How do you always wash your Porsche? What kind of car wash products do you use?

My husband wrote another article about car washing. Please take a look if you would like to read it.

I have written a few articles on car washing before, but since then, car washing methods and products have changed somewhat, so I would like to update the information.

How often do you wash your Porsche?

I still wash my own car as usual, no matter how many Porsches I can afford. It is to remember the original intention.
Sometimes I ask the gas station for help, but that's only when I'm in a hurry or can't take the time to wash my car.

Since I am a car enthusiast, it is easy to think that I wash my car often, but in fact, I am not that diligent about washing my car. They are more the type that accumulate some dirt and then wash it all at once.

The reasons are basicallyCar washing is a fine-scratch operation and should be done as infrequently as possible. That's why. However, we do this at least twice a month because of the large number of units.

Basically, all of our cars are coated, so we do not wax them, and basically wash them with water, and only shampoo them when they are dirty.

How to wash your Porsche

Remove dirt thoroughly

Use a high-pressure washer here. A household Kärcher is sufficient. Water is applied evenly from the top to the bottom of the body to thoroughly remove dust and dirt from the body. The high-pressure washer is also very useful for removing brake dust from the wheels. It will never completely remove brake dust, but it will remove 80% of it.It makes cleaning the wheels, which is done later, much easier.

Be careful not to apply the high-pressure cleaner to the hood of a Boxster or 911 Cabriolet. If water is to be applied to the hood, use the lowest possible water pressure.

Wash the car with plenty of foam.

Next, replace the nozzle part of the high-pressure cleaner with a foam gun and cover the entire body with foam. For detergent, use the car shampoo that came with the coating, diluted appropriately and put in a tank bottle.

After enveloping the body with plenty of lather, theGently clean the body using "gorilla hands".I have used various sponges, brushes, etc. for car washes, but in the end, the type used in the hand is most efficient and requires the least amount of effort. I have two of these "Gorilla Hands", one for the body and one for the wheels.

One thing to keep in mind at this time is that when the temperature is high or in the case of a large car such as a Cayenne, the foam may dry out over time, so it is better to pour the foam over each part or to pour it over again just before hand washing.

skim (a liquid) thoroughly

So far, I've been using a blower and letting the wind blow the water droplets away.Recently, I have been using a super absorbent towel called "Silk Dryer.Since I started using the blower, I basically don't use it anymore, and when I do, it's only for blowing water droplets off small areas.

What is amazing about this towel is that it has a "magic trick" level of water absorbency, completely eliminating water droplets in an instant. Common absorbent towels may remove a certain amount of water the first time, but the second time the towel is used, streaks are left behind, and it is easy to end up having to squeeze the towel several times before using it again.

However, theThis towel can absorb water for about one 911 without normal wringing.Rather, it is so thick that even if you squeeze it (which is quite difficult because it is thick), the water does not come out easily.

In addition, what we are concerned about is the durability of these towels, but we have been using them for several months and have had no problems so far.I know that as the towel wears out, it will eventually lose its absorbency, but in order to keep it as absorbent as possible, I do not wash it.I am doing so. I think the water absorbency will inevitably decrease with washing, so I just dry it in the sun after use and reuse it. (In the first place, I just wipe water droplets on a clean body after washing the car, so it doesn't get dirty so much.)

Wipe down the body

If the coating is well coated and shiny, a light dry wipe to remove fine water droplets completes the process. If the coating is about to fall off, it may be sprayed with the maintenance agent that came with the coating.

Tire glazing

This is not done every time, but if the tires are whitish or something, I wax the tires.Tire wax is always water-based.The president of the store where I had my 964 wheels repainted once told me that he did not recommend oil-based wax because it would affect the clear coating on the wheels and peel off after many years of use.

I use SureStar tire wax. I use this wax because it turns a natural black color over time and does not have a glare or glare-like feel. I also prefer it to the foam type because it is easier to apply to thin flat tires without sticking to the wheels. (I sometimes use the foam type no-touch UV for tires with high flatness like the Cayenne.)

Water repellent glass coating

This isn't something we do every time, either. It should be installed about once or twice a year, e.g., before the rainy season. For full-scale application, an oil film remover pad is used to thoroughly remove the oil film. We recommend this oil film remover pad because it is easy to apply and requires relatively little effort to remove the already-applied coating.

After removing the old coating, the standard "Glass Coat Hybrid Strong" was applied, and finally wiped off. Considering its cost performance, water repellency, and durability, this product is very good.

Interior cleaning

The interior is rarely cleaned, but if there is dirt or dust, it is vacuumed. For cars with leather interiors, I just spray the leather with a tightly wrung towel to moisten it to a certain degree, and I do not use any particular polishing agents on plastic parts.

The above is how we wash our Porsche. However, with limited time and facilities, I try to do it in the shortest possible time and with the least amount of effort.

Of course, it is not necessary to do all of these steps, and we would like you to incorporate them if you find them helpful.
