Reviews & Test Rides

My husband test drove a Porsche Taikan and I asked him what he thought.

Test drive a Porsche Taikan

When my husband was at the Porsche Center the other day, he was given a short test drive of Porsche's first EV sports car, the Taikan.

For more information about Taikan, please contactMy husband once had the opportunity to test drive it at the track. But since this was the first time for him to drive on public roads, I asked him for his impressions, albeit brief.

By the way, the Taikan I was allowed to test drive wasGrade is Taikan Turbo, body color is Frozen Berry MetallicIt is. This color stands out quite a bit in the city!

My husband had this to say about his impressions of the actual test drive.

Taikan is still very fast.Just a little step on the pedal and the acceleration was amazing. The acceleration of the motor is amazing. Even when the speed increases, the acceleration doesn't slow down.
When I drove the Taikan on the circuit, I felt tremendous G's pushing against the seat when I accelerated on the straights, but I was able to experience a glimpse of that acceleration in the city.

And.

The Taikan (in the case of the Turbo S) has tremendous acceleration power, with 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, and the time is said to remain almost unchanged even after more than 20 consecutive 0-200 km/h acceleration cycles. Maximum output is 761 PS and maximum torque 1050 Nm.

Amazing...!

Also, my husband was impressed with the sound.

The option, thePorsche Electric Sport sound soooo good!I just want this option. I want it to be my phone ringtone.
It was cool to hear it inside the car, but it was especially cool to hear it outside. It was a sound I had never heard before, and I felt it was more powerful in a way than the GT3. It was really good.

He said.

On the other hand, there were some differences from what he had imagined.Ride quality"It is.

More than I expected.I don't think there was any thickening in the ride.I was imagining a smooth feeling like the Cayenne E-Hybrid, but the flat tires make the tires feel rougher than I expected. Especially since the drivetrain is motorized and smooth, the rolling feeling and noise of the tires are even more noticeable. If I were to buy one, I would prefer a smaller inch tire.
By the way, it's a crazy good ride. It's super flat. It's like riding on a single hard board, and my line of sight never wavers. This test car was equipped with PDCC, and I guess it must be the effect of the PDCC. Incidentally, when driving the GT3 at high speeds on the highway, the car is very stable as if it is absorbing the road, and I think it is similar to that feeling. I think it is similar to that feeling of flatness you get in the city.

He said.

Taikan, buy?

I asked my husband, "Are you going to buy Taikan after all?" I asked my husband.I'm not buying it now.He said.

I asked him why.

I don't see any use for the Taikan in our house right now. The Taikan can seat 5 people, but the Cayenne is more spacious.
And as for driving, the Taikan is closer to the 911 than to the Panamera, but it's "a lot more fun to drive. So you want to go touring in Taikan? If you ask me, I'd say... I'm still concerned about the cruising range, so it's not possible for me to go on a long, random touring trip like I do.
Then, if I want to use it for my daily driving alone, I can use a 911 or a Boxster. I don't know what I would do with it even if I bought it.

This was the case.

The charging environment in Japan seems to lag far behind that of Europe, so there may still be many difficulties when it comes to owning a Taikan in Japan. We are hoping to hear from some of our blog readers who have purchased a Taikan, and we will be able to share their firsthand experience with you on our blog.
