\/p>\n<p>Since I love it so much, and with over 43,000 km already on the clock, the best choice for me is clearly to keep driving this trusty companion a while longer.<\/p>\n<p>Among my friends and family\u2014including my husband\u2014many are quick to buy new cars frequently, and I almost felt pushed to do the same.
