Porsche 911

I haven't driven a Porsche 911 GT3 in ages!

Long time no GT3

The other day.Drove a 911 GT3 (MT) for the first time in 3 months. It was only a 20 minute ride to swap with another car in the parking lot, but it was nice to feel a bit of GT3 for the first time in a while.

Our GT3 is a late 991 GT3 Touring. This GT3 clutch is surprisingly light compared to the 981 BoxsterSo, it may be one of the easier to drive among the MT GT3s.

Also, the GT3 doesn't have much low speed torque, so when I first got on it, when starting off(especially when starting up a slope)I would sometimes stall the car in the middle of the road, and it would be ticking more than necessary. And every time I did, my husband would often say to me something like this.

You should drive more as you feel, not as you think.I'd say, "The car looks like it's having a hard time," or, "I think we should hold off a little longer and connect it to the car more slowly."You'll drive more smoothly if you listen to the sound and voice of the car more.

And.

In the beginning, even though I knew this in my head, I was staring at the tachometer, and I didn't really understand what it meant to listen to the car's voice.

It's been a long time... I finally made it here after 5 years since I got rid of the AT limitation (laughs).

Although our GT3 is relatively easy to drive, if you step on the gas pedal when starting off with the feeling of a 981 Boxster, you will get a "boohoo (crying)The engine would make a tremendous engine noise, and the car would go into an idle state. On this particular day, people on the road were startled by the sound of the engine and turned around in surprise. Excuse me...

I remember that Masataka Matsutoya, who used to appear as a guest on Ogi Yahagi's Car History, said, "I've been looking for a new car for a long time.A true Porsche driver does not step on the gas pedal when starting off.He said. He said that the first time he lifts the clutch and the car huffs a little, he steps on the gas pedal for the first time, but "The first person who is doing the "Boo" is someone who doesn't know much about Porsche. He said.

...That's totally me (laughs).

Remembering this, I loosened the clutch and operated the car with only a little effort on the gas pedal, and was able to start smoothly.

Once I experienced this sensation, starting off felt so good that I got into the swing of things. If I did this, I could drive a narrow Porsche, too.I found myself driving around with a huge grin on my face, muttering to myself, "I've got to get out of here..." (explosion).

About bare 911 and GT3

And on this day, when I drove the GT3 for the first time in a long time, the feeling was quite different from before. In the past, I used to think that when I rode the GT3 in the city, it was very stiff and shaky, and the ride was very uncomfortable. This time, he felt that "it's a perfectly acceptable ride in town, no problem at all.

I think the main reason for this is that I started riding the 992.

The 911 Cabriolet (992 model) arrived at our house the other day, and the suspension is quite stiff. Even my husband, who prefers a firmer ride, said, "When I first got in the car after deliveryThe suspension is pretty knobby, and it picks up road bumps and swells pretty well, so my first impression wasn't great."I think they are very stiff.(It seems that this is not the case with the 4S, and that the bare bones are too stiff).

However, after about 300 km of driving since delivery. The 992 has also become much more supple and has changed to a firm, moist ride that my husband loves.I have been.(My husband raves about it every time he rides his 992 these days)

And I have recently become quite accustomed to the ride quality of the 992, so when I ride the 991 Late GT3 in such a state, I can't help but think, "I'm not going to be able to ride the 992.What's that? Isn't the form factor that much different from the 992?The perception of the car has changed to "I don't feel much discomfort when driving in the city.(Also, the fact that I am no longer a pregnant woman with a big belly may have had an impact.)

However, it would be a bit exaggerated to send the GT3 out for a short drive around town, so in reality, I think I will ride it when I go touring or on "special occasions," but the other day, after a long time, I felt like I was driving it for the first time in a long time.GT3, I'm totally OK with the everyday driving. The impression of "the first time" became stronger.

As for this sensation, my husband also

I thought so too and carefully drove the GT3. Then, I saw thatIt's true that the GT3 rides pretty good on good pavement, so it's not too different from the 992.I thought. However, when passing through pavement construction sites, large undulations in the road surface, uneven surfaces, and manholes, the GT3 still yields more up and down, left and right.
But, if you drive a 992 and then a GT3, you will think that the GT3 is quite good. Human senses are mysterious.

I am really surprised at how different the same car can feel when you change the car you normally drive.

However, the GT3 is only truly effective when driven on a circuit or on a road where it can be driven at a comfortable speed. I can't wait to drive the GT3 on such roads!
