Before long, chatting with the other owners had me soaked in sweat after just 30 minutes. The kids were sweating, too, so we took a break inside the Boxster to avoid anyone getting heat exhaustion.
The temperature that morning was 28°C, but the sun was fierce at that altitude. When there was no breeze, it felt more like 35°C.
After our break, we went back to checking out everyone’s cars and chatting, but it was just so hot… (-_-) The kids wanted ice cream, so we took another break. We were starting to get tired, too, so we decided to leave the lookout before 10 a.m.
Since we’d come in two cars, we decided to stop at one of our usual photo spots—not exactly a secret, though—and take a few shots of the Boxster and GT3 together before heading home.
“We finally got a photo of these two together! They look so good!” I was excitedly snapping away when the sound of a sports car engine approached. And there they were: a 981 Boxster Spyder and a 911 4S (a rare, limited-edition 993 model)!
They were friends of my husband, so they stopped by, giving us the chance to capture a rare four-car lineup: the 911 GT3 Touring, Boxster GTS, Boxster Spyder, and 993 4S.
We were there for only about two hours, but this visit to the Royu Driveway was a lot of fun. Still, it was just too hot, so maybe I’ll wait until the weather cools down before going again… Getting here at 6 a.m. is out of the question for me.
Since we brought the kids, I couldn’t take anyone up on their offer of a ride in their car. But a few people said, “Feel free to take it for a spin,” so I hope I can accept their kind offer next time my husband and I come on our own.
If I do get the chance, I’d love to try an Abarth 124 Spider, a Toyota 86, or even a Subaru… That’s what I’ve been thinking lately. (Sorry for getting carried away!)
