Boxster to Tohoku

I've been tweeting on Twitter a lot, but this past GW.My husband went on a Tohoku touring trip in his Boxster.Six nights, seven days, no ferries, etc.All long tours are self-propelled.As usual, my husband compiled a report on this Tohoku touring, but since it is quite a long story, from Day 1 to Day 7, I will introduce it in several parts.

By the way, my husband sent me a message.

I went on a long-distance touring trip to Tohoku during this year's GW (Golden Week). As usual, I just drove around and did not give any general tourist information, but I hope you enjoy reading this article as if you were traveling in a Boxster yourself.

Tohoku Boxster Touring DAY1

9:00 AM. I load my suitcase, pack up my photography equipment, and throw it into the trunk of my Boxster.The Boxster's load capacity is dependable, as it can easily load even large luggage.Put your hands through the CACAZAN driving gloves. As usual, I insert the key into the Porsche's traditional left-hand key cylinder and fire up the engine. The oil has just been changed and the tires are still fresh.

The Boxster is in great shape for touring this time around.

I slowly engage the clutch and leave the garage at home to check the Boxster's condition.Slowly warm up moving parts in higher gears until the oil temperature gauge needle crosses the blue zone.The tour will continue over the Rokko mountain range. From now on, we are going on a grand tour to Tohoku for 7 days and 6 nights.

The K54 is a short distance, but it is easy to drive because there is not much traffic.

From Sonoda, we left the K19 and headed for Obama City on R162. Unfortunately, the weather was unfavorable, and a light, misty rain stained the freshly washed Boxster.I'd rather have a downpour anyway. This kind of light rain is the dirtiest.

Watching out for masked drivers and rat catchers, I put the car into 3rd or 4th gear and sped up the Horikoshi Pass on the R162 in a single bound. This is the kind of road that is most comfortable for the Boxster.Great turning and braking, engine sound, and supple ride.The combination of the two makes it look as if it is a part of the body.

As we reached the summit, clear skies peeked through the clouds, seemingly celebrating the start of our long journey ahead.

After taking a bunch of pictures of the scenery and my carWe are heading for Sabae City, where we will be staying tonight.It's a short drive if you take the highway.Here, without hesitation, we choose to go down the road.Cruising slowly from R27 through R8 and R305, with the Sea of Japan on the left. The weather was as usual, rain on and off, and it was a pity that we could not open the roof top.

Tohoku Boxster Touring DAY2

Day 2. At the hotel, I open the touring map book and check the route, butI can't find a road that looks good along the sea around Kanazawa-Toyama area.The truth is."peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture"Ya."Senrihama Nagisa Driveway"I would have liked to stop by, but the weather was bad and there was no time to stop by.

However, since we have to go to Niigata today, we cannot drive too slowly. We decided to take the Hokuriku Expressway and go to warp.It had been a long time since I had driven on the Hokuriku Expressway, but it was really easy to drive with little traffic.Do not disrupt the flow of traffic, and keep a comfortable distance from the car in front so as not to appear to be agitating.

Boxster GTS front aero is c-shaped and has DRLs(Daytime running lights)The "Mere Old Man" is a little intimidated by the fact that he has the "Mere Old Man" on, and if you get too close, he will try to get you to come closer to him.The car in front of you gives way more than necessary.So I try to avoid getting too close to them on a daily basis.

After that, we got off the expressway at the Tateyama IC and proceeded along a wide-area farm road.There was a bit of traffic, but we were lucky enough to get a clear lap so we were able to run at a comfortable pace.If the weather had been better, we would have been able to see the Tateyama mountain range, but the rain was still falling silently.

Again.Taking the Hokuriku Expressway, we headed for Niigata Prefecture at once.We reached Kashiwazaki City and headed north on R352 along the coast. On the way, we drove the Boxster on R402, passing by the Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant, which we had often heard about on the news. Unlike in the Kansai region, there were few traffic lights and the pace was fairly easy.After all, a long straight along the coast is something new since it is almost unheard of in the Kansai region.

We continued north toward Niigata City, taking a break at Komeguri no Sato Park along the way. As usual, the Sea of Japan was leaden and in a bad mood. We decided to drive the Boxster to the hotel where we would stay the night.
