Shikoku / Kyushu Touring by Porsche 911 (992) ①

This time my partner is 992

Since this year's Golden Week holidays are 10 consecutive holidays, I decided to go on a long touring for the first time in a long time.

I couldn't decide which partner to go with until just before, 981 or 991, no 964? I thought, butThis time I decided to take out 992.The reason isI've run long distances and circuits on the 992, but I've never done touring that seems to be a full-fledged touring. It is.

But to be honest, there was a conflict. The 992 is a turbo engine, soI regret that I should have come in 981 on the way because the speed is too fast to turn the engine, the chassis is too good and it is too fast, and the sound is not as sensual as the NA engine of 981 or 991. Isn't it?I was worried.

This time it will be a 6 night 7 day trip. I hope that you will be acquainted with this touring note for a while, including how your impression of 992 changed as you spent the trip together.

First, aim for Shikoku

On the first day, I put together the shooting equipment and luggage and throw it into the trunk of 911.

Unfortunately, it was a heavy rain in Kansai on the day of departure. However, looking at the weather forecast, it is sunny in the west and Shikoku areas. 911 headed for Awaji Island to escape the rain.

It's been a while since I've been driving the 992 because I haven't been riding much recently and I've been leaving it to the dealer for a while to repair abnormal noise in the car. As usual, the 911 is easy to drive.Torque rises so fast that you can't think of a turbo car peculiar to the base CarreraHowever, it synchronizes well with the driver's intention. So it feels good to drive.

Go south on the Kobe Awaji Naruto Expressway, which flows at high speed. It passes Awaji Island in no time and landed in Shikoku.

I managed to get through the busy Tokushima city and head south on R55. Watching all the cars flow to the bypass Hiwasa Road, I drive 911 to the old road with a smile. I've introduced this on my blog many times, but it's definitely a point to drive on the old road. This is because the best route for complete charter is waiting.

Open the top of 911 and turn on sports mode. Leaving a gentle bubbling sound, the 911 runs through the empty old road R55.

Minami Awa Sunline

While heading south on R55, head toward the South Awa Sunline on the way.

This is another favorite road I often go to, but it's a winding road with continuous curves that make you feel like you're jumping into the sea along the coast. Occasionally, when it comes after a typhoon, gravel and tree branches are scattered and it is difficult to run, but this time the road surface is very good.

After taking a break in the first parking lot, let's enjoy the winding.

If it is Boxster, it is a road that runs hard at 2nd speed,If it is 992, 3rd speed is enough. It is possible to use high revs at 2nd speed, but it is not very comfortable because the torque drops at high revs due to the fate of the turbo engine. So to speak, it feels like you're riding a bicycle and speeding up, and you feel like you're spinning.

Accelerate from the corner exit with a margin of torque. Moreover,The stability of the chassis is outstanding, and it is more sensationally better than the 991 Carrera 4 GTS.Even when entering a tight corner, the amount of steering cut and the movement of the car are perfectly proportional. It's a really comfortable way to enter the front desk. It can be said that this is one of the major features of 992.

After writing a sweat on the winding, relax and cruising the R55 by the sea. Even in such a case, the thickness of the torque of 992 is reliable. It accelerates as expected even from 7th speed and 1000 rpm, and enjoys the fun of "running with torque" which is different from Boxster.

From Muroto Skyline to Nankoku City

Cape Muroto has been visited many times, so I passed and headed for the Muroto Skyline, which runs through the mountains where Cape Muroto is located.

As you run up the steep slope, the road continues along the mountain peaks. The view of the Pacific Ocean from the observatory on the way is superb. The rain at the time of departure rises like a lie and gives us a wonderful view.

Run through the Muroto Skyline and return to R55, aiming for Nankoku City, where today's inn is located. There isn't much fun from here. As the traffic volume will increase, we will use ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) a lot and proceed with a mere travel time.

I used to think that 911 does not need ACC, but when I actually used it,ACC is necessary for sports cars like 911"I think. The reason is that roads like busy roads, congested roads and single-way highways make no sense for sports cars like the 911. Rather it is painful. With ACC in such situations, you can minimize stress and go to your next destination, winding or free-running. Only winding and free-running roads need to be operated and run by the 911. On the unexpected road, semi-automatic driving with ACC is enough.

I arrived at the hotel early on this day, parked 911 in the corner where Tonara was unlikely to come, and checked in.
I ate dinner at a nearby ramen shop and finished the touring on the first day while planning the route from tomorrow.
