Porsche Unveils an Innovative Camping Tent
Porsche’s newly announced Porsche Canopy Tent could transform the outdoor experience for owners of its luxury sports cars. The inflatable tent attaches to Porsche’s four-door models, creating a comfortable living and sleeping space that connects directly to the car.
It’s compatible with the Macan, Cayenne, Panamera, and Taycan. Attached to the tailgate, it can serve as an extension of the car’s interior or as a dedicated campsite. The tent can accommodate up to six people, and its air-frame design makes setup straightforward with a hand pump and a central valve.
Porsche Canopy Tent Features and Functions
Key features of the Porsche Canopy Tent include:
– A square footprint measuring 2.3 m x 2.3 m when set up
– A roof for protection from sun and rain
– Elastic straps and suction cups to secure it to the car
– Ground pegs to anchor it in place
– A removable floor mat
– One standard fold-down wall with a window, providing shelter from wind and sun

According to Porsche, you can still load and unload the car while the tent is attached, which can be especially useful in bad weather. Optional extras include three additional walls to fully enclose the space, a separate tent for sleeping or storage, and a connecting tunnel that lets you join multiple tents together.
Developed in Partnership with an Outdoor Specialist
The Canopy Tent was developed in partnership with Dometic, a specialist outdoor equipment manufacturer. Dometic already sells a tent called the Dometic Hub, which offers similar functionality and floor space and costs around €675 (approximately ¥100,000).
The Porsche-branded Canopy Tent, by comparison, is priced from around €1,510 (approximately ¥230,000) for the base model, rising to around €1,965 (approximately ¥300,000) for the full package. That’s a price tag befitting a premium automotive brand.
A New Option for Porsche Owners
The Canopy Tent opens up new ways for Porsche owners to enjoy the outdoors. It makes an unusual kind of getaway possible: heading off on a camping trip in a luxury sports car. Bringing the car and the natural world together, this product is sure to attract attention from Porsche enthusiasts.
That said, the relatively high price and compatibility with four-door models only may rule it out for some Porsche owners. Even so, this attempt to blend the appeal of the Porsche brand with outdoor living could bring a fresh perspective to the automotive world.

The Porsche Canopy Tent is reportedly going on sale this month, but its availability in Japan is unknown at the time of writing. It’ll be interesting to see how Porsche owners and outdoor enthusiasts respond to the idea of camping in a luxury car. Personally, I find the idea of taking a Porsche camping fascinating—and it’s something I’d love to try someday.
