Porsche Cayenne

Cayenne E-Hybrid's charging environment and how it feels to actually own one.

Cayenne E-Hybrid

My Cayenne, which was delivered to me last month, is a Cayenne E-Hybrid and can be charged by an external battery.

To charge the battery, use theNormal recharging (recharging with 100V or 200V AC power) and quick recharging that can be done from a dedicated recharging station. There is a

Incidentally, the voltage at the outlet in our parking lot is 100V, so if I charge the Cayenne with the electricity almost completely used up, it will indicate that it will take 15-18 hours to fill up the tank.

On the other hand, in the case of fast charging, the car is said to fill up with electricity in a few dozen minutes, but the Cayenne E-Hybrid's charging plug is not compatible with fast charging. (Fully EV vehicles like the Taikan can be fast-charged.)

So, before the Cayenne was delivered to theI guess since it's a hybrid, I can charge my Cayenne at one of those fast-charging stations you see on the highway all the time! I'm kinda excited!I had mistakenly thought that I was a "good person," but in fact I was not.

In other words, in the case of our Cayenne E-Hybrid, it cannot be charged using the Chademo, which is often heard as a standard for quick charging (the shape of the plug is different to begin with), but only the J1772 standard can be used.

Chademo fast charging stations

This was previously published in theIn Porsche Owner's File article on the Panamera 4E Hybrid. The owner has written a detailed description of the charge.

On the other hand, in the case of the fully electric TaikanDifferent plugs are equipped on the left and right charging ports to support both fast and normal charging. The company is now in a position to do so.

And as a test, when I visited a park on Awaji Island some time ago, there happened to be a regular charging station, so I tried charging while parked and was able to charge without any problem. (There are stands where you have to be a member of the Japan Charging Network (JCN) to charge, and others where anyone can charge normally.)

I'm the one who's been trying to get a hold of you about charging on the go.

I have to look for a station where I can charge my battery at highway SAs, etc.

My husband would say.

Well, you can do it, but it will take 10 hours or so to fill up a regular charge, so 30 minutes or so won't do you much good.
Even if the electric power runs out, the car can be driven normally on gasoline. In my family's case, we usually go shopping in the neighborhood and pick up and drop off the children, so even if we use up all the electricity on an occasional long trip, we can charge the battery in the parking lot at home in the middle of the night and drive the car in the morning with the battery still charged to some extent. That is why I think it is important to use "Charge in your home parking lot when you run out of electricity.I think that's enough.

I am sure that is true. Indeed.

By the way, yesterday I drove about 150 km round trip on the highway in the Cayenne, but I drove in HYBRID AUTO mode on the way there and got about 11 km/h of fuel efficiency, and on the way back I drove mostly in Sport mode (because I completely forgot to change the mode to Hybrid Auto on the way there) and got about 8 km/h of fuel efficiency. I had to change the mode to Hybrid Auto halfway through the trip.

My husband has been on the interstate many times with his hybrid auto.Fuel consumption is usually 11 km/hIt is said that.

To be honest, the fuel economy is not good from the general image of a hybrid vehicle, but if this is the fuel economy for an SUV with a heavy motor, it may not be so bad.

And as I've written before.Porsche hybrids are amazing not so much for their fuel economy, but rather for the fact that the assistance of the motor allows the driver to experience a powerful driving experience that gasoline-powered cars do not have. So, if fuel economy is important to you, I think you would be more satisfied buying a standard hybrid car that claims to have good fuel economy.

What I Think About the Cayenne E-Hybrid

So, after considering what kind of use the Cayenne E-Hybrid is best suited for, we have come to this conclusion at this stage.

(1) If you run a few kilometers around the neighborhood every day

The motor alone is sufficient for driving around the neighborhood at a normal speed. When I usually drive it for neighborhood shopping, I can always drive without using any gasoline at all. I can even climb a certain amount of hills with only the power of the motor.

(2) If you commute 20-30 km one way and use the highway and can charge in the parking lot

It is about 25 km one way to my husband's office, but that is enough to keep the battery charged if the car is driven in hybrid auto mode.

And there is a regular charging station in the Times parking lot where my husband parks, which he can use if his car is parked there. If the station is open, he can charge his car for about 8-9 hours during his working hours, so he can drive home without any problem in hybrid auto mode.

It's only been a month since I took delivery of the car, so I'm sure my impressions will change and I'll discover new things as I drive it, but for now, this is how I feel.

Nevertheless. Our Cayenne has already run about 2,500 km.I'm a little freaked out about how much the mileage will have increased in a year lol.
