Kyushu Touring with Boxster, last day

."Oh, did I mention that I wrote an article about the end of year touring, the last day of the year?I looked back at it and realized I hadn't written it down (sweat).

If you were looking forward to it, I'm sorry! I'm sorry that this is an end-of-year article, even though it's already spring, but please bear with me if you would like to read it.

To Sakurajima by Boxster

Depart from a hotel in Miyakonojo City at 7:30 a.m.I would like to drive along the coastline of Miyazaki today and then tour Sakurajima and other places. So, we left a little early. The weather was fine in the morning, but it was supposed to break down from noon.

Moreover, the temperature is expected to drop considerably and a big cold wave will hit the Japanese archipelago. Since we are in Kyushu, I don't think we will be stranded by the snow, but we will try to act as early as possible.

Exit at the Miyazaki IC.Heading south on Nichinan Phoenix RoadI have been here before in an Audi TT. I had been here long time ago in an Audi TT, and it was the first time since then. The coastline is very pleasant to drive along with the summery sea on my left. The Boxster with the top open is very lively.

The scent of the wind, the temperature, the sun, everything is geared to making the drive enjoyable.

Then, while the engine is running in 3rd gear or so, dare toCruising while listening to the superb sound of NA Flat 6Do. The Boxster doesn't need an audio system. The exhaust note pouring from overhead is the best music of all.

We continued to head south, making stops along the way. The wind was quite strong, as if the pressure pattern of high in the west and low in the east was getting stronger.Trying to go south on R448 to Cape Toimisaki, but it seems the road is closed, so we have no choice but to take K438 toward Kushima City.Headed to.

Today, I would be returning to Osaka by ferry, and with the ferry terminal by my side, I decided to head in the direction of Sakurajima.

The navigation system tells you to go through the Kanoya City area, but there is no point in touring if you take the national highway or the main road as usual. The real pleasure of touring is to always be on the lookout for a pleasant road to ride.

After checking the touring map book, we chose a route over the mountains from K64 to K71. It was quite a winding road with little traffic.

However, the low-pressure system intensified.Near the top of the pass, the outside temperature was below 3°C and snow was beginning to flicker. The snow gets heavier as we drive on, so we hurry onward, but by the time we cross the pass, the snow clouds seem to have broken away.

Heading north on R220 toward Sakurajima, which can be seen in the distance. The smell of sulfur was growing stronger in the city, and Sakurajima was getting closer. This is the first time I have been to Sakurajima, and seeing it up close gives it a more powerful feeling than from afar.

The mountain itself has its own pressure. When I hold my hand over it, I feel as if I can feel some energy.

The weather turned to light rain and it was difficult to see the summit clearly behind the clouds. We drove the Boxster on the island's circular road, stopping at a roadside station and a lava observatory.

At 17:55, we set out for Shibushi in time to catch the ferry departing from Shibushi Port. We could turn around and go back the way we came, but since we are going all this way, we will just go back the way we came.On the return trip, the route heads south along the coast before heading for Shibushi via K73.The roads in this area are also quite easy to drive. It was like a country road running through the countryside, and I was able to drive at my own pace.

Arrival at Shibushi Port. This time, the ship was the newly built "Satsuma SandalwoodThe car was a Boxster, so I had applied for a low-floor car. Since it was a Boxster, I had applied for a low-floor car, but as soon as the attendant saw the car, he seemed to think it was fine and guided me to the same cabin as a normal car.

incidentallyOnce it's determined that the vehicle is a low-floor vehicle, it often has the same cabin as a truck. It often takes a little time to get in and out of the car.

Ferry booked single occupancy Superior. The room is quite small, but it has a bathroom and toilet for your comfort. After eating enough food at the buffet in the ferry's cafeteria to make my stomach growl, I went back to my room to relax, and before I knew it, I was asleep.

Due to the cold wave, the wind and waves seemed to be quite high, and after leaving the port, we could not even go out on deck, and the ferry was shaking to a certain extent, but still, it is such a big ship that we did not feel so uncomfortable while sleeping in our rooms.

At 7:40, we arrived at the Port of Osaka. The low-pressure system had completely passed, and the city of Osaka was clear and sunny. As soon as the Boxster was unloaded from the ferryin the style of Mr. WATAChange Boxster! Switch on!" and opened the top.Switching on the Sport Plus mode, I headed home with the exhaust note echoing on the empty year-end Gulf Coast Highway.

I ran 2116 km and got 10.4 L/100 km (about 9.6 km/L)
