Useful features by my husband who has operated every inch of the Porsche Panamera's touch screen.

There's nothing you don't know around the navigational system.

I recently blogged about my views on the useful features around the Panamera's touch screen, but when I talked to my husband afterwards, I learned that there are many things I don't know about touch screen operation and features... On the contrary, he told meI don't know anything about the Panamera's navigation system. So I was told.Convenient functions related to touch panel operation that my husband found useful."I would like to introduce you to the following

I'm not making excuses.(No, excuses...)There is not much in the Panamera's user manual about how to operate and set up the touch panel, so the only way is to learn and confirm by touching it one by one on your own. Given that.My husband, who claims that there is nothing he doesn't know about the navigation system, even though it's not even in the user's manual, has done a lot of maniacal research, I think again (explosion).

So here are four features that my husband found useful.

(1) Customizable home screen

The first is.The ability to customize the home screen to one's liking."The husband said. According to my husband.

My home screen has the most frequently used chassis settings, sport exhaust, idle stop button, clock, etc. in an order that is easy to reach. It is definitely more convenient to customize it and tailor it to your own taste.

I was told that I would be able to use it. However, since I was only touching the already customized home screen, I was actually shown how to set it up. First of all, the "3-line mark" at the top of the touch panel(What is this mark called? Menu?)Pressing the "Setting Up Home."Click on the button that appears.

By the way, the secondSet up the infowidget."The "Home" button is a simple widget-like screen setting screen that appears only halfway up when you scroll through the touch screen. So, you can set different contents for the home and the info widget. ...So, going back to the story, when you click on "Set Home," you will see the following screen.

Next, the left side of theSelect a category."From the "Home" screen, you can freely touch the items you want to add to your home page or use frequently, and bring them to the right side of the screen. I guess it is called drag and drop. For example, if you add "Vehicle" to the right side, you can further select whether to display a button to change the suspension settings or a button to change the driving mode itself.

There are also five layouts available, each of which changes the amount, placement, and size of panels that can be displayed. Therefore, it is possible to save different themes for each layout, such as "Layout 1" for vehicle-related information and "Layout 2" for navigation and media-related information, and change them according to your mood or driving conditions on that day.
Finally, do not forget to press the red button "Confirm".

Apple CarPlay

The second useful feature is theApple CarPlay" in the app." By the way, I have never used it. I mean, I don't have any music on my iPhone.(When I changed my iPhone before, it didn't sync properly and all my music disappeared, so I haven't put it in...)She was a very good friend of my husband's. According to my husband.

CarPlay is not much of a feature right now, just "iPhone music apps," "Siri," "navigation with Apple maps," etc., but with iOS12 coming out in the fall, it will be able to display Google Maps and other third-party navigation apps. I'm really looking forward to iOS 12, which will be released in the fall, because it will be able to display navigation apps from other companies, such as Google Maps.

It would be convenient to have Google Maps displayed on the navigation system - especially since traffic jam information is available in real time and only locals know about shortcuts. If this were to happen, I wonder if we would no longer use the OEM NAVS. These are very difficult times for car navigation system manufacturers.

(3) App News

The third useful feature is "app news". According to my husband.

This news is only registered with Porsche News by default, butMy Porsche websiteYou can subscribe to any RSS feed you like after logging in and setting up your account at For example, if you subscribe to the "Porsche Came to My House" blog, you will receive updates. But, well, I don't use the news for that.

I'm sure I don't look at "RSS" every time I'm driving. I certainly don't look at "RSS" every time I'm driving. Also, although updates are displayed, only the title of the blog and the title of the article are shown, and even if you click on them, you can't read the full text, so it would be more convenient to look at it on the smart phone. I wonder when I would use this feature...when I am waiting for someone or when I have too much time on my hands... (explosion)

(4) Passenger seat adjustment

The fourth feature that I find useful is the ability to adjust the passenger seat from the driver's seat. I find this useful and have written about how to do it in detail in a previous article I wrote, so if you would like to read more about it, please click here.

Oh well...I guess there are still a lot of features and information that I don't know about. Let's go back and look at the Panamera's owner's manual again!
