Driving in a Boxster, a reaffirmation of the extreme pleasure of driving

Boxster after a long time

The other day I drove a Porsche Boxster (981 Boxster GTS) for the first time in a while.

These days, I mainly drive a Carrera T, delivered at the end of May, but one day my husband came home in his Boxster and said, "This is really fun! Too much fun!He was talking about how fun it was, as if today was the day he took delivery of the car, so I decided to try it for the first time in a long time.

So this time, I would like to write about my impressions when I drove a Boxster for the first time in a long time.

1. impressive engine sound

Needless to say, the 981 Boxster GTS has a great engine sound. When switched to Sport Plus mode,The sound coming from the engine was like a musical instrument.

When the driver presses down on the accelerator pedal to merge onto the highway, the sound becomes even more powerful and deep.Beyond the instruments, the engine sounds as if a beast is howling (laughs).

The entire car is enveloped in the sound of it.

This impressive engine sound is the main reason why my husband can't let go of his 981 Boxster GTS, or for those who are thinking of getting one, I am sure it will be the most appealing.

The sound, which is fresh and pleasant even after dozens or hundreds of times of experience, is the very soul of the Boxster.

2. smoothness of ride

Boxster from the moment you sit in the driver's seat,The ride is soft and smooth with a firm ground feel. The Boxster absorbs road irregularities well, but its softness is not too loose, just the right amount of comfort.

The Carrera T, on the other hand, just sat in the driver's seat,Its firmer ride and solid ground feel are immediately felt, and the Carrera T may be more secure when driving. It may be.

However, I felt that the ride quality of both vehicles had different charms, and both showed unique interpretations in terms of comfort.

3. exquisite handling

Unlike the precise, cutting handling of the Carrera T (992), the Boxster's handling is a bit looser,It is exquisitely pleasant, including its looseness.

The car can be driven rhythmically and easily, especially in situations where gentle curves continue on ordinary roads.

The ground contact with the road is well secured and stable enough, but the handling is neither too severe nor too sweet to be unsettling. It is very comfortable.

4. manual clutch operation is curiously easy

In the past, when I was still getting used to manual operation, the weight of the clutch bothered me, but this time it was like a different story.

The clutch is deep and heavy, but on the contrary, it is a sensation that leads to exquisite ease of adjustmentThe following is a list of the most common problems with the "C" in the "C" column.

It is very easy to see where the clutch connects.

On ordinary roads in town, there was almost no shift shock. (Although there was a slight jolt when accelerating, such as when merging onto the highway.)

Just one point,The shift lever on the Boxster is longer than on the Carrera T, so at first it was a little harder to work with. After all, the shorter the shift lever on a manual transmission, the crisper and easier it is to enter and operate.

That said, this is only in comparison to the Carrera T, so I don't think it would be hard to do for those who only drive the Boxster.

I want to go away in my Boxster.

I hadn't driven a Boxster in a few months, but the Boxster has a soft, smooth ride and a wonderful engine sound that can be refilled a thousand times over. That feeling that transforms a mere ride into an exquisite experience.

The Boxster was again confirmed to be a truly emotional and enjoyable car.

The Carrera T is certainly a great car, but the Boxster is still a Boxster, with a completely different kind of fun that appeals to the emotions to the point where you can't help but smile.

I would like to take the Boxster out for a long drive once the season progresses a bit further and it gets cooler.

Do the 981 Cayman GTS and 981 Boxster GTS have the same muffler sound?

      mining and manufacturing

      Thank you!

      >Is the muffler sound the same for the 981 Cayman GTS and the 981 Boxster GTS?
I think they are generally the same, although there are individual differences.
I asked my husband about it,
The Cayman is a coupe, so the sound echoes through the cabin, and I think the sound is more powerful when you are listening inside the car.
He said, "It is the same when you are listening outside, but the sound you hear inside the car seems to be different between the Boxster and the Cayman.

Thank you very much for your cooperation.

  2. 981GTS

    I drive a 2015 registered Cayman GTSPDK.
Although it is said that "the latest is the best," I still like the 981 because I can't say enough about its "sound" and the feeling of acceleration that only NA can provide.

I bought a used Porsche 3 years ago that was over-mileage (45,000km) for a Porsche, and at that stage, the spark plugs, fan belt, and air element had been replaced, as well as the battery.
From your blog so far, it seems that you have been running the car quite a bit. In addition to regular oil and other regular changes, I would like to know if there is anything you are doing for "anti-aging" of the engine, suspension, etc.

When I look at used car websites, I see that they are priced quite high, and I am not without the urge to sell them, but I have had no problems since purchasing them and would still like to continue to drive them.

      981GTS.
      Thank you!
      Oh yes!!!
The NA and the sound of the engine is a real pleasure that you can never experience in a modern Porsche.

I asked my husband about it.
I have my car inspected by the dealer every year, and I do what the dealer tells me to do, like replacing the parts.
I don't remember all the details, but I think I did everything I was told anyway.
In the meantime, I'm planning to replace the top in 10 years, and maybe renew the suspension in 10 years."
He said, "I am very happy to be here.

    Mina.

I'd like to take the Boxster on a road trip ...
Try to go away to Hokkaido sometime!
As I commented to Hiro before, his first visit in July was truly a sacred place for touring.
Riding through the magnificent and spectacular scenery in an open car is the ultimate luxury.
It was truly a wonderful and dreamlike experience.
It made it hard for me to get back into society, though.
Today, as I read Master WATA's Hokkaido GT journal, I am reflecting on the memories of the trip.

    • Mina.Mina.

      Mr. Cort Cavan.

      >Please try to go away to Hokkaido sometime!
Oh Hokkaido...! I would love to visit there...!
As you say, it must be a dreamy time, I imagine...!
I would love to be able to put my car on the ferry someday and drive it there as much as I want...

I dream of that day and will continue to do my best! Thank you very much in advance!

I always look forward to your blog.
I am currently considering purchasing a used 981 Cayman, and I am interested in a Sapphire Blue one. I have a strong image of black and white and silver, but I am thinking that sapphire blue is also possible.
I would be happy to hear what your image of sapphire blue is.

Also, the used price is low in the market, but is the resale after purchase not so good?
By the way, it is a left-hand drive.

    • HiroHiro

      Hi, Ummi.

Sapphire blue is my personal favorite, and if something 981 or 991 had that color, I would definitely choose it.
I can't forget the sapphire blue of the 981 Spyder, for example, which I wrote about in a previous blog post on test drives.
I don't think the resale is as good as black and white, but if you are in no particular hurry to sell, I think you can be somewhat bullish and put it up for consignment sale, etc., as people like it.
Also, since the left-hand drive is marketed in about 70% countries around the world, resale is always positive in the long run.
