I used google maps with Apple Car play on iOS12 right off the bat!

iOS 12 update for iPhone

Apple released iOS 12 for iPhones and tablets on September 13, local time. This allows Apple CarPlay to be used withGoogle Mapsis now available.Apple CarPlay means that you can use music, messages, calls, navigation, and other apps from your smartphone on your car's display.use (a person, animal, puppet, etc.)The one that can be done.

Even though the current Panamera's navigation system is somewhat usable, after being stuck in a traffic queue, it still shows the bright red or red of a traffic jam.(W is late.)Sometimes I wonder why they take such a roundabout route.

Every time I do this, I open Google Maps on my iPhone, search for a route, lean my iPhone up against the back of the steering wheel, and rely on Google Maps for navigation.Every time I stop, the iPhone falls over and it's hard to get a good line of sight.I had been having a lot of trouble with Google Maps (-_-). So I am quite happy to see Google Maps on Apple CarPlay with this update.

The nice thing about Google Maps, by the way, is.

Display traffic jam information in a timely manner.
They will show you the shortcuts and loopholes, not just the main streets.
The latest traffic information is reflected immediately.(For example, the opening of the new Meishin Expressway between Takatsuki and Kobe)

I guess that's about it.

I used Google Maps as soon as I could.

My husband said, "Our new Panamera is compatible with Apple CarPlay, so I'm going to try using Google Maps. First of all, as a preliminary preparation

iPhone must be updated to iOS 12.
Have a charging cable to connect the car body to the iPhone.
Google Maps application must be installed on the iPhone.

is necessary. Well, none of this is an exaggerated advance preparation, and many of you are probably already well prepared in this regard. By the wayPorsche officially announced in 2015 that it would not adopt Google's Android Auto and would only support Apple's Carplay, so only iPhone users can use Google Maps navigation in Porsche carsMy husband said it was.

So, I connected my iPhone to my Panamera right away, and it had Google Maps right in it!(Of course not.)

Google Maps appears on the screen like this. It is almost identical to the iPhone.

However, scrolling is a bit awkward, so it would be better to display and operate the up/down buttons as shown in the image above, or use the iPhone.Google Maps allows you to set your destination by voice, but if you wish to enter your destination by text, you can do so with your iPhone, which will also be reflected on the screen. When I tried saying "Tokyo Tower" by voice recognition, the following information was displayed.

It is closer than I thought it would be (laughs). Also, the way the route looks is roughly the same on the iPhone screen and the NAVS screen, as shown in the image below.

Routes can be set up in the same way as regular navigation systems, such as "no expressways" and "no toll roads.

In addition, when a pre-registered destination is selected, the system displays a route that matches the most current conditions, as shown here.

And NAVITIME!

By the way, NAVITIMECar Navi Timewas also Apple Carplay compatible, so I used it.

For destination search, there are search methods such as "return home," "history," and "convenience store," just as in regular navigation systems.

This time I tried a free word search, but at this point I could only type in English (Roman characters).

Therefore, if you operate the iPhone and enter your destination in text, it will be reflected on the screen. The route to "Tokyo Tower" is displayed as shown below.

Anyways, iOS 12 update!

It is likely that other car navigation apps will appear in the future that support Apple Carplay in some form, and it would be good to use them in different ways depending on the situation. For exampleWhen Google Maps is used in the countryside or on mountain roads, it can sometimes guide you down impossibly narrow roads, or roads that have a path but stairs beyond...w

So it would be quite convenient to use Google Maps in the city and other car navigation apps on mountain roads.

My husband says.

This update is a revolution. The world doesn't realize the significance of this yet, but I think it will be a game changer in the car navigation industry. This is really going to be a great thing.

I'm looking forward to it! I'm looking forward to future road trips that are going to be much less stressful around the nav system!!!
