Reviews & Test Rides

Turbo S is the top of the line in Taikan

This time we test-drove,Porsche Taikan's top-of-the-line model, Turbo SIt is. It is the strongest grade of the Taikan at this time and is a really badass car. It is fast, nimble, comfortable, and easy to use. That's the impression I got.

The body size is the same as other Taikan models, but the power is exceptional. However, the power is exceptional. It produces a whopping 625 horsepower in normal operation and 761 horsepower in overboost when launch control is activated. The 0-100 km/h time is 2.8 seconds, an area where 2-second times are hard to find.

However, Porsche has long had a tradition of announcing modest catalog specs, so I think this 2.8 seconds is a generous figure. In reality, it is probably a bit faster. We were able to test the Turbo S with such specs to the fullest this time.

Nimble driving is similar to 911 and 718.

Driving around town, I did not notice any major differences from other Taikan models. The only difference is that there is a little more torque. It is truly like a Taikan, stress-free, and smooth as if it were swimming.

Once the car enters the winding roads, the Turbo S really comes into its own. First of all, the car is extremelyIt feels light; it doesn't have the heft or density of a 911 Turbo S or Panamera Turbo S.

More than that, it is as nimble as if you were riding a 992 or 718. I am sure of it, as I have actually driven the 992 and 718. It turns crisply and shows agile handling that one would not expect from a vehicle weighing 2.2 to 2.3 tons.

21-inch wheels and PCCB

This is probably,The PCCB (Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes), standard equipment on the Turbo S, is highly effective.Carbon ceramic brakes are said to be one-third the weight of steel brakes, which probably reduces unsprung mass (unsprung weight) significantly.

Of course, PDCC (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control) is also effective, reducing roll and making the weight less noticeable.

In a scene like the S-shape, cut to the right and back to the left,The car turns spasmodically, as if it were absorbing the road surface. There is almost no such thing as sway back. This is truly a moment when the EV's unique low center of gravity comes alive.

However, since it is a heavy vehicle, it may be easy to feel some sideways inertia in high-speed corners. Nevertheless, for normal driving on ordinary roads, it is an unbeatable driving experience. It is unquestionably pleasant.

Driving in a Porsche Taikan Turbo S

Acceleration is a true "free fall".

The Turbo S is clearly faster than the 4S and GTS, but the Turbo S is clearly more powerful. I tried accelerating on an uphill, and the difference was obvious.

If you were in the passenger seat, your head would definitely roll back. Even in the driver's seat, I could feel the blood being pulled into the back of my head, and I felt that the acceleration was no less than that of the 992 Turbo S.

And in the case of Turbo S,The G's persist wherever they go. It is truly a free-fall, free-fall-like sensation.I once described on this blog that the Taikan Turbo is a free-fall forward on acceleration. It is the same with the Turbo S.

I would like to try this kind of acceleration performance on a circuit. I think it could probably set a very fast time.

Incidentally, my impression on the highway is that it is naturally even faster than the 4S.
The rate of increase in acceleration and speed is different. The Turbo S speeds up with even less acceleration than the 4S.

The sensory system is fixed in second or third gear.Like a GT3 in battle readiness. The following is a list of the most common problems with the "C" in the "C" column.
It accelerates as if it bursts into action the moment the driver steps on the accelerator pedal. The difference is that the Taikan can accelerate quietly and instantly without feeling any vibration, even when cruising. I don't think any engine car can beat this feeling.

Combines ride comfort and lightness

And the ride quality is perfect. It is always flat and seems to glide over the road surface. Thanks to the active suspension, it feels as if it is gliding rather than running.Gliding.This is an apt description.

However, this is not a fluffy ride.It is not the same as the slower ride of a Crown or Range Rover. It is like udon with a core and firmness. And yet it glides along.

I feel that this is a setting that is typical of Porsche, which has achieved a good balance between driving and riding comfort. It is truly "soulful.

If you choose Taikan, Turbo S is the way to go.

Frankly, I would recommend a Carrera or T for a 911 or similar, but when it comes to the Taikan,Personally, I think Turbo S is the best choice.

The PCCB also makes you feel as if you are driving a Porsche 2-door sports car.

Right now, the Turbo S is coming down in value considerably in the used car market. Why don't you consider this opportunity?Putting the resale aside, it will surely be one of the most satisfying cars you will ever own.
