Sarina has owned her car for many years, and wrote:<br \/>\n\u201cAbout 14 years ago, I bought this very, very special car as a commitment to living on my own.\u201d<br \/>\n<strong>A car bought as a commitment.<\/strong> Those words resonated deeply with me.<\/p>\n<p>When people are asked why they bought a Porsche, many talk about its performance or design. Of course, those are important reasons. But you can find performance figures in a brochure. Sarina\u2019s words are different: her reason for buying the car is bound up with the way she intends to live her life.<br \/>\nShe chose the car not just as an object, but as something to entrust with her resolve. <strong>I can\u2019t think of a more heartfelt way to approach Porsche ownership.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Even with the same 997, the car means something entirely different to someone who bought it on a whim than to someone who invested it with a personal commitment.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%E2%80%9CA_Woman_Like_a_Carrera%E2%80%9D%E2%80%94A_Vision_Shes_Held_for_More_Than_a_Decade\"><\/span>\u201cA Woman Like a Carrera\u201d\u2014A Vision She\u2019s Held for More Than a Decade<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>There was another line that made me smile.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m going to become a woman like a beautiful, powerful PORSCHE Carrera\u203c\ufe0e\u203c\ufe0e\u201d<br \/>\nIn a blog post from around 2015, Sarina also described her sports car as having \u201celegant, sexy lines and plenty of horsepower,\u201d adding that it embodied \u201cthe kind of grown-up woman I want to become.\u201d <strong>She\u2019s been expressing the same idea for more than a decade.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There aren\u2019t many women who connect with sports cars or Porsche. These days, plenty of women simply aren\u2019t interested in cars.<br \/>\nThat\u2019s why it means so much to see someone draw inspiration from a car and aspire to become as wonderful as a Porsche. <strong>As a Porsche fan, I find that genuinely moving.<\/strong><br \/>\nShe sees the Carrera as more than speed or style: it brings beauty and strength together. Few people can express the appeal of a Porsche so clearly in their own words.<\/p>\n<p>Her post also included this:<br \/>\n\u201cEvery ordinary conversation with my son in the car, and every day I held the wheel and cried alone because I was sad\u2014all of it is part of my life with this car.\u201d<br \/>\nThe car has been there through the years of her life. Those are the words of someone who has kept a car for a long time.<\/p>\n<p>And there was this, too:<br \/>\n\u201cMy life has opened up in ways I never imagined back then.\u201d<br \/>\nShe bought the car as an expression of her resolve and still drives it today. We spent our honeymoon in Germany, where we rented a Porsche 911 for about a week and drove it on the Autobahn.<br \/>\nIt was an early 991 Carrera 4S. The 991 is the generation of 911 that followed the 997, and the Carrera 4S is a higher-performance, all-wheel-drive model.<\/p>\n<p>That was when I <strong>promised myself, \u201cOne day, I\u2019ll buy one.\u201d<\/strong><br \/>\nMy wife wrote about the trip in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/to-use-money\/\">What it takes to earn enough to buy a Porsche.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>An aspiration is something you admire from afar; a promise is something you hold yourself to. I bought it shortly after getting married, when work was finally beginning to take off and I had a little more financial breathing room than I\u2019d had as a salaried employee.<br \/>\nIt was a substantial purchase\u2014not that I had a lot of extra money, just a little. Still, I think I went for it because the car came with <strong>a commitment to achieve even more.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll never forget the moment I started the engine for the first time after taking delivery.<br \/>\nSarina\u2019s commitment to living on her own and my commitment to achieving more were entirely different. Don\u2019t give up.\u201d<br \/>\nThose words were in Sarina\u2019s post, too. Whether it\u2019s a commitment or a promise, entrust your Porsche with the person you want to become\u2014and keep moving forward without losing heart or giving up.
