New Porsche Cayenne S Coupe Test Drive Review: V8 Appeal and Driving Performance Evolution

New Cayenne S Coupe

I recently test drove Porsche's new Cayenne S. I would like to review it in this issue. As always, this blog post "contains no promotion" and should be read with peace of mind.

Our family used to drive a Cayenne E-Hybrid. This time, based on that experience, I would like to include a comparison of the old and new models.

The new Cayenne falls into the category of minor changes.
The exterior changes are not noticeable, but the front area and rear taillight design have changed. Even as a former owner, it is difficult to distinguish it from the old model from a distance.

At last, full digitalization. The design of the tachometer in the middle may or may not look familiar...

But the interior changes are obvious.

The shift lever has been moved from the center console to the side of the steering wheel, and the meters have been changed from analog to digital, reminiscent of the Taikan.
I personally like this change. For a car like the Cayenne that is also used as a utility vehicle,This method is better for the shift lever, which can be operated smartly without taking your hands off the steering wheel.I think.

Here is the shift lever. Same as in Taikan.

Center console of the new Cayenne

The coupe model we test-drove this time was striking in its arctic gray body color. Upon getting into the car, the center console seemed to be lacking something due to the shift lever's repositioning.

Perhaps because of this, the center console is no longer moderately cluttered,It is also honest to say that the interior quality seems to have decreased somewhat compared to the previous generation model.

V8 engine and handling of the new Cayenne

Porsche has finally changed from the key-twist method to the start-button method. I personally find this a little disappointing, but when the engine starts, the sound is enthralling.

In the midst of stricter volume regulations, the starting sound of this Cayenne S is noteworthy.

The sound quality, as well as the volume, is very exciting. This sound tuning is one of Porsche's answers to the volume restrictions. This is what we can expect from the later 992's to come out in the future.

V8 engine of the new Cayenne

This Cayenne Coupe S is equipped with PDCC, rear axle steering, and air suspension, so it can be said to be fully equipped with driving-related options.

The tires roll smoothly from the start, and everyone will feel the difference from the first roll of the tires. The V8 engine is easy to handle, with little or no turbo lag or torque fluctuation. The Tiptronic is an excellent match, and the comfort level is better than that of a lowly luxury saloon.

21-inch RS Spyder Design wheels

In Sport and Sport Plus modes, the newly developed air suspension enables low and stable driving. The performance is also fully demonstrated on winding roads. The dealer representative who was riding beside us on the way to the show said, "Try stepping a little harder on the brake here.He says, "I'm not a fan of this.

It was a little downhill,After checking safety and stepping on the brakes a little harder, there was very little nose-dive.It is possible to have great control with such a high and heavy vehicle. This surprised me. I was told that this kind of control is a feature of the new air suspension system.

The lightness of the car in curves and the setting that makes the body feel smaller were also impressive. Even on bumpy road surfaces, vibrations were settled in one shot, highlighting the excellence of the suspension.

Highest ride height raised

The lowest ride height. Two fingers are the same as the 911 PASM Sport!

The lowest ride height. Very low!
This is what makes the air suspension so appealing. It is recommended for sporty drivers as it lowers the center of gravity considerably, as well as ride comfort.

Dimensions of Driving Enjoyment

Although the previous Cayenne also drove well and was fun on the winding roads,That level of "fun" is no longer at the level of the Macan this time around. This is what makes the new model so unique. It was fun to take one curve after another, and even though it is an SUV, I didn't have to brace myself for the curves at all, which made me want to drive more and more aggressively. This was the first time for me to drive the Cayenne that made me want to go back and forth two more times.

The rear axle steering is also very effective, with surprisingly good small turns when making U-turns. I feel that the rear axle is even more effective in small turns than the rear axle that was previously installed in the Panamera Turbo.

The point I really liked about this Cayenne was, above all, the pleasant sound of the exhaust. Of course, I'm sure it's thanks to the sport exhaust,The sound is not bombastic, but really pleasant. This would not be vulgar and would not be too tiring to listen to for a long time.

Attraction of the new Cayenne

This test drive gave me a good sense of the new Cayenne's appeal. The S's V8 engine, in particular, is not only great sounding but also handles wonderfully. Hearing that it is a detuned version of the Cayenne Turbo GT's V8 engine, I strongly felt its value.

HD matrix LED headlights. This and the new air suspension's superior control technology are said to be only available from Porsche at this time.

If you are considering buying a new Cayenne, it is hard to choose between the E-Hybrid and the E-Hybrid. The response and speed of the hybrid is appealing, but so is the V8, and PDCC is a must-have option, with the effect being especially noticeable in a vehicle like the Cayenne.

Porsche exceeds expectations with every model change. The new Cayenne sets itself apart from other SUVs in terms of ride comfort, sportiness, and driving pleasure. If you value interior comfort features, luggage space, and seven-passenger utility, go with another company, but otherwise, the Cayenne is the best choice.
