Reviews & Test Rides

How do Cayenne owners feel when they drive the Porsche Macan?

My husband wrote a test drive report on a Porsche Macan Turbo that was driven by a friend of his. Please take a look if you like.

Ride comfort of Porsche Macan Turbo

I've written test drive articles on various Porsches on this blog, but for some reason the Macan is the only one that has a few of them, and my brother bought it.Macan Turbo ArticleThere is only one.

Now that quite a few years have passed since then and I've improved my Porsche experience, I wanted to review the Macan again.I was lucky enough to get a chance to test drive the Macan Turbo. So, I would like to give a review of it.

The Macan we test-drove this time is a 2015 Macan Turbo. The Macan model has not yet undergone a full model change at this point in time. This is a current model, albeit a 2015 model, however, it has undergone several minor changes, so this is an earlier modelThe first is the "A" in the "A" column.

Square muffler allowed only for turbo

The engine is not the current 2.9L one.3.6L V6 twin turbo with 400 PS and 550 N⋅m of torqueThe car is not equipped with a sports exhaust system. This car is not equipped with a sport exhaust system, but the engine and exhaust sound is still very brave and powerful for an SUV.

With a top speed of 266 km/h and 0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, there are no complaints at all about its dynamic performance from the start. Low-speed torque is more than adequate. The car has a high quality start from launch, and the shift shock of the PDK is minimal.

This car is equipped with air suspension with PASMIt was done, and it is very good. As I wrote in my last Macan Turbo review, the air suspension of the Macan Turbo is a setting that I personally like very much.

The tires have a very flat and firm ground feel while retaining the quality and luxury of the rolling sensation. Once the suspension is set to Sport or Sport Plus, it transforms into the suspension of a sports car.

20-inch RS Spyder design wheels

Compared to the current Cayenne's legs, luxury is stronger in the Cayenne. However, I don't want you to misunderstand me to mean that the Macan is sporty and less luxurious.

The Cayenne ride is too comfortable.

The Macan's legs feel like they're sucking on the ground with a flutter, yet the core is very thick. It never wobbles or becomes unstable with the slightest sideways G. There is a thumping sound when passing over rough surfaces, but the impact is very small and the cudgel is completely removed.

If I had to say one difference between this and the Cayenne, I would say.The sound and vibration of this thumping and going over rough terrain is so much louder in the Macan that I feel it is slightly louder in the Macan. Is it?

However, this is only a comparative discussion. If you drive a Macan normally, most people will not feel any complaints about the ride quality at all.I think.

Driving on a mountain pass with Macan

When I turned the corner at Ashiu, I found that "It's like driving a sports car with a much lower ride height. My first impression is that the "M" is the most important thing in the world.

The Cayenne feels like a car that's 'a high SUV but can be driven quite sporty,' but I'd like to make it more compact andIt feels like driving a car with a low height.

In a sensory sense, you feel as if you are driving a car about the size of a Golf 7, with an overall width of a little over 1800 mm and an overall height of 1500 mm or so.

That is how wonderfully athletic the Macan is, with an overall width of 1,925 mm and an overall height of 1,610 mm, it hardly feels athletic at all. The sense of security and speed in cornering are more impressive than those of the Panamera and Cayenne, and the Macan's performance is even better than the Panamera and Cayenne. It is closer to a 911 or Cayman Boxster.

The load transfer is smooth and smooth, even when turning an S-curve corner, and the vehicle runs through the corner without any problems.

Individuals equipped with Porsche Torque Vectoring PlusThe "T" is a word that is said to be used to describe the "T", and it is probably a benefit of this. It turns so well that it is almost laughable. When you are concentrating on driving, you are not aware that it is an SUV at all. The car turns as if it is cutting into the corner.

I felt like I was driving a normal sports car, slowing down and coming back to myself.'Oh, this is an SUV.'I think again, that's how it is.

I've driven all kinds of high performance cars here, and of course there are other cars that are faster than the Macan. But.It is hard to find a car whose behavior is so beautiful, so easy for the driver to understand, and so faithful to the basics.

After all, that's the point.Porsche (German car brand)I strongly feel that it is a 'I'm not a good person.

Other manufacturers are hard pressed to find cars that can do this.Ease of driving and straightforward behavior that appeals even to human sensibilitiesI think Porsche is fun to drive because of things like that.

Macan engine and transmission

Not to mention the powerful engine.Acceleration is also perfect. The 0-100 km/h time of 4.6 seconds is in line with catalog values. The bubbling sound is pleasant and motivating when the car is set to Sport or Sport Plus mode.

And then...Notably, the transmission, PDKIt is. One of the major points of difference between the Cayenne and Macan is in the transmission. The Cayenne is a Tiptronic S with a normal torque converter AT system, while the Macan is a PDK with a dual-clutch transmission system. It is.

This is from what I've heard before. The Cayenne dares to use the Tiptronic S because it is also designed for serious off-road and towing applications.Yes.

The current Cayenne's Tiptronic S is also a great transmission, but it is still no match for the PDK in sporty driving. ThisThe PDK in the Macan Turbo also responds wonderfully. The speed is truly lightning-fast.

Plus, the sound when shifting is fantastic, just like the PDK on a 911, etc.Bashun!" Bashun!"The engine upshifts with a pleasant sound, and downshifts with a "BOOM! and when downshifting, the driver will precisely match the RPMs with a howl.

Really. This is nice to drive.Probably any car enthusiast would smile involuntarily when they experience this.

Macan ≈ ( 911 + Cayenne ) / 2

This time, I dared to enjoy the Macan by driving it slowly and a little sporty, but this is not similar to the Cayenne. The direction of the car is quite different.

After the test drive, I thought to myself, "Who would I recommend the Macan to? After the test drive, I thought about what kind of person I would recommend the Macan to, and I would say, assuming you don't have a parking space or a budget to consider, I would sayIf you have a 911 or Cayman Boxster and are buying a Macan as a second Porsche, it might be better to wait!It may be.

BecauseMacan has a high concentration of sportiness, so it is a little bit covered with 911 etc.I think there is a place for that.

So, if I were to choose a second Porsche, in this case, the Cayenne seems like a better choice.

On the other hand, I'd love a 911 or a Cayman Boxster, butIf you have to carry your family and have the restriction of owning only one car, Macan rather than Cayenne.I think the Macan is sporty to that extent. The Macan is sporty enough to satisfy the needs of a weekend solo driver on a winding road. If I had to describe the Macan in a mathematical equation, I would say this.

Macan ≈ ( 911 + Cayenne ) / 2

After test driving the Macan this time, I found that the appeal of the Macan, in my opinion, does not lie in its power. This time, since it is a Macan Turbo, the appeal of power was naturally great, but that is not the essential appeal of this car.

If you are not aThose who want an SUV with fast acceleration in a straight line, instantaneous speed, and momentousness are better off with other manufacturers.I think. More than that, thisGeeky car enthusiasts who appreciate outstanding chassis balance and great suspension set-up.I would like Macan to be a great ride for the

This Macan is truly an "exquisite" car. It was a car that made me think so.
