My Family's Car Life

Can you really use a wide car for everyday use? Impressions of owning Porsche Cayenne and Panamera

Daily use of Porsche Panamera and Cayenne

I would like to write about daily use of a wide car based on the experience of actually owning Porsche Panamera for 4 years (970 Panamera Edition, 971 Panamera Turbo) and Cayenne E-Hybrid (3rd generation Cayenne) for 2 years .

In conclusion, in Japan, it is difficult to use a wide car on a daily basis.

Both Panamera and CayenneBoth cars are about 1,940mm wide and about 5,000mm long. What a gigantic body... (cool though)

Strangely, it doesn't feel that big when you're riding it, but when you look at it from the outside, its size is obvious.

The performance as a car is excellent, and I love the comfort and driving, but the only size is now "At the very least, I would like a car with a width of 1900 or less and a length that is not that long.I often have a conversation with my husband and wife.

Panamera running

The first Porsche I drove was a Panamera that I had a test drive at the dealer.

Since then, I became a big fan of Panamera, and when I started this blog, I was riding Panamera wherever I went, including supermarkets and picking up children.

At the beginning of the blog opening "Panamera has a wide vehicle width, so isn't it difficult to use on a daily basis?"I was getting comments from time to time, but since I loved Panamera,

“The place where we live is not in the city, but in the suburbs. If you are conscious of not going to a narrow parking lot or passing a narrow road, you can ride normally"

He replied.

Also, I didn't really feel it was difficult to use, and with regard to the 971 Panamera,It also had rear axle steeringSo it was unexpectedly easy to turn around and parking was easy.

Rather, when driving long distances on highways,Its ride comfort and running performance are outstanding, the interior space is spacious, and the two daughters can sit comfortably in the back seat, so the whole family can be satisfied. The impression was stronger.

I ran a round trip of 1000 km from my home to Fuji Speedway several times by myself, but I didn't get tired, and it felt so good that I felt like I could run more. Somehow, I felt like everything was fine.

The neck is a parking lot.

Time passed from there, my eldest son was born and we became a family of five.Farewell to the 4-seater Panamera, the 5-seater Cayenne came to our house.

And when my daughters got older, things started to change dramatically.

Kindergarten pick-up and drop-off, going to the dentist, dermatologist, pediatrics and other hospitals, shopping at a convenience store, eating out at a family restaurant with a small parking lot, etc.I can turn around in a small circle and can go anywhereA car became essential.

Inevitably, the number of NISSAN notebooks that were in my house at that time increased, and riding Cayenne was limited to when driving long distances on highways or when families went to rivers and snowy mountains.

Furthermore, since my beloved Swift Sport came, Cayenne's turn has almost disappeared.

In other words, the main reason why I feel that I can't use it everyday is "parking problem".

Regarding the road, there is no particular problem if you avoid roads that are difficult to pass each other, and both Panamera and Cayenne are easy to drive because they are effective in small turns.

However, as far as parking is concerned...

The other day I took a cayenne for the first time in a while and went to Osaka city,I was refused parking at the hotel, and the mechanical Times was too narrow to park, and it took about 15 minutes to find a place where I could park.I was almost late for the meeting.

Even if you can park in your home parking lot, you cannot park in a parking lot outside your home, soI can't go where I want to go, the places I can go are limitedTo be honest, there are many.

If you live in the suburbs or relatively rural areas, it may be okay, but in Japan, this size would be tough.

It's really annoying because the running and riding comfort are wonderful, but at my house now,I would like a compact size car to some extent as a family car in the future. This is the conclusion.

When my child grows up someday and I don't have to go to conveyor belt sushi or family restaurants anymore w, I think I'd like to ride Panamera again these days.
