Porsche Boxster

Driving in a Boxster, a reaffirmation of the extreme pleasure of driving

Boxster after a long time

The other day I drove a Porsche Boxster (981 Boxster GTS) for the first time in a while.

These days, I mainly drive a Carrera T, delivered at the end of May, but one day my husband came home in his Boxster and said, "This is really fun! Too much fun!He was talking about how fun it was, as if today was the day he took delivery of the car, so I decided to try it for the first time in a long time.

So this time, I would like to write about my impressions when I drove a Boxster for the first time in a long time.

1. impressive engine sound

Needless to say, the 981 Boxster GTS has a great engine sound. When switched to Sport Plus mode,The sound coming from the engine was like a musical instrument.

When the driver presses down on the accelerator pedal to merge onto the highway, the sound becomes even more powerful and deep.Beyond the instruments, the engine sounds as if a beast is howling (laughs).

The entire car is enveloped in the sound of it.

This impressive engine sound is the main reason why my husband can't let go of his 981 Boxster GTS, or for those who are thinking of getting one, I am sure it will be the most appealing.

The sound, which is fresh and pleasant even after dozens or hundreds of times of experience, is the very soul of the Boxster.

2. smoothness of ride

Boxster from the moment you sit in the driver's seat,The ride is soft and smooth with a firm ground feel. The Boxster absorbs road irregularities well, but its softness is not too loose, just the right amount of comfort.

The Carrera T, on the other hand, just sat in the driver's seat,Its firmer ride and solid ground feel are immediately felt, and the Carrera T may be more secure when driving. It may be.

However, I felt that the ride quality of both vehicles had different charms, and both showed unique interpretations in terms of comfort.

3. exquisite handling

Unlike the precise, cutting handling of the Carrera T (992), the Boxster's handling is a bit looser,It is exquisitely pleasant, including its looseness.

The car can be driven rhythmically and easily, especially in situations where gentle curves continue on ordinary roads.

The ground contact with the road is well secured and stable enough, but the handling is neither too severe nor too sweet to be unsettling. It is very comfortable.

4. manual clutch operation is curiously easy

In the past, when I was still getting used to manual operation, the weight of the clutch bothered me, but this time it was like a different story.

The clutch is deep and heavy, but on the contrary, it is a sensation that leads to exquisite ease of adjustmentThe following is a list of the most common problems with the "C" in the "C" column.

It is very easy to see where the clutch connects.

On ordinary roads in town, there was almost no shift shock. (Although there was a slight jolt when accelerating, such as when merging onto the highway.)

Just one point,The shift lever on the Boxster is longer than on the Carrera T, so at first it was a little harder to work with. After all, the shorter the shift lever on a manual transmission, the crisper and easier it is to enter and operate.

That said, this is only in comparison to the Carrera T, so I don't think it would be hard to do for those who only drive the Boxster.

I want to go away in my Boxster.

I hadn't driven a Boxster in a few months, but the Boxster has a soft, smooth ride and a wonderful engine sound that can be refilled a thousand times over. That feeling that transforms a mere ride into an exquisite experience.

The Boxster was again confirmed to be a truly emotional and enjoyable car.

The Carrera T is certainly a great car, but the Boxster is still a Boxster, with a completely different kind of fun that appeals to the emotions to the point where you can't help but smile.

I would like to take the Boxster out for a long drive once the season progresses a bit further and it gets cooler.
