My time behind the wheel was brief, so this is a short review\u2014but I couldn\u2019t resist sharing my thoughts.<\/p>\n<p>In the base Macan and Taycan, I\u2019ve often wanted a little more power and torque\u2014the shove you feel when you press the accelerator. The electric Cayenne is different. <strong>It\u2019s seriously powerful.<\/strong> Despite its size, it never feels heavy or sluggish. If anything, it feels agile.<\/p>\n<p>The motors deliver their power beautifully, too. There\u2019s none of the abruptness often associated with EVs; the response is remarkably smooth. At the same time, there\u2019s none of the lack of punch at takeoff or low speeds that can affect today\u2019s gasoline cars, which are increasingly tuned for efficiency to meet emissions regulations. <strong>It manages to be both smooth and powerful.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The numbers are worth a look. The base Cayenne Electric produces 300 kW (408 PS) in normal operation. With Launch Control\u2014the system that delivers the quickest possible start from a standstill\u2014it puts out 325 kW (442 PS) and up to 835 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km\/h in 4.8 seconds, reaches a top speed of 230 km\/h, and offers up to around 640 km of range on the WLTP test cycle. The top-of-the-range Turbo Electric delivers 850 kW (1,156 PS) with Launch Control, but even the base model\u2019s figures leave little room to complain about a lack of power.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Handling_Is_Pure_Porsche\"><\/span>The Handling Is Pure Porsche<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_46032-2\" style=\"width: 1290px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-46032-2\" class=\"size-large wp-image-46032\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/cayenne-electric-newsroom-327514-1280x722.jpg\" alt=\"Side view of the Cayenne Electric parked by the coast\" width=\"1280\" height=\"722\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-46032-2\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">photo by Porsche Newsroom<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The handling is unmistakably Porsche.<\/p>\n<p>Turn the wheel and the car responds exactly as it should. The tires feel firmly planted on the road, and the steering is precise. <strong>I couldn\u2019t find a thing to fault.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tesla knows how to deliver EV acceleration. But I don\u2019t think it can match the steering feel and road-holding confidence of the Cayenne Electric. This is an EV carrying a heavy battery, yet it still drives like a Porsche. That, I think, is where this car\u2019s real value lies.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"V6-Like_in_Sport_V8-Like_in_Sport_Plus\"><\/span>V6-Like in Sport, V8-Like in Sport Plus<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_46030-2\" style=\"width: 1290px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-46030-2\" class=\"size-large wp-image-46030\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/cayenne-electric-hiro-cockpit-1280x960.jpg\" alt=\"The Cayenne Electric\u2019s cockpit and steering wheel\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-46030-2\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Cayenne Electric\u2019s cockpit<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The sound design is far better than I expected.<\/p>\n<p>In its normal setting, the car is quiet. Switch to Sport mode, and you hear a smooth, even note reminiscent of a V6. It\u2019s just the right sound\u2014<strong>the kind that makes you want to keep driving.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Sport Plus, the most performance-focused drive mode, the base model takes on a rumbling, V8-like sound. It isn\u2019t meant to be an exact engine imitation; it blends electronic and motor-like tones with just enough of an engine-like character. <strong>It sounds powerful\u2014and feels fantastic.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Gasoline_Cayenne_May_No_Longer_Compete\"><\/span>The Gasoline Cayenne May No Longer Compete<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Many people still have reservations about EVs.<\/p>\n<p>But the Cayenne Electric is an outstanding car that can turn those preconceptions on their head. It\u2019s comfortable, powerful, ultra-smooth, and remarkably agile. It has the full package. <strong>I think the gasoline Cayenne may no longer be able to compete.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After I posted about it on X (@boxster_gts), readers of my blog and Porsche owners who had driven the Cayenne Electric replied. They all had the same thing to say: it\u2019s a fantastic car.
