Maintenance cost of Porsche GT3

The other day, I was asked to write an article titled "Maintenance costs for the GT3 are said to be higher than for the 911 Carrera, but what and how much higher?I was asked the question, "What is the best way to do it?

I asked my husband how it really was.

Hmmm...so far I don't feel that it's very expensive compared to the 911 Carrera. However, if you drive a lot on the circuit, you will need to change the oil frequently, and that will make it more expensive. Also, my GT3 has a PCCB, and the cost of replacing the PCCB is in the order of 1,000,000 yen... In that sense, people may think that the maintenance cost is higher than that of a 911 Carrera.

Our GT3 Touring (late 911) was delivered in May 2019 and has been in the family for a year and a half. The mileage is about 10700 km. During this time, it has had two oil changes and one 12-month statutory periodic inspection at the dealer.

The first oil change was done after the accustomed driving was finished, and the second oil change was done just before driving on the Suzuka Circuit after a long-distance touring trip the other day.12-month statutory periodic inspectionAs for the price, it was just under 9,000 yen.

In this way, I certainly don't feel that GT3 is that expensive.

Fuel consumption of GT3

Then I asked my husband about the GT3's fuel economy.

Well, gasoline runs out quickly when you drive on a circuit. The last time I was at Suzuka Circuit, I drove two 30-minute runs, and I almost ran out of gasoline. However, when I went touring, I got about 8-9km/l in total on highways and mountain passes, etc. The 992 Cabriolet got about 10-11km/l, so the GT3 is not that bad.

Since our GT3 has only been in the shop for a year and a half, it has not experienced any inspections, nor has it had any major problems that require parts replacement, so I do not feel that its maintenance costs are very high compared to other Porsches, but I wonder if that will change over the next three or five years of ownership. I hope to write more about this in the future.
